Let us know if you plan on going in garb or not for the preview event.
I actually think it would be kind of cool to see an entire faireground full of garbed people.
I'll update the list as you chime in.
Dane:
Al-Nimer
Nicolas-Antoine
Don Juan de Cordoba
Dona Catalina
Garb:
Tukaram
Eloquent
Ryk
Macintyre
Lady Katherine
Sir Richard Bear
Queeneleanore
SandrineDeLaTombe
Var Greyshadow
In the past we were asked not to come in garb. Only the cast is in garb so that they can see who is not cast and practice their act with them.
Oops! I read in another post that garb is being allowed this time due to pics for IDs being made at the FOF event. Now I have to decide if I want to do that. Already have the ID, but I really like wearing garb.
Yes, it's confirmed, they are allowing it this year for the ID photos. There will still be people there in 'danes, but I agree, seeing the village with all-garbed people would be surreal! Finally!
Capt. Marga
I was only going to wear danes with some sort of ren hat. If the weather is cool, I'll throw my cloak on. So, less than half-garbed.
I will be there in garb... mostly because of a stupid mistake of me working there this year.
My stupid mistake or theirs? We shall see.
I just got hired on with a new job and I don't know if they're going to make me work that Sunday.... :-\ but depending on if I work that morning or whatnot, I'll probably be in some form of garb...maybe.
Wow, I guess it would be best to be in garb for the ticket/ID. I guess we will wear ours if most everyone else is...
I'm still debating. I have new garb that I would love to wear, but I was also looking forward to wandering around for a day in relative comfort, lol. I with Al-Nimer, maybe garb-lite.
That's what I was thinking, garb-lite. Just enough that the picture looks like we are at the Faire. Tis getting close in time...........
my vote is for garb.
Lady Katherine and I will be in danes for the FOF preview cause as she put it "we will wear garb for the faire as it's not all ready yet"
Lady Katherine has changed her mind. We will be in garb. ;D
Danes.
I'll be kilted
only three more days!
I'm going to say garb, but comfy garb. And the weather's supposed to be nice too! 72 degrees and sunny.
Perfect weather! Srtill trying to figure out what garb I'm gonna wear!
I'm thinking garb, but light on the accessories. May be garb-lite if it's warm.
I am sooooo jealous! *pouts* ;)
I have to wait till Opening! lol ;)
My thinking was to be in grab aka kilt but leave the sword and stuff at home. Its no like we'll be doing guard, parade, weddings etc for the preview.
I agree with Sir Richard, go in garb but leave the weapons and most of the accessories at the manor.
Depending on when I get there, I will be in need of someone to lace me up. :)
I'm always ready to tie errrr lace up a lady.
Weather forecast may have changed... they are talking possibly only in the 50's... plan on bringing cloaks or jackets!
Have fun!
Marga
With only about 42 hrs till FOF preview, are we all garbing, going garb light or in danes. I don't want to be the odd one out.
The majority consensus seems to be garb to garb-lite. At least enough so your picture looks like you in garb.
My question is (since I'm the n00b :)), for those who have been to the preview event in the past, what is the general course of events for the afternoon? I know the website said pictures are starting at 1pm and dinner is at 4pm. Is everyone basically getting there at 1pm? I'd hate to get there too early and then be wandering about by my lonesome. :-\

We'll show up a little early...........with wine in the cooler as usual.
We'll be in my little car, probably.
I'll try to be there by 12:30. Last year, the way it went to my knowledge was- a costume show, then just walking about the grounds, talking with people, then dinner, then the cast get out of costume, and everyone hangs out, I think.

