How many of my R/F friends will be staying at the Super 8 Motel in Waxahatchie [sp?] on opening weekend?
I know that some Drunken Gnomes will be there, but I'm looking for other folks.
What are the directions to the motel? I'll be coming up I-45 and over to whatever highways that connect to the town. The area is out of my range, so I have no idea what the area is like.
I plan on coming up early Friday, probably arriving before the checkin time for the motel. I want to check out the campgrounds at the lake for future visits with the travel trailer.
Looking forward to April.
We will be at the Super 8 as well. Plan on being there as early as possible Friday. I need to meet you. I will probably be in panick mode that night, but I will try to find out where everyone is tho.
several of the mclotofus clan will be there. tis my b-day and official mead testing weekend.
We'll be staying there too. Should be rolling in mid-afternoon Friday sometime.
mpullen - From I-45, take 287 west to I-35E. Go south on 35 to Brookside (I think), cross over and get back on 35 going north. Stay on the feeder and the Super 8 is just a little bit up the road. To get to faire, you have to go up to 287 and loop around to get going back south. MapQuest link: http://www.mapquest.com/maps?city=Waxahachie&state=TX
Looking forward to seeing everyone!
We'll be there mid day on Friday.
If I decide to drive down on Friday night, I'll be sleeping on a piece of floor in Sonata's room. Can't confirm that yet.
I will be at the Super 8! Fri, Sat and Sun nights! ;D
just made my reservations for the rest of the season since i will beable to go every weekend if i so choose.
I will be leaving straight from work on Friday...and should get to the Super 8 around 7:30-8:00 at night. ;D I am already packed and ready! lol ;)
i took that week off, so i should be there around 3 or 4 gettin an early start on things.

Any man with 10 gallons of mead is a man after my own heart! ;D Wow! lol! ;)
I like your style, i think we're going to become very good friends very soon.

A girl can only hope! ;D lol! ;)

Just a note about the Super 8, the Manager Peter has been an awesome guy in the past, when you arrive you can find the Gnome contingent gathered around the pool if the weather is good. This is usually no prob and we stay out there well past the pool closing hours.
I am looking forward to meeting those I have not and seeing fairemily again.
Mike, get with me off the forum, not sure when we are leaving but you are welcome to follow us.
I'll be leaving San Antonio around 4pm, stopping in Austin to pick up my boyfriend, then making haste to Waxahachie (or however you spell it lol). See ya'll there eventually!

Peter is awesome! I sent a note to the Management telling them how great he is about helping us book for all 8 weekends. They said they would pass it on. It's nice to deal with someone who does their job with a good attitude. looking forward to seeing all of you- one week from today-YEA!!!!
Something tells me that the motel is going to be rocking at least as hard as the faire!
Yep, this is definitely "the" place to stay.
We've made many many new friends whilst hanging about at poolside.
As long as the volume isn't to high they don't care how long you stay out there either.
*and they let me bring rum bottles out there as well... bonus*
to quote the great Andrew W. K. "Let's party hard!"
LOL! Glad I am staying at a quiet motel- not Super8! I need my beauty sleep before faire!
We are staying at the Hampton, but I am sure we will come by on Friday and help you celebrate Brandon!
The NWS long range simply says "Friday thru Sunday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 72." Way far out but at least there doesn't seem to be any big change coming (it snowed here in Bowie last night!). We will be driving down Friday and staying at America's Best Value (hey it's just a place to sleep and garb up). Anyone else staying there. WE are bringing my daughter, son in law and their 6 kids (yes its like the Brady bunch sort of), her 2 and his 4. Give a shout out to them if you see them. They went last year for the first time ever and this time, they all have put together garb and are so excited. They had a blast last year (daughter was beckoned to the stage by Don Juan), kids loved Twig and the Duchess, Noobler and others, SOL and I did archery and his youngest son (he's 8 this year) asked me at the end of the Final Joust "papa Rick, what do they do with that dead guy?" I told him that oh it was just an act and he'd get up and walk off. He said "I saw the blood!" So, I took him back to watch and true to form (I had never seen them do this) and maintaining the illusion, they brought out a stretcher and carried him off. So, they just haul off the dead guy and throw him in the woods...
I'm excited, sharing Faire with family and friends, introducing them to all of my Faire friends is why the world of Faire is so great!

