Are there relatively inexpensive but pretty parasols available at Scarborough, or should I go ahead and get the one I've been eyeing at Earthbound? As a pale and nerdy lady, the sun is lethal to me, so in addition to sunblock I wanted to carry a parasol. Thanks in advance.
I don't think that I've seen any merchants selling parasols at Scarby. Maybe somebody else has??
I bought mine at TRF last season...
I'd say that buying it from Earthbound would be a good idea depending on the price. Element of Air bought a couple of paper parasols at Hobby Lobby awhile back but I don't know if I've seen any lately.
Check online too, there are some decently priced parasols that are sturdy.
Yes, every spring season Hobby Lobby has paper parasols in orange, green, red, purple, pink, and yellow. The blue has a Hawaiian pattern on it (usually big pink flowers) They sell for about 4-5 dollars but about May they go on sale for half off. I have about two in every color incase one rips and I want to have a back up. It is great for the sun and they cast a beautiful tint on your skin for photos when the sun is shining.
Great images come when using a colored paper parasol.
Only problem is that they are strictly sun shades and NOT water friendly in any manner.
Thanks so much! I think I'll check there before this Sunday.
You might also try Ebay. I've seen some rather nice lacy ones for about $25 (I think). I was drooling over one at the feather things shop (across from the pasta place - can't recall the name) opening weekend, but those were around $100. Too much for something my Dickens character MIGHT use once a year.

I got a brand new black lacy one on Ebay for $7.50. The rest were selling for between $20-25. I guess no one wanted black! Which was fine with me, as it matches my noble gown, and is when I mostly use it.
Dragon Wings over in Pecan Grove has fancy parasols, but they're dressier and a bit more on the expensive side. She may have some less expensive ones, though, I'm not sure. I'm not allowed in that store too often because I'll spend way too much money on parasols and hats and things. :)
They're the booth with the marionettes hanging outside, across from Victor's Pasta Palace.
That's what I was thinking of! Thanks, Lys!
