Wow- lots of great pictures.
You took some good close-ups of people! I also liked the pictures of the items around Scarby- one of the pictures that was my favorite was the colorful hanging glass..roung things (sorry, don't know what they were).
Umm..what was up with the guy in the green and yellow hooded carpet?
Excellent pictures Reaper.
I'll show mine now :)

You would be surprised, these long legs can carry me quite quickly and silently away. I do understand the ease with which a photog can get distracted at the faire :)
Great pictures everyone! I am still so amazed at how much fair becomes a lifestyle and how you can submerse yourself in it again by looking at pictures though out the week.
Great Pics Valt! I will share with the cast.
Great pictures!!
Hey all, I'll be posting photos here http://picasaweb.google.com/ScottD6057/ this year. FOF preview and first weekend are up now.

I cannot wait top come down for the Memorial weekend's festivities. I saw the nice one by valt of Ottheinrich in his pirate garb I made him in 2007. Still looking great after all those wearings!!!
2nd weekend Saturday was great weather. Just finished uploading my pics. Heading out of the hotel now but not going to take the Nikon D90 to Scarby today due to the rain. However, Rae will have her lil point and shoot so maybe we can take a few today too.
Here you go..

As always Paul, your pictures are fun and superb. While you are not a member of the cast, you are essential to the success of Scarby. Your work always seems to capture the essence of Scarby and the joy of the wonderful and talented cast and players. You should be the official "lead historian" because your work is what brings out so many special memories for so many people. Thank you Paul. Without you and the precious few gifted others who post their great pictures, speaking for myself, I would have to solely rely on my worn and long used memory. There are only so many times I can overwrite my processor without suffering data degradation and loss. Thank you again Paul. You and the others of your "Guild" should be recognized at court and rewarded for your loyalty and contributions. You have long earned a royal badge of honour. Perhaps HRH KHT8, HRH QA, and HRH QM can reward you and the other masters of your special talented guild.
Well spoken Ben and I agree heartily! Huzzah to Paul and his lovely photos! Cheers to the rest of the wonderful photographers out there too. I have so many wonderful pictures of Lord A.and our happy times at faire. Thanks to all of you! Those are so precious to me. You have no idea! Keep up the good work!
I really appreciate all the pics you guys take. I used to take lots of my own, but just rarely have a chance any more. Need to stay in character or just being busy: pike arches for weddings (8 so far this year), running after Queen Margaret, lugging a harp from place to place, parade, and getting to and from those places. So I have to download someone else's pics.

This weekend I was determined to catch at least one or two shots of the photographers that are regulars at Faire. Those of us behind the lens don't often get to be in the memories we create through the lens.
The MPIII Players shots came out better than I had expected. I like this one the most, http://picasaweb.google.com/ScottD6057/Scarby4thWeekend#5329962842790385746

I have to upload mine ASAP... Twig decided to steal my digital camera and strike some "myspace" style poses. *snicker*
Thanks for everyone taking the time to take photos of our shows. I personally appreciate having them documented somewhere for sentiment and they are really great shots.
I'm here, I promise I'm alive! I got caught up AGAIN. *whew*

Al-Nimer, your son did a fabulous job! I hated having to miss the coronation, so seeing his pictures was a treat. Thanks!

Your pictures are absolutely gorgeous! You seem to capture everyone in their best light and mood. you got a wonderful one of my husband (Chris B.) which we really appreciate since he generally doesn't get any pics taken on the weekends I'm not there to take them. Thanks!!
So many great photos! Keep 'em coming !

Finally!!
With much wailing and gnashing of teeth (and many sleepless nights), our coronation shots are up on Rensites. We were limited in our movement during the ceremony, so don't judge too harshly for variety Ignore the order, we are still working on that... output from two camera bodies apiece have not been chronotized yet.
There will be more to come... she has another 50 or so to gen, and I have probably another 10-20 to do. Here are the paths...

