Title: Faires in early October
Post by: Celtic Lady on February 22, 2009, 01:57:22 PM
I am looking for a faire to go to the first weekend in October in northern Michigan, Wisconsin, or Minnesota. Sir Morgan and I will be on our "mini-moon" as our wedding will be at MiRF and we will be driving back to Iowa via the long way... through Michigan's L.P. to the U.P. through Wisconsin to Minnesota and down to Iowa. Since we'll have our garb with us we'd like to visit another faire. I checked with the directory but it doesn't seem to be updated. There is a faire listed in Wisconsin that would've worked but it is listed with 2006 dates. If anyone has suggestions we'd really appreciate it.

If you would be willing to alter your itinerary a little and go through Illinois, there is a great little faire, Stronghold, that takes place the first weekend in October.  There's even a real castle, with a tour through it.  A lot of the cast and musicians from Bristol participate, and since it is smaller, there is a lot more interaction and joking with the audience, etc.  It's one of our favorites.

And I think, though you'd have to ask the MN forum folks, that the MN Ren Faire dates are changed and goes through the first week of Oct.

If you do decide to visit Stronghold, as it gets closer, there will be a post in the Smaller Midwestern Faires Thread with the times of a Meet & Greet.
