OK so I figured I would play with it and see what I can find on here...
Anyone else play with twitter?
If you want to look me up, mine is http://twitter.com/x0xteachx0x
looking for recommendations of stuff to follow along with
*already searched the rum ones I could find...*
Morning, Teach. I use Twitter quite a bit, though you'd not realize it from my tweets over the last week.
You'll find me at http://twitter.com/FaireNews (http://twitter.com/FaireNews)
I've been searching out Faire enthusiasts all over the country and have a pretty good group that I follow and who follow me. *grinning* 'Course there are a bunch marketers and travelers that I find interesting.

Sweet!
Can't wait to get home and add you both
I discovered the biggest problem on there is the searchability of twitter
Typing in renaissance or renfest doesn't bring much up, you have to have names to search for and most faires don't twitter (or at least the ones I go to don't)
Now when I get home I will steal from both of ya'll! lol
*and no rum producers seem to have any that I can find either... sigh*
Good luck stealing from me, I just joined last night :P
*chuckling* Feel free to steal anything you find interesting.
I don't use the internet browser version, I'm using TweetDeck (http://www.tweetdeck.com) which is free and runs on my desktop. If you decide to try it, let me know if you've got questions. I've been using TweetDeck for about 3 months and like it better.
I don't think i understand twitter... it looks like it's just the status function from facebook...
Yeah, that's pretty much what it is. For some reason it's highly addicting though....
I'm here: http://twitter.com/chatnoir06. :)
In a nutshell that is exactly what it is but there is more to it than that
Twitter is blogging in a highly shortened form. Basically, any random thought you have can go out on twitter to be read by whomever signs up for you.
There is also the news headline side of things, you can get Twitter updates of headlines from your favorite news organizations.
I like the shorter blog concept. I rarely have time to sit and post a full blown blog but I often have time to send out a quick text of whatever might be going on.
So... that's the idea of it in short
*Kinda like drinking shots of rum all day instead of a mugfull every couple of hours*
HAHAHA! I am now Twitter-pated. Come find me!!!

Twitter was based on the same premise as the status function of Facebook but now it's being used in vastly different ways. New users still pretty much put in what they're doing but once they have some followers they tend to begin short conversations, ask questions and get quick answers, and make connections they'd never have seen.
Some things that I've seen happen:
- The earthquake in China a couple of months ago was reported on Twitter and spread around the world before the news agencies ever picked up on it.
- Someone watching a movie had a question about submarines, asked it on Twitter, and received multiple answers in a short time, including one from a member of a submarine crew.
I make posts about new music I'm listening to, faires that I hear are looking for merchants or performers, notices about posts at FaireNews, random things I find interesting, and re-tweets of others' posts occasionally.
Huzzah indeed ... and http://search.twitter.com/ might help with some searching, but it really only works if people are talkign about what interests you ...
Do you have a twitter, Blushing?
I actually have twitter accounts for both my cats. Hahaha. You'd be surprised how many people out there do that! My cats have more followers than I do...