An odd one at the faire?? Never! ::)
I think it will be a good utilikilt day. They are calling for mid 60's for Sunday.
We should be there right at 1:00. Still working on whether to go in garb. I'm thinking maybe a garb shirt for the pic and changing after the pic, Sherry is going to just wear her "easy to change" dress. The original reason to go non-garb was for the cast to practice on us right? Looks like the weather should be nice, might be a little breezy..."partly cloud with a high near 70, SW wind 7 - 15 with gusts to 20". See you all tomorrow. Can't believe it is finally here!
MSN weather says the highs are going to be in the very low 60's
weather.com says high of upper 60s. Considering I don't have a cloak yet, if it's cold, I probably won't be in garb. But you know Texas, if you don't like the weather, wait five minutes.
For anyone who is considering not garbing, I'm not garbing. I am wearing a unique jacket from Boss Wench but I'm wearing it with 'dane' clothing. So, if you want to go 'garbless' you won't be alone.
We'll be in 'Danes ourselves. The forecast has changed again. the high for Sunday is supposed to be 72.
LEaving Bowie now...naked...err garbless.
Otteinrich and I will be garbing, but I think I will bring danes to change into for the dinner ;)
Will be leaving Denton soon! :D
I'll be in mundanes and a snood. Really don't feel like dressing up today. Should be there 'tween 12:30 and 12:45. See everyone there!
I just wanted to say that it was super cool hanging out with everyone today and can't wait for this coming weekend.
Had a really great time today! Perfect weather, lets hope that Opening is a repeat! ((minus the sun, ladies, a constant reminder, bring sun screen and/or a parasol, because bodice burn is not fun at all))
The faire site is going to be green and lush, and the new tavern is quite nice from it seemed when I peeked my head in.
Can't wait for this Saturday and can't wait to see everyone! :D
EDIT: BTW, it was wonderful to meet a couple people for the first time, including Al-Nimer + cowgrrl and SandrineDeLaTombe! Sorry to those I didn't catch!
Yesterday was a ton of fun! So wonderful to see so many good friends again. Yes, the new pub is awesome! Several of us attended the wine tasting and really enjoyed it. They said the pub will also have craft beers, so I expect this will be our new favorite pub (second only to the Car Bar).
Can't wait for this weekend!!
Where are the photo's from the FOF event??? I have been waiting patiently for someone to post them... ;D
I'm workin' on it woman! :D It could be late tonight before I get mine up cause I have a lot to do today after class before I run to Dallas for my renaissance dance class.
I saw Al-Nimer and Cowgrrl from the back.......rapidly disappearing into the crowd. I thought I saw Sandrine once but I lost her before I could get over there.
It was great to see those of you that I did get to chat with.
On to Opening! ;D
I really enjoyed meeting you, Eloquent! You'll have to be my go-to gal to meet everyone else now! :)
Where is the new tavern? We didn't walk around the entire faire but we didn't find it. Of course, its totally possible we walked right by it & didn't realize it.
I posted a few pics I took at the Human Chess Board. Check here: http://angusmacinnes.yuku.com/topic/7307

"The Cat and Fiddle Tavern" is by the Joust Field.

OK, that explains it. We didn't go any farther in that direction than the stage with the bellydancers & Rogues.
The wine tasting was interesting. With the times they will be I won't be able to make any during the faire. The 1:00 is during parade and the 3:00 won't leave me enough time to get to Scottish Court.
It was good to see old friends. Thanks to those of you who came in garb, because I could recognise you. There were too many people I didn't know until I got close.
I was just checking the entertainment schedule to see what shows might be at that new pub but it isn't listed... will there be any?
*Or is it just a nice place to drink my rum?*
Yep! there is a great show; it is a participatory Wine Tasting.
At 1pm and 3pm daily.
30$'s a head; 6 wines to taste, and you get to keep the glass.
(At least that was what Flynn Markly told me)
If I am wrong, don't shoot me; Berit will know for certain.
No stage at the new pub buts its close to the jousting field and is suppost to have an out door section open next weekend. Depending on crowds you could watch the joust from the back patio section.
I stopped by "The Cand and Fiddle Tavern" yesterday and it looks like is going to be a nice place to hang out at.
What Lilaney said!

I don't have them all posted yet, but everything but the bellydancers is there (mostly just from Front Gate & 3:30 chess match).
eloquent & Macintyre, it was nice to finally meet you! It was great to see everyone else :)
Here are a few of the RFers I caught at faire! :)

I totally didn't notice that they were building a new pub. Isn't there already the pub by the jousting field? The Alehouse pub, right?
Kinda the Alehouse is next to the Archery range and is were Iris and Rose perfrom. The "The Cat and Fiddle Tavern" is the old armour or as it is listed on the map kight's realm. Its between the joust field and the games/petting zoo.
It is not a new building, but the one with the two giant suits of armor out front. In the past it has been the Armory, a Museum, and last year the barrel maker was there (he has a new shop now).
