I've (finally) decided I want to come out to the FOF preview event. I still need to RSVP, hopefully it's not too late. My potentially silly question is, can you bring a non-FOF guest to the preview event? My friends occasionally attend Faire with me, but none of them will attend enough to validate the FOF pass.
If not, any FOFers want to adopt a lonely, single rennie? I don't mind attending myself and wandering alone, but that's no fun. :)
*Chuckle*
Please do not worry about being 'alone'.
The FOF dinner is well attended, and there are PLENTY of people to Glom onto.
as for bringing a non-FOF, no, only FOF's allowed.
We are pretty easy bunch to get along with; so no worries about it.
See you out there!
Lonely? Single? You'll be swarming with guys all around you!!!
I would be glad to accompany you during the FOF event. So would most of the other guys as the French guy said.
You won't be alone so don't worry. There will be plenty of people out there to wander with.
Thanks for the kind words, everyone! I'm painfully shy and, like a true geek, occasionally (err...often :) socially awkward. I look forward to meeting everyone out there!
Interesting bit of news from a posting on the Scarby Royal Guards board: The preview event is permitting garb this year. They're doing the ID card photos and they want the pictures to be in garb (since that's how they'll see us when we come to faire).
That is interesting. Makes sense for the pictures, I suppose.
Yes, it's confirmed, garb is allowed this year. As I now understand, there was no mailed letter, notification would have been in the Newsletter by email.
If you haven't RSVP'd for the FoF event and you purchased a FoF pass online, be sure to call (not email) the Faire office and do so before tomorrow!!!

Ditto - that is interesting. However I look forward to seeing everyone in mundanes so I'm actually a tad disappointed. I'll probably still go mundane or very casual ren.
Hm, wish someone would have etold me about them wanting the photos on our ID cards to be in garb.
:/ Cause I took my at NTIF and I was in 'danes.
It's always nice to see people in garb but I guess I'm like Nic, I kind of look forward to seeing everyone in danes for the Preview.
The photo on your passes is about the size of a postage stamp, and is head/face only... so unless you have some spectacular headpiece, it probably doesn't show that much in the photo. But it's a nice concession.

That's cool, I was thinking I was only going to wear danes with some sort of ren hat. If the weather is cool, I'll throw my cloak on.
Just got an email from the Scarby home office. Here's an excerpt that may help anyone who has not RSVP'd yet:
"the last day to RSVP for the Friend of the Faire Preview event is Wednesday, March 25."
Okay, time to clear a few things up on Friends of the Faire this year.
First, thanks to Al-nimer for passing along info.
Second, we did not send letters this year since most of our sales were online. We sent newsletters. You can also find everything that you need to know on the Scarborough Website www.ScarboroughRenFest.com. We have a special Friend of the Faire section. If you haven't been there, you should check it out.
Third - Please forgive me but I am going to post last week's newsletter again at the end of these comments.
Fourth - Only Friends of the Faire are allowed at the preview event and if their children have a season pass they are welcome as well (since there is not a child's Friend of the Faire membership). If you bought a Friend of the Faire membership and your significant other bought a Season Pass, your significant other is not invited.
Fifth - The final day to RSVP for the preview event and dinner is March 25. We extended it.
Sixth - There will be a special final dress rehearsal of the Wine Tasting at the Cat and Fiddle. It is first come, first served.
****** FRIENDS OF THE FAIRE AND SEASON PASS HOLDERS PLEASE NOTE *******
The last day to have your photo ID picture scheduled and made in the office or to E-MAIL your picture is Wednesday, March 25. After that you will have to have your picture made at the gate. We highly recommend emailing your picture to pictures@SRFestival.com so that we can have your photo ID pass ready when you first arrive this season.
OPENING DAY – We will have two lines for those who do not already have their photo ID's. Line #1 will be for those who have sent in their pictures. (It will be the faster moving line.) Line #2 will be for those who still need their pictures taken. (It will be the slower moving line.) We will open the lines at 9 am on opening day at the Souvenir Gypsy Wagon outside the front gate. BE SURE AND BRING YOUR ONLINE PRINTED TICKET!
************* FRIENDS OF THE FAIRE ONLY **************************
Friends of the Faire will be able to have their picture ID's made at the Friend of the Faire Preview event on Sunday, March 29 as well.
Speaking of which, the last day to RSVP for the Friend of the Faire Preview event is Wednesday, March 25. Remember this event is for Friends of the Faire only.
