Title: Lolly not performing?
Post by: Julianne on April 06, 2009, 07:44:25 AM
 :( :o

I heard a rumour (?) that Lolly will not be the Queen this year. !!!!! I know...horrible right?

The scuttle was that her contract was not renewed.

Any of you folks hear this?
Tell me it's all false!!!!!

I would not be surprised either way.

However, this is only April.  Things have a way of changing day-by-day.

Don't know if true or not.  I do know she is the only queen I remember, though I have been attending since '80.  Say's something about her persona.

Then again, it could say something more telling of my "formative" years!

Contracts are all over the place per usual. I'm almost positive that few to none of the entertainers have received any information regarding their contracts. I've talked to several people and they are all mentioning that they have no idea either.

So...it could be possible, but I'm thinking it has to be more along the lines of contracts not going out yet for entertainment or if she's not queen, it could be possible that she personally is not going to be at fest. I haven't heard anything definite though.

I think I recall hearing something about this last year.  If I remember correctly, I think she was only doing MNRF this year and no other faires.  I may very well be mistaken.

YES!  This is absolutely a confirmed truth.  Lolly's contract was not extended, at least not as queen.  There is still no information regarding if she will perform at our festival in another capacity.

Lolly also requests of everyone to make the new queen feel as welcome as you all made her, she did not want the new queen to feel slighted over this whole ordeal and that she whoever she may be had absolutely NOTHING to do with the contract not being renewed.

Thats what's up.

Yeah, there as been a rumor that Peterson wanted someone younger to play the role of queen next to John Behr ( http://mrffriends.tripod.com/pages_people/behr.html) who now plays the king.

That's a class act. I have to admire a person like that.

I have worked with her before when I was with the guard.  I have never heard one single person ever say anything credibly bad about her.

I hope she feels free to explore her other personas and have some fun!

That is also the rumor I have heard, basically that JP thinks Johnny should have a trophy wife.  So basically he wants Johnny to marry people like he does and end up paying out multiple alimonies.

Ba dum bum!

This came up in conversation the other day. According to a couple people and from what they got from talking to her, she's going for her master's degree and it's not contract related.

Yup in the green. That was a few years ago when John Behr was just the prince

Well anyway...I just hope Lolly will be performing in some capacity ...she's just too good not to be.  Any Renaissance Festival is the better to have her....regardless of her role.

awwww :-*
You are too kind!

I have to tell (warn?) all the MNRF'ers that the Marquis has expanded his French contingency.   More cousins will likely be making their debut with us during Labour Day Weekend.

Reposted from the MNRF participants Elist:

An official announcement has been made on the Facebook page Minnesota
Renaissance Festival Performing Cast
. We have a new Queen!

From that page:
"I am announcing this here, assuming it will propagate to the rest of the cast.

We had a brief meeting with the MRF Court this morning, and we announced that
Linda Clayton will be our next Queen. However, we will not have a Queen for the
2009 season, instead we are going to have a "courting" year in which our King
will discover and eventually ask for Linda's hand at marriage. The marriage will
happen in 2010, hopefully a big ceremony and any other fun we can have with it
(John..a bachelor party perhaps!)

There are many things to work out, but that is the plan. Linda did not campaign
for the roll, but was amongst several considered. We opted out of auditions,
preferring to stay within our ranks.

I'm sure this will make it's way through the festival conversation and I would
hope that we'd all help Linda, John and the Court make the best of this. We'll
have some fun!

Cheers!

Carr"

2010 sounds like it could be a real blast!

The "courting" part has me a tad concerned...My wife and her friends have made a few comments about the King's...uhum, *cough*...arse...*cough*.   ;D

Oh yes ND...  I believe Syn and I snapped a or two photo of our King's best side last year.  ;D The man can wear a pair of hose.

Wow, so we're going to have a crazy queen?  ;D  Will the king be courting Antonia the Painter, or will she drop that character to become someone else for the king to court?

I was curious about that as well, somehow I suspect she will drop being Antonia the Painter.  Love my conquer all but I don't think insanity is included in "all"

Well, -as long as she can produce an "heir and a spare"...  ::)javascript:void(0);

Is Linda Clayton "Antonia the Painter"?  God I hope not...I love that character!

In truth all things change or they become stale.  I love seeing "Antonia" and would regret her parting but there are a lot of "old" characters long gone I miss too.  Still if they did not part I would never get to see the new characters I have come to love!

Change is a very bad thing, but no change is worse.

I don't know; I think the king attempting to court Antonia would make for a very interesting faire season... :D

I don't know DB, she might just "Brush him off".   ;D

It's true. There is a new "Queen-in-training" This year will be a "courting time" with the "Wedding" in 2010.

Groan!  That was terrible!  LOL

I will also miss Antonia the Painter.  She's such a dear character.  Huzzah to the new Queen!

Of course should the King "paint her into a corner" she may acquiesce.   ;D

Should be interesting to see how they handle the Queen's Tea.  "Quiche with a Courtesan", perhaps?

I thought the Duchess of Diddle was the emcee for the Tea anyway, so it might not be much different except for no crowned royal in attendance.

Antonia was involved with the Wine Tasting with Roma. I think that will be the only downside....

Lolly is a legend I think.  She will always be dearly loved as a performer and as an individual an amazing actor especially at Faire.  Personally I find her talents to be a catch for any Faire and hopefully someday she may return as she is an asset to any venue in any character....bravo to her.

After our visit during Labour Day Weekend and the incessant ::) and probably irritating  :P "flirtatations" of The Marquis and The Comte of her Ladyship...I've no doubt that the Countess of Newcastle will make a fine Queen.  She certainly has the patience for it...
(does anyone know if she got the pickles?)

The MNRF will be in good and lovely, caring hands in my certain most humble opinion as a lowly but dedicated visitor.

She's a very good sport.

I agree Julianne, I think she'll do great, but Lolly will always have a special place in everyones heart as one of the bestest of all performers in the role of Queen there. But change is not always a bad thing, it just takes a little adjustment on everyone's part.

Yup, once Lolly finishes her master's degree (apparently the real reasons she stepped down as queen, as opposed to being dropped) If she has time it would be lovely to see her on site as her story teller role of "Lolly Pockets"
