It seemed that a lot of discussion in the Arizona forum had recently turned to our affections to this.
I just set up the thread to do so.
This will be the Marquis' and mine 5th year?...or is it 6th?...I really can't remember. Could be more.
At any counting, this is the best time I've had ever at any other Faire 'cept my own. In addition to it being my only vacation with my husband in any year...these folks let me sing crazy ugly and act wicked rennie and they still like me and continue to invite me back.
The Faire itself...ohmygosh...there isn't a finer faire. It's mostly the folks we know here that make this such a grand visit....but the Faire itself is superb...one of the best in the nation.
Methinks its now 9 weeks....I'm already on the plane.
Believe me, when you guys come up to visit, it's one of the highlights for me too. Can't hardly wait! ;D
I believe it is the 5th, sense we all started this adventure up north. Ok so I only made 2 trips then moved up here, but it will still be great to see everyone again. ;D

It is indeed a highlight of the run when we have all of our visitors!!
I can't wait for you all to see my new shiny.. I mean to see all of you! :-* ;) :D
Invasion?
Do we have to take something over, or post a flag or something?.
Come on guys!, tell us the rules.

Show up on time, DRINK, have fun, DRINK MORE, catch a show or two, DRINK HEAVELY, see Muffin's shinny, DRINK FROM A FLASK, do not get thrown out, DRINK A LITTLE MORE, and repeat the next day.
I believe that is all the rules. ;D
Sounds like there might be a bit of drinking involved.
Bacardi
I THINK we can handle those rules.
And yes, I will bring enough to share.
Viscomte
So... since it is an invasion, do us French have to walk through gate backwards so we can pretend we are retreating? ::)

Hmmmm
Plans will have to be made, perhaps a flag planted somewhere?
Viscomte
I just want it to rain this year.
I want it to be cloudy.
I want the temperature to be less than 100.
I know somewhere in there...Minnesota always delivers.
Did I mention that it's really really scorching hot right now?
Every Labor Day weekend I can remember it has rained...except for last year. That means we're in for a good downpour this year... ;D
Oh all that is holy, just and right...please make it so.
But even if it stays hot even there..(by your standards..chuckle*snort*) It will be worth moving the hades north to see you all again.
...and you let me warbly sing.
;)
I have that Saturday off since it is my and George's 6th anniversary. Think this is the first time Labor day and time off have coordinated for me. We can harass Muffin and Bacardi together!
WOOT!! OK I'm very ok with the cool, but can do without the rain
Hmmmmmmmmmm,
Cool?, Rain?
What are these things you speak of?
Viscomte
Cool - is beer
Rain - is when you walk by the Washing Wenches and they are spinning their wet towel around.

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm,
Must be a Minnesota thing.
I will just have to give it a try and see for myself.
BTW it's 111 degrees outside right now, so cold beer and washer wench run off sounds really good.
Viscomte
Escher just posted in the Mn sections some discount tickets, thought you might want to check it out. ;D
Mon Capitan....won't the Labor Day Weekend Season Pass be available again this year?
If not...then the 2 fer ticket is grand. Otherwise that weekend pass works great too.
I need a clock down...it's how many weeks?
J
Not soon enough for me!
I needs me some faire!
V
Well as I feared it would happen, something came up that ruined our plans to go up for Labor Day weekend and it is looking very bad for our chances to go up and join the fun. We are going to miss seeing you guys again. When I was in the hospital been I was actually crying, knowing that it had pretty much taken out our chances to go up. It's never fun when the ONE thing you were looking forward to all year is taken away from you.
Fig
Sorry to hear, get well soon.
Viscomte
Lord Fig! None of us had any idea you were in hospital!!! Are you okay?
I hope you are feeling better...and that is what is most important.
FIG!!! we miss you guys!!! I'm sorry to hear you were in the hospital, and hope all is well. We wish you were coming with, and hope for a speedy recovery
OK
We now have 48 days till happy time!
Viscomte
Tanks for the well wishes all. I can't tell you how much we have missed all of you too. We have had a lot of things happening lately. Brandi was offered a promotion at work, with a job for me as well. Part of the offer was a new place to live on property at the hotel properties where we both now work. I can understand they wanted her, but they must have been pretty desperate to have to put up with me too. So we now live in the little town of Needles CA, right on the border. It's great to be back working. But the very first week when we moved I was having exceptional pain issues. Brandi says I was trying to do to much, and she is probably right of course. But I just can't sit around while other people move our stuff in, besides I have to do SOMETHING. But I ended up taking a little to much Tylenol and we think that lead to me getting a massive bleeding ulcer, which was put me in the hospital for a week. This also helped to put me behind in my studies. That's something else new, I am doing an online college going for my Associate Degree in communications. So now I'm 2 weeks behind in my studies, trying to work a full time job, and trying to recover from the bleeding ulcer. It's not been easy. But anyway, due to the new medical bills we will be getting in due to the fact we had no medical insurance at the time are going to kill us, as well as any abilities to go back to MN for the fest. Thanks all though for the well wishes, having your love and support means a great deal to us. I have no idea when or if we'll even be able to join you again for a meet up night. But I hope we can join together some day down the road. Also if your interested, Brandi and I are on the planning committee for the brand new ren fest here in Needles CA. It's called "Kingdom by the River" and will run for one weekend only for the first year. If possible we would love to see you guys come out for the fun. Show these people how to enjoy a renfest. Hey we work at a hotel too so we can probably get you a decent rate on a room LOLOLOL.
First, I'm glad you are better! Gosh John you could have had more dire consequences! Next time listen to Brandi!!! You've been trained better then that ;)
Second, Congratulations on the job!!!! And living in Needles you guys are experiencing nearly the same heat as we do :D
I know that has to be a huge relief for you two.
We will miss you terribly not being able to come to MNRF but with the new job and medical bills its certainly understandable.
The new faire sounds like fun! You'll have to tell us more as that weekend draws nearer. :)
And you will have AZRF this year to come visit again. Same hospitality applies this year. You have your choice of accommodations.
Your healthy comes first so get well, and good luck on the studies. Well we will catch you when we come down for Presidents day weekend.
*Big Hugs*!! We will miss you both!!
xoxoxoxo
:-*
See now, we'll have to come down on President's day weekend if you're not coming up Labor Day. Congrats on the new job, faire, and get better already, man!
That's right DB, now you HAVE to come down, yeeees all part of our master plan MUHAHAHAHAHAHAH. I can honestly say Julianne that we are most definitely having the same heat as you and OMG is it hot. But I would rather have heat than cold. Brandi is missing the greenery though. Her father went and had grass put in his yard because he missed having some kind of greenery, and Brandi put in a lot of work on some gardens in the back yard. But now with us in the new place, the puppies have a LOT more running room, so they are happy. But some days it's even to hot for them and they refuse to go out. Once again though thanks so much for the well wishes and prayers.
As for the new faire, I can tell you the weekend will be November 14th & 15th of this year. It is going to be an interesting fest. Brandi and I are working on the childrens realm as well as the adult entertainment area. We're looking for some adult type acts we can put in there, but with out knowing the budget right now. It's rather difficult, but we've had some interest from some local performers and we are keeping our fingers crossed we can get them in. If it's at all possible for any of you to come down, it would be great to show these people what real festies are all about. To me there seems to be a little to much influence from SCA and other type of groups like them. But we're a workin' on it.
One thing I am WICKED excited about is that we hired Butch Roy to come down and do an Improv for Interactive Performers class. We're talking about seeing if we can get a two weeks class, and if the budget will be able to support it, but we have him booked for at least one weekend so far. I am very excited about that.
Fig
Be careful in that heat, also it's the Peoples Republic of California so watch out there too.
Viscomte
I've noticed it's a bit odd here. I mean, no where else do you have to go through a border check on the interstate but here, I mean WTH is up with that?? They don't do it on any other roads but the interstate, and that makes no sense to me.
Fig
It's Cali, there is no good answer, it's just different.
Viscomte
DB is that for real? Are you two finally going to make it down?
That's wonderful!!!! ;D ;D ;D
Let's just say it's optimistic thinking at this point. ;D
DB
Would be good to have you here for Presidents Day Weekend.

