And as for local eateries....

I had considered just getting a very large space at Ryan's Steak House- good prices, decent food, and it's a BUFFET! Perfect for post-faire munching and fellowship!
Let me throw in that the Super 8 is nice for the price, convienent to the faire and very popular with rennies. There have been a bunch of us every time I've stayed there, and they put up with us hanging around to pool until the small hours as long as we try to keep the noise down...... ::)
I don't have a list but if people are willing to drive a bit (30 minutes or so), there are several hotels (La Quinta, Choice & Hampton off the top of my head) in Mansfield.
Blue, you're a doll! Thanks for posting lodging info. Whether Scarby gets Rendezvous or not (I'm keeping my fingers crossed!!!), I really want to go next year and am looking to make the trip as affordable as possible. Doesn't hurt to start doing early research, and try to persuade others to attend! ;)
I voted, and look forward Scarborough 2010.
But is there a Wal-Mart handy?
And by handy, I mean no more than 4 turns away......

Well, yes, 4 turns but about 5 miles. Leave the fairegrounds (turn right). Cross 35E. Stay on the FM road. It veers left in through town. Up though the main drag, past the high school. Walmart, Tractor Supply, home depot, target, Ross, Olive Garden, Johnn Carinos, Chilis. Plenty o' stuff.
Capt Marga
and a target just on the other side of 287 if you feel like being fancy. teehee

I hope to God there are some decent blues clubs around..... :D
There aren't
For blues and jazz...you'll have to go into Ft Worth or Dallas.
Cooper St. in Arlington is waaaay too far from faire. Will you take that one off the list, Duckie?
And we could always make our own blues club. You know, I do go to a university with one of the most reknown jazz bands and music programs in the nation and stayed at the dorm hall that most freshman music students stay at. ;D
Oh, honey, I fully intend on going in to Dallas for blues and a great time.
Somehow I can't see Waxahatchie as being a mecca of music.
Oh, did I mention I voted for y'all?

I know of a few good places, Wenchie. There are some good jazz lounges, that I've been told.
*bouncy bouncy* YAY! :-*

It's not only way too far...it's way too 'not the place you want to camp'.
I voted for your faire, too. I so want to go there. Good luck! ;D
I'm totally looking forward to Scarby winning!! :D
You people have to actually come visit me though!! I can't escape very often! I got lucky this year with the couple of times I was allowed to escape to meet up with folks.

Dallas it is, love! Maybe we'll have to do Muddy Waters or the Balcony Club?

Lettuce? You'd be better off sustaining me with Loki and mac & cheese...
If there's mac and cheese involved, then you ain't sittin' in the trunk, honey!

Are you kidding? You get to ride shotgun!
We are soooooo kicking NY's arse.
Go SCARBY ! ! ! !
Outline of events planned for that weekend are still in discussion but at this point will include...
-Friday Night for Out of Towners: at a local bar. Blue has been in contact with a few different places in Waxahachie so we have options.
-0830-930 AM: Pre-Cannon Meet n' Greet!- Both mornings on Row 13 in Friends of Faire Parking before meandering over to front gate for the casts awesome morning. Sharing of the spirits and morning munchies usually takes place.
-Saturday Night Dinner: at a local restaurant. Again, Blue has been in contact and has some prospects.
A lot of ideas are still being thrown around, including a few activities during the faire day, maybe post-cannon tailgating for those that stay until Closing Cannon, and maybe Sunday night dinner for those still in town.
During the rest of the season, we usually have a Post-Parade Meet 'n Greet for all the forum members, but we don't want to deligate everything that everyone does, be here at this time, and then be here at that time, all that weekend because we want you to enjoy our faire and go see it for yourselves. It's a truly magical place and I really hope everyone gets to come and visit it in person, whether it be Rendevous 2010 or anytime after.

Ah! The Balcony Club! I LOVE that place!
They have a three-piece band made up of old Tuskegee Airmen Ground Crew. Not only do you get great music, but during the breaks, you get some great stories!
