33 days and 20 seconds! Anyone else excited? ;D
Maybe that's why I haven't been able to sleep yet. Been trying for the last 12 hours or so... :)
31 days, 23:54 (hh:mm)
Sleep, what's that!? Between drum practice, group practice, various appointments, trying to fit in social time, and drinking time, I really don't get much of that (sleep that is, drinking is a priority!!)

I wish I had things like that to take up my time.. but alas all I have is the day job which I've been having a tough time focusing on to be very productive lately. So I'm lacking sleep and productivity -- must be time for some kind of a change.

likewise. Definitely not what I intend to do for the rest of my life. ;)

I completely agree with you about drinking time Rafe!
29 days, 18:41:40
Tis the only thing that keeps me sane and other's alive.
Amen brother.
I don't know how many of you work at fest, or of those that do how many camp on site... but if you hadn't heard the quarry is seriously encroaching on the fence behind all the games in the north-east corner..
This photo was taken from basically right outside of horse gate pointing toward where the joust camp used to sit..
and this is the road that leads up to safety services, which used to be the middle of the employee parking area:
Long story short, half of the employee parking is a big hole in the ground now.
It occurred to me to post this here because while it's still 29 days until the front gate opens, it significantly sooner that the campground on site opens for all the performers (15 days!)

Word... day jobs suck. I like to say that Fest is what I do in "real life"....
Thanks for posting the pics Indie. Is the road that goes just outside of the fence from First Aide to C-Gate still there? I assume that would be the way down to the campground.
Rafe
I e-mailed Jac about that last week. He says you can still enter from 41, just beware of trucks and equipment if it is before 5 on a weekday. The road to the campground starts roughly 100 feet from the first aid road.
I wonder where we are all supposed to park now, there wasn't enough space before all of this. Gonna be a long trek to C gate for the people who have to sign in there, I am super glad the Jaycees don't have to this year!
Where do Jaycees sign in?
We used to sign in at the costume shack and get day passes at the booth next to it. Now I am told we no longer need to sign in there. I believe we are either doing a radio sign in or sign in behind Foaming. Do you know about the Ale Tenders meeting and pub clean? That's where we will finalize pub assignments and be told all the pertinent info. It is at Foaming, Aug. 15th at noon. There will be a meeting, food and beer. We will also clean all the pubs and do any last minute repairs and such.
Thanks for that info... no, I pretty much haven't received any information. I got the newsletter that said there was training or something on August 8 (?) but I had no idea about anything else. Sigh... thanks for keeping me informed, Sitara!
Hmm... so if we sign in behind Foaming of via radio, do we get passes elsewhere to get on the grounds....?

Hi!
There is a Shakopee Jaycee page on Facebook, I got on that one so I could stay on top of the info.. I don't have access to it from here, but if you go on my page, you should be able to find it pretty easy..
When you enter through B gate you will be able to get a one day paper pass if needed... ;D
Thanks Muffin! I'll look into the Facebook page. I just feel like I'm missing something..!
There is also a message board on www.shakopeejaycess.com (http://www.shakopeejaycees.com) and a Yahoo group called "Ale Tales" It is better to be signed up for those than to rely on the newsletter.

When I was out there last weekend at the shop the petting zoo people said they were going to be parking in the grove now with the Animals or at least that was the last thing that he heard, The grounds looked so Barron last weekend except for the dump trucks and workers rebuilding the food booths by Bad Manor. :(

... Steve and I were on the grounds yesterday.. Lots of activity about with vendors fixing up their shops, etc.. The counter at Foaming looks all nice and shiny!! Must have been refinished!! YAY!!
Being out at fest before the season or after for that matter has a very different feel to it for sure.. A little creepy, but familiar at the same time.. Steve described it as a "ghost town" and that's just what it feels like..

Been missing the heat? you can have 10 of our degrees we seem to have a surplus. Been averaging 113-11 5 for the last couple weeks :P :'( :P
I am very jealous!! Whenever I talk to Mom she lets me know that it is 100+ degrees and she and Dad are going to spend the day in the pool! No Fair!! :P I should be spending the day in the pool! Instead I sit shivering here in the middle of summer.. Boooo!!
Maybe you should move... :)
Personally I've LOVED the mild temps this summer. I don't mind heat, but we never get dry heat here it's always humid and that just sucks.. so bring on the 70 degree highs I say.

What's the Pirate's Code say about knocking off pilots for their wenches?
"Gambling for money was forbidden, as was bringing boys or women on board. The punishment for bringing a woman onboard in disguise, or forcing themselves on a woman, was death."
From: here (http://ageofpirates.com/article.php?Pirate_Code_of_Conduct)

Beware of a Wolfe bearing footwear...
Got the front gable rafters repainted to dress up the street appeal this morning as well as all the furniture repainted. The food booths across from Bad Manner seem to be coming along. It's been so dry there's not much grass on site to start the run off, so it could be a dusty year unless we get regular rain during the run.
Wow, did the storms and rain miss fest site? We had 1" one day and 5" the next night. I saw on the tv news that there were tornados around the metro area. I hope the site got some rain, as well. ( but not lightning hitting trees again or tornados again)
I was there all day Saturday... didn't get much more than drips from the trees while I was there and all the radar images I looked at showed storms only to the north. But it certainly rained there on Friday, things were quite damp in the morning.
Yeah, I saw one branch was down from a tree, but no storm damage to speak of. The booths across from Bad Manor are coming along, but they still need to fill the trench for the new water drain pipe that runs west from the new booths and then across the road to a collection tank below Tree Top stage.

