Being a bloody Scot (unfortunate edged weapon malfunction) I am wondering when the Celtic weekend will happen. I have been dilligently checking the website every day for the theme of the week. Anyone know when they'll post it or have inside info.
I can guess :)
June 13th, 14th - Opening (You meet)
June 20th, 21st - Ale Festival (you get drunk - also Father's Day)
June 27th, 28th - Love and Romance (You get married)
July 4th, 5th - Kid's Weekend (You have kids)
July 11th, 12th - Celtic Weekend (You go to Ireland for a second honeymoon)
July 18th, 19th - Wine Weekend (You start drinking heavily)
July 25th, 26th - Pirate weekend or Masquerade weekend (You forget who you are)
Aug 1st, 2nd - Closing Weekend - (You leave and never see each other again...until next year)
This is just a guess and often Celtic and Wine weekends get reversed. It might depend on when they can get people there. I'm fairly sure of four of them. Opening, Closing, Kids, and Ale. Kid's weekend is the weekend closet to July 4th. Ale weekend is usually Father's Day weekend. Military weekend used to be Celtic weekend. But wasn't it last year that it was Free Beer weekend?
As to when it will be posted, Late April, Early May if you're lucky.
Thank you, Tanda now I can guess more accurately.
Just one question, every time I asked last year about free beer weekend, they told me it was the next weekend. So I kept coming back, but no free beer....what's up with that? I'm so confused.
Ian
I think free beer weekend has been the 2nd weekend consistently for the past few years now. Wine weekend usually shifts around. The free beer only lasts from like, 11-1 though, maybe that's why people were telling you different things?
I wonder if they'll do military weekend on the 4th of July? That would be kinda nice. (I say we stay open late on that night and shoot off fireworks from the Puke and Snot stage! Do you think the PTB will go for it??)

Oh no, you're on to our little secret to keep you coming back. Eep. But yes, the actual Free Beer is a limited time thing. At one pub, in small quantities, and with very long lines. Same with the Wine Tasting, but those lines, in my observation, are a little shorter.

Maaaybe. I think TRF closes with fireworks every day. can't hurt to ask.
Come every weekend ;D ... there are quite a few regulars from the Western Slope, I believe ...
As for fireworks ... You'd probably have to also check the fire rules for whatever that land is surrounding the faire ... and with the dry winter we've had ...
And yes, TRF closes with fireworks every faire day. AWESOME show too! Even better that Disneyland's. They shoot them over a lake.

So, we just need a lake? I guess the Bog of Eternal Stench that was going on on the evil side of the joust field doesn't quite count? You might be able to stick a sparkler in it. Although the wasps sure did like it.
Better fireworks than Disney? Blasphemy! :)
I did pyrotechnics at Elitches last year, if they got me the Fire, I'd do the Work! Ha ha ha....
OOH I could rig gerb spinners onto the spires of the gate and have those go off! They aren't a fire hazard, you can even stand directly under them and won't get hurt. (We tried that last year haha) So it would look pretty and not start a fire!
I would be TOTALLY apposed to Fireworks at Larkspurshire. With the forests, the dryness and the lack of a lot of water to fight a fire that WOULD start, I don't want to see our Most Excalant and Beautiful faire and the tree's and mountains around it to burn to the ground.
Places like TRF have a lake near them that they can shoot fireworks over. Other faires have the ocean. If Colorado had a faire that had it's own lake or pond them I could see it happening, but not at CoRF in that time of year or any time of year as Fireworks in the mountains are usually banned unless once again they are shot over a lake like in Estes or Grandby. Other small towns in Eastern Colorado with no lakes do not fire fire works because of the chance of fire and there are not so many tree's to burn down like at our faire.
Now if we could get a couple of seige weapons or a bombard and lay siege to a dirt mound, then that would be quite fun!
And back to our regularly scheduled programming ...
Themed weekends are posted to the Web site!

Well, I got 50% of them. Totally forgot about Music Weekend! I'm a terrible band geek.
Yay. The celtic weekend is my favorite! Fireworks would be a nice addition...
BOOM! BOOM! ON go the lights!
For those who can't wait for fireworks to come to CRF. Mayhaps you'll have to travel to Perry Park golf course for an in person live show. It's done over the lake, about 10 miles from faire. (There's also Palmer Lake fireworks for those heading that way).
Here's a 4 min clip from Perry Park 2008, including a Romanceteers Heart fire work 'splosion! In person, the noise from said fireworks will echo thru the valley, so there is this interesting natural reverberation of booms that subside until the next volley's BOOM true........

Ooh, maybe we should all gather for those? That would be fun!
