When it comes to fast food, I mostly do subs. I rarely go to a McDonalds, a Burger King, a Taco Johns, etc. I bet I have a least one sub a week for lunch. Every Friday is order inn day at work. Me and a bunch of my co workers order food in for lunch from someplace. Usually it's subs, and it's Jimmy Johns or Quiznos we order from (since they are the 2 that deliver). We have had some debate over who has the best subs and I thought I'd bring that question here to see what you all think.
Personally. I like Subway the best. I think they have the best bread (and, a wide variety of it at that). Also, I like that they let you choose the type of cheese you want. Furthermore, all of the free fixings you can add is another plus I really like about them. You can really customize your sub there!
After Subway I like Quiznos a lot too. I like toasted steak subs, and they have the best when it comes to that. Plus, they have a french dip sub! French Dips are one of my all time favorite sandwiches!
Jimmy Johns is OK, I guess. It's probably the place we order from the most at work. It's the place that most of my co workers really like. The things I don't like about Jimmy Johns though, is that I don't think their sub bread is all that great. Their wheat bread, on the other hand, for their on wheat option (which makes the sandwich a true sandwich on normal bread, not on sub bread) is really good. This is usually the route I go. I also don't like the fact that a lot of their sandwiches come without cheese and you have to pay to add that. Cheese is like a staple element of sandwich as far as I am concerned! It should be standard on all subs.
Cousins is OK too. Don't really go to one of those much. I am not even sure where the closest one to my house is.
Blimpies I don't care much for. Never really liked their subs. Haven't been to one in at least 5 years. maybe they have gotten better.
Of course, all this being said, even though Subway is my favorite place for subs when it comes to fast food, when it comes to a eat in, sit down lunch or dinner, nothing beats the hot hoaiges at the Carbones bar and restaurant right down the road from our place. My wife and I go there a few times a month for dinner and beers! I love their hot roast beef hoagie!
Well, this is a tough one. For hot sammiches, I like Quiznos. For cold, it's Jimmy John's for sure!
I voted Quiznos, even though I eat at Subway more. I've never had Jimmy Jams, Cousins or Blimpies that I recall. I flat out refuse to eat at Erbs and Gerbs unless they have a soup I like, and then thats all I eat. I've had too many bad sandwiches from there.
i used to work at a subway.
so yea, subway. i couldnt imagine anything other than a subway sub, they're just... perfect.
Mine isn't listed. We have heartstone bakery here and those are just... the bestest ever
*I would of course alter my vote in favor of any sub place that served rum tho*
I fell in love with Jimmy John's this year because there was one right down the road from my dorm. They deliver till 3 in the morning, so that was handy. ;D I love their BLTs, the bread is amazing.
But I can still always go for a great Bacon Chicken Ranch toasted sub at Subway, too.
Well for the national chains Subway is our only choice unless we drive 60 miles to Quiznos. We do have a local pizza place that does custom cold subs and delivers, I really like them. Of course once I get my coffee shop open then mine will be my favorite ;D.

A Subway club, toasted, on Italian herb and cheese bread. And at the limited time offer price of 5.00 for a footlong, there's two lunches there! :)
The preceeding has been a paid advertisement for Subway, Eat Fresh!! ;D ;)
I voted Jimmy Johns, myself. The best I had was from a little gas station in Key West. Cuban pork sammiches!! Heaven on bread, my friends, Heaven on bread! AND they were open 24/7!!
Hehe.. I don't eat at ANY of the above!! But that's because I'm in the amazing city of Lafayette, LA.. where there is NOTHING to do except eat and drink. Here, they call subs "po-boys", like they did back home in Texas, and there are no less than 25 po-boy shops within a half hour of here. With so many shops to choose from, there is absolutely no reason to go to any of the mass produced sub-shops listed in the poll.
My favorite so far (I still have a dozen shops to try, at least) is the alligator po-boy from BJ's. <insert drool here>.
Of the chains polled Quiznos my choice, but the best subs I've ever had are from Penn Station. Yum!
None of the above - My top 3 in Austin, TX
1. Jersey Mike's
2. Thundercloud Subs (local original)
3. Delaware Subs (University of Texas Tackle Jerry Sizemore couldn't get enough of that Philly Cheesesteak goodness! Brought it home!)
I kinda only listed the "chain" places on my poll, since I figured everyone would have their little, local home town favorites (kinda like my Carbones)....
But, heh, a good subs, a good sub....right!?...
I am happy to hear about them all!...
Firehouse subs are the best. They all the ones listed.
If it's local fare then Intermission Deli fer sure!! They bake their own bread and the subs are like a foot thick when they pack everything on them!
It is not a chain but the absolute best (in my humble opinion) is The Pickle Barrel in Bozeman MT, across from the University. And with each half sandwich you get to pick out your own dill.
In Houston, it has to be Lenny's. Beats Subway and Quiznos hands down.