That is correct! Although the interesting part is that Gypsy stage is current being redone as well. Not a complete rebuild, but the vardo that is part of the stage is currently in the middle of the street and the base of the stage is sitting in the seating area. Looks like they are resurfacing the stage. The Vardo . . .? Who knows, but it definately needs some work.

Ok, so for volunteers we have Muffin...I, of course will be there...So I will get her started by purchasing the beer and coaxing her to begin drinking...after an hour Muffin you come in and continue to encourage her to at least get it down to the half way mark...so we just need another volunteer to spend the next 45 minutes or so getting her close to the bottom, that's when I will come in with a new beer forcing her to finish the first before and we start the whole process over...if we start early enough, we may just achieve a record breaking third beer!! ;D

I am SO gonna get my butt kicked if I keep this up!

With everyone working, who's a girl to drink beer with?? :'(
Ok, so for volunteers we have Muffin...I, of course will be there...So I will get her started by purchasing the beer and coaxing her to begin drinking...after an hour Muffin you come in and continue to encourage her to at least get it down to the half way mark...so we just need another volunteer to spend the next 45 minutes or so getting her close to the bottom, that's when I will come in with a new beer forcing her to finish the first before and we start the whole process over...if we start early enough, we may just achieve a record breaking third beer!! ;D
3 whole beers?!! :o No Way!! I'll have to see that to believe it!! :D :-*
Can't wait! Can't wait! I'm as excited as SockMonkeyCowLady! :-)
Hey MG...are you working with Nyte and crew at Heart and Sole? See you all in 10 days! *bounce* *bounce* (Oh...and if anyone is being naughty send them over to the stocks so we can punish them appropriately! :-)
Lady Lilly, it's going to be Nyte, myself, MG, and a non-forum member named Kara working at Heart & Sole.
Nyte is in charge of herding the cats, and I'm bringing the nip. ;D

Who all will be on site this Saturday?
We're having an "All Cast" rehearsal on Saturday. I'm required to be there - in costume.
I will be out to work on the booth with Kevin, and the Scotch and Guinness to.
We'll be out Saturday too bringing out some of the display signs and doing a few things around the booth. Just finished getting a second coat of paint on the stools and benches yesterday.
YAY!!! Lots of peoples for pre-festing fun!! ;D ;D ;D

Oh... You... Guys!!! :P
One day I'll so show you all and have 3 beers and a mead. Maybe...
Well with me hawking and Muffin, Syn and Toar pouring you will have a hard time getting past Foaming without a beer. ;D
With everyone out there maybe we can meet at Chateau de Muffin after everyone is finished. For some adult byob beverages...
Notice how they won't let the pirate pour? Just sayin'... ;)

Probably because he'd always be telling the customers that the tap was broke so he could go in back and "fix" it... :D
9 days 7 hours! ;D
We (the fiance and myself) will be there tonight, Saturday, and quite possibly sunday.
:P
I also volunteer my services as a foaming beverage taster (we cannot allow the foaming stein to serve bad beverage with the quality staff there now can we?) Will also be out there this weekend helping Tarac Fri and Sat at least.

One more thing done. The new decoration for the front gable of ou booth. They're based on the 16th century French playing cards that we sell.

Muffin and I shall ensure that Foaming has the highest quality beer available by taste testing it before cannon. We shall endevor to ensure that the quality does not decrease throughout the day by repeated sampling. Any time the quality of our beer is questioned...more tests will be conducted. I also plan on keeping an eye on the mead booth and helping them with quality control. I do this for you...not me...I would NEVER drink alcohol if not out of concern for your well being.

With a child harness of coarse!!! Cause it's the humane thing to do!!! And everyonce in a while let it drink from a puddle and throw it scraps & bones from your turkey leg.
Countdown is only 2 hours for me (2.5 with drive time) then I am onsite and working...sigh, and painting the rest of the office, and hanging curtains and watching for miscreants....I need 8 of me.
Oh hey, the boyfriend (Todd) will be onsite tomorrow in costume and sadly I need to sleep at some point. I will probably be leaving him in your capable hands and hoping he is the same when I get him back.
(he hasn't had a lot of time to meet people since he moved up here for Georgia...uh 5 years ago so he'll be all by his lonesome....be nice please!)
On our way out. Gotta leave early to hit JoAnns, then set up camp! See yall in the morn!!!

It's a good thing I have so much garb because none of my new stuff will be ready for tomorrow! So much left to do even without sewing! EEEEEEE! :o
Wanted to say have a great opening day!
Wishing I was there....cool winds and faire skies to you all!
~~your adopted wench
Product is mostly all in the booth, although we had to hand carry it all since they wouldn't let us drive on site. Have to transfer the closet from it's traveling box to the festival cabinet, pick up the sales help who is sleeping over tonight, and figure out what the heck to wear tomorrow.