V
Well,
Sad news, the invasion will be short this Frenchman, at least this year. :'(
Just got the news that my biggest client wants me to teach a course, and attend a continuing education seminar in San Francisco that weekend. Seeing as though this guy pays 50% of my bills, I gotta go. The one plus, I do get to take my better half with me on their dime, so it's sorta a vacation.
Viscomte
well that is the suck, hope it goes well, guess we will have to drink twice as much in your honor
Cousin
Thanks, but with today's economy, I had to do the work thing first.
I will not be happy whilst there, but i will be well paid for my efforts and have the evenings to spend with my better half.

V
Most Refreshingly Free!!!!!!!!!!
Well,
I would of thought beer and good times.
V
I would have preferred the taste of mead myself, but what ever floats yer boat.
For me, MNRF tastes like mead (egyptian, mint and strawberry), beer (only from Muffin of course) , those fried cheese things, and cigars.
to MNRF tastes like pretty womens dainty hands :-*

If you have words of wisdom then see my post in mundane topics.
It really doesn't hurt anymore...but I have what appears to be a massive infection.....
Where is my ren dentist?
Oh yeah....let's have a chat about universal "dental" care...shall we?
But that would be another forum.
Probably too volatile to touch on.
I will be in Minnesota happy and pain free but toothless even more.
I hope they still like me.

The affected tooth is out. Had to do bone graft and some other gross stuff.
This Dentist assures me (once again) that he can save my teeth! *insert triumphant music*
So I'll go along....since it isn't hurting too too terribly.
I suppose for the Historically Accurate I would be perfect missing some teeth....I'll need some lice as well though...hmmm? ;) Isn't that a desirable picture!
Anyways, back on track to this thread.....We arrive in 8 days!!!!!! :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

I'll have to check when I get home from work to be sure (ok so I'm an idiot that moves the clock in the wrong direction), but more importantly this is my last night of work and only 4.5hrs to go...can you say complete lack of motivation? ;D <---correction work is done now for some fun

okay Scott and Jess...
The restaurant at the hotel ( I think Scott knew this...not sure) is no longer the Thai restaurant with the great fish.
It's now an East Indian Restaurant..web site is www.chaskaspiceup.com
That restaurant has changed hands every year. (it's a shame the last folks didn't last cause they were the best)
Looks like most nights are going to be up to us to entertain ourselves.
J
Bummer!
You raved over the Thai food from there, i was sad that i did not get to try it this year, or any other year from the looks of it.
I know you guys will find something to do!
V
Minnesota was great yet again, yes we lost the fish fry, but found a great Irish pub with good food and amazing atmosphere to park at the first night there. we miss our friends already. now to hunker down till our faire
Always something new to be found in those charming towns around Faire....as Scott said the Irish pub was great and will be on our agenda next year.
The Faire was wonderful as always! Maybe next year more of you can come as it makes the wait for our faire a little more tolerable.
J
There is a little faire in Texas in Oct-Nov you know.

Sorry Lady Isabella...we have been remiss in posting any pics or links to pics.
I'll work on that.