<Jaw falls open> You and your lady have done a spectacular job of capturing the ceremony! Even more-so considering the contraints you were shooting under.
Still love your ladyship's detail shot of the crown sitting on the blue and silver cloth. Love your shots of VIII in full regalia crown, scepter, and orb. Also the shot of Queen Anne with her crown.
I'm sure the cast will be overjoyed with the results. And a big HUZZAH! to the cast for pulling out all the stops to recreate an idea of the spendor of the event. Well done!
Those are abnsolutely stunning!
I wish I could have been there, but the photos tell a lovely story. Thank you very much for taking them!!!!
Thank you one and all for the kind words. All we did was point and shoot... the cast did the rest. They put on a stellar show, even through a few suppressed tears (yes, we captured those as well) ;)
BTW, kudos to the cast for allowing us in so close to the action! They made holes for us to duck into. And, thanks to all the other photographers that we flitted in front of while trying for the shots... everyone shooting was VERY cognizant of everyone else's line of sight, and extremely courteous in making spaces so that everyone had opportunities.
I'm sure there were better angles out there... so much photographic talent was amassed in one spot that there have to be hundreds of stunning shots waiting for an audience. We are but one small slice of the picture pie :) I wanna see the whole pie!
Stalk well...
My rogue and I have been to Scarby every other weekend. We were curious if any one managed to get a photo of my husband. I'm thinking of surprising him with a nice shot from the faire. My husband is a little hard to miss. Some of the cast and performers have started calling him "Jean- Flamingo -The Pink Pirate". He is all in shades of pink, a black cavalier hat, magenta pink cape with a bright red drabbit on his shoulder.
Might someone have gotten a shot of him? just curious.
I saw him several times but he was walking to fast to catch. Tell him to slow down a bit.
;D
And I am hunting for someone who might have gotten pictures of the May 3rd Joust to the Death

Yell out "Pink Pirate!" or "Quizzik!" ( the name of his Drabbit) and he will stop. He will happily stop for attention. Especially for a pretty lady ;D

Thank you to all of you that save these moments for those of us that can't, and for sharing them with all of us. It is a wonderful gift you give.
I would like to ask a few of our fine photographic friends for a festival flavored favor. This Saturday the villagers of Scarborough would like to have a group picture taken first thing in the morning. We are hoping to gather the cast village together at 10:15 AM at the Cross in Crown Meadow. The goal is to quickly, painlessly get a group shot and then let everyone free for the rest of the day. Thanks in advance for any of you photographers that are able to help us out with this.
Be Well

It was a wonderful day. I used my "old" 70-300mm lens. Interesting to see the difference between it and '70-200mm L' glass after not having shot it for about a year.
Reality: It's the people and moments that make the image.

I took a little over 4,400 shots over the three day weekend. Based on how many it appears I will end up with, I estimate that it will take about 26 hours of editing to get them ready to post. With a full time job, a little sleep now and then, and only being able to spend so many hours at a stretch on the computer at a time, I hope to get them done by Sunday at the latest.
Paul, take your time. Even though we all wriggle with anticipation, your photos are always worth it! For those of us who can't carry cameras around (cast, etc) you and the others who tote the heavy lenses are our memories of faire!!
THANK YOU!!

4400, huh?
In my film load out days, I would buy for a calculation of 1 shot a minute, based on one TRF event of the past. So for a 12 hour day, that's 720 shots.
Even if we say that Scarborough is 12 hour event daily (for me, at best 11 hours), that's still exceeding a rate a shot every 30 seconds.
In the worlds of Thomas Edison......use the other foot.

of Faire. Go raibh maith agaibh.

Awesome photos, as always! Thanks so much for taking one of Cowgrrl & myself at FoF...it's better than the ones with my camera ;)
Thanks to everyone for sharing your pics with us. Working in the Dungeon all day makes it difficult to get out and see a lot of the sights. I never even made it over to the Pecan Grove this year.

The first set of pics are mine. The images starting with the 3 car fire shots in a row are from Anita Goodman. We ran across that on the drive up.