Gwen, you ever try the po'boy at the Cabin in Burnside?
It's enough to make Buffet forget about his cheeseburger. ;)
I have not (only moved here last November, so I'm still learning where stuff is). I will have to put it on my list of places to track down when I have time and money to go adventuring. Eating is one of my favorite hobbies, so I'm always looking for places that come with a recommendation :)
It is at the junction of LA22 and LA44. An old slave cabin from the Monroe plantation.
In Burnside near Gonzalez between New Orleans and Baton Rouge.
I still crave the gumbo. :)
I voted subway...because that is the only place that has a chicken sub how I like it...and their italian bread. Gooey goodness! MMmmmmm...
Jimmy Johns ties though...because they have sprouts and YUMMYlicious sandwiches.
Actually, the best sub sandwich I have ever had came from a little meat market/deli in Brookings South Dakota...
Brookings was kinda my 2nd home when I was in college, and through out my 20's. I had lots of friends who were either from there or went to school there (U of South Dakota). I use to hunt out in SoDak a lot back in the day. Of course, my hunting buddies were all in Brookings too.
We all knew the owner of this meat market/deli. He was about our age (just a little older, I believe), and had taken the business over from his father. We always had him process our deer for us. Anyway, when ever I was in Brookings (which was a lot back then!) we'd always stop by the meat market and he'd whip us up a hot meatball sub. His specialty sandwich. This thing was a foot long mountain of meatballs, cheese and what ever kinda fixings you wanted him to throw on. Food of the gods I say! I have a big appetite and can put a good amount of food down in a sitting. It takes a lot to make me full. His subs made me full! None of the ones from the places I mentioned on this poll do. Got to have some chips or something to finish the job off with them.
*sigh*
But, alas, it's been at least 10 years since I had one of those subs. I don't get to Brookings much anymore, and our buddy sold the market and moved away a while back. The market is still there, but according to my friends who are still out there, their subs are no where near as good as when our buddy still owned the business.
I like JJ's but my faveorite sammich shoppe is the Spicy Pickle... mmmmmm yum
I like Quizno's but they never fail to screw up an order. I will eat Sammies and sometimes a sub, but mainly salads and soups. Subway is OK. It's been a year or longer sine I ate there. Last time I ate ata subway I got really sick. But then again I ate a seafood sub and the mayo could have been bad.
My personaly favorite is Silver Mine. it's a local place that is awesome and they deliver.
Ate at Jimmy Johns once, didn't like it.
Blimpies also do not like at all.
Anyone Remember Joyces Subs? They were awesome and came before any of the other subway cahin. Loved the Pizza sub from them.

oooooo Silver Mine is right near my office! yeah, they deliver until 3 AM
I also like Taste of Philly for cheese steaks **NOM NOM NOM**
Oh yeah, forgot about Taste of Philly.
Another favorite is a local place in Ft Collins, CO called the Yellow Sub. It's been a little out of the way place for over 20 years and still going strong. They actually have the best fries I have eaten there. It's called the Yellow Sub and Frank who owns it is a great guy.
I like em all, really...but Quiznos has a better toasted sub and I love Jimmy John's JJBLT.
shoot, now I am hungry.
Well, Jerry's wasn't on the list so i had to got with Q
Quizno's Turkey Bacon Guacamole!
I like both JJ's and Quiznos... Quiznos best (more variety).
They opened a Jimmy Johns in Murfreesboro, I'll have to check it out sometime.
Subway
The hot sandwiches from domino's Pizza are amazingly good.
I voted Subway, but the Rajun Cajun has the best po' boy sandwiches. Subway has improved their sandwiches over the years. I used to prefer Quiznos.
Hmm...this is tough. I have to go with a tie between Jimmy John's and Subway. It depends on if I'm in the mood for a roast beef or chicken sub. Jimmy John's has WAY better roast beef subs than Subway, but I also really like the teryiaki chicken at Subway.
Not a fan of Quizzno's, though their flatbread sandwiches are pretty good.
Though not a sub, I'm going to throw Panera Bread in the mix for really good sandwiches. They have an amazing veggie sandwich.
We don't have Jimmy John's down here.

MMMMM....Rajun Cajun...they ROCK! ;D
Some colleagues and I ate at the downtown underground one earlier this week. But, I had a bowl of shimp etoufee.