Awesome-o!!!
Soo..
The question now is, who's hosting the party Friday night? And then Saturday night?
hehe .. ;)
i don't think there isn't a particular host for it...i think it's just one giant free for all
Pretty much everyone gathers by the pool and relaxes...and drinks... and relaxes more... and drinks... and relaxes more
As long as we aren't totally obnoxiously loud the managers have never complained... I think its kind of expected now lol
*rum, loki and an ice cold swimming pool... what could be better?
mead

Teach my dear, I've yet to have the honor of meeting you, but I certainly look forward to it! I'm a rummy myself (hehe, my term!) so i'm sure we'll get along quite finely..well as long as I share my rum with you or the rum is plentiful! lol ;)
Yeah..maybe we can fix the cold swimming pool predicament? Spikey and I have a lot of those heater pack things we used to use at Faire last year and stick in our sleeping bags. Maybe if we get about 10908098 more of them, we can heat the pool? lol.
Woot! Three more days!
As we used to say in the Navy "Getting to the short strokes". Hmm wonder if civilians will take that wrong?
Day after tomorrow get off work and drop the dogs off at the kennel and then pack bags.
Friday morning early (7 AM) head up I-45, trying to get through Houston before the rush hour.
I should be in the area around noon. I'll probably head over to Lake Bardwell to check out the campgrounds for future trips up with the travel trailer.
Check-in time at the motel should be around 2 PM, so I'll be hanging around the check in desk about that time.
Anyone have suggestions on how we can leave a note of what room we are in? Maybe if I just wander around in my kilt should be good enough.
If there is a bar, I'll be there or out at the pool if not. I guess I should bring beer and Loki in case there isn't a bar.
Any plans for dinner together Friday evening? What restaurants are nearby?
I plan to stay off the internet tomorrow, just to avoid any problems with the worm launch.
for food, i was probably goingto order a pizza. maybe if everyone throws down we can just order out for a pill - o- pies
I won't be in until 22:00 or later, if there are leftovers I'll donate.
Not that I know much about science... but I am pretty sure that the handwarmers wont work so well in the pool...
We can possibly hook a water hose to the hot faucet on someones room sink... run it out to the pool... leave it on all day
and by the end of faire season that water should be plenty warm!
No bar Mike, just figure on meeting by the pool.
We'll be out there at some point probably early afternoon. Apparently we have friends who get up WAY early and like to stop on the way to faire lol.
Thinking about it, folks may want to bring chairs to poolside if we are going to have this big of a crowd out there
*And Juju... rum is always plentiful when I am about... bank on it!*
10 Am is not early. Departing for faire at 0500 is early, but I've been overruled on that.
We'll bring a couple chairs...too bad they would very likely be upset at a fire pit!
does the phrase "Crack of Noon" ring a bell?
Sheesh!
And meeting in San Marcos at 10AM means leaving the house at 9 which means getting up at 8
that... is early on a day off
so there
neener
We'll be meeting ya though! To excited to be on the road to not meet up with ya
Perhaps.... floating the firepit in the pool as a warmer could work
*and of course... San Marcos has the big rum store... and that's important too*
Yes, I shared your phrase with the Lady Adela, who normally is all about that being a great time to get out of bed.
However shopping and faire are two things on a very short list that inspire her to get up a bit earlier.
Looks like I might get in a little earlier.
I have two bottle of sweet mead and two bottles of dry to supplement Mac's supply of homemade. Oh, and I have the stuff to make about a half dozen "Sweet Bitches".
Awesome! GO Z!

Heck yes, Zaubon! I love your sweet btches! lol.
I must say that is one of my fave drinks now :) Genius, I tell you. Pure genius!
Looks like Kris/Spikey/NightWolf (or whatever nickname any of y'all know him by) and myself will be arriving 10-11 p.m.ish. I couldn't get off work much earlier..phooey! Hopefully some of y'all may still be up and having a good time when we get there so we can kick off faire with a bit of a party!
;D
Wish you guys were getting there earlier, but I can't wait to see ya!

*hugtackleglomp* Woot! I can't wait to see you too! By the way, when we get there (Kris is now swearing up and down that we'll be there by ten *cough*we'll see*cough*) if you're awake I could really use your help finishing some garb stuff. Is there a walmart in the nearby area by chance? Maybe you and I could make a quick WM run (and anyone else who is interested) so I can grab a few finishing pieces and or booze and flask if they have anything like that :)?
<3
So wish I was joining ya'll tonight but I have my first night at my new job so who knows what time I'll be done. I will see everyone bright and early in the morning and save a sip of Loki and mead for me, pleeeeease. ;D
Sorry, you're not legal yet. Have to wait for the magic 21.
