Last I heard we (meaning anybody staying in the campground) are supposed to hold off on building platforms until further notice from Jac as things might be changing...

#1 - If you are planning on building or rebuilding a platform, please wait with buying materials. There may be some new regulations coming down the pike. I will let you know as soon as I find out.
#2 - To all of you who have sent in your applications and taken care of your fees, thank you. You make this job much easier.
To those of you who haven't, you will not be allowed to set up until you show me a completed application, and written proof that your fees are paid or otherwise taken care of.

We were just out on the grounds yesterday and there were a few people in the camp grounds building away...
This thread is SOOO not what I was expecting. :o:-\ LOL
Thought you were talking about golf clubs. ;) :D
Posting on MRFFriends from Campground Director @ Fest:

No updates after that. Might be worth contacting him first. And this is not his call. Scott County's call.

Y'all are camping this year? Fun! I myself don't care for camping, but nonetheless the idea of camping at Fest has a certain charm.
Camping isn't really my thing either, :P but back and forth to Coon Rapids every weekend is just a bit much.. ;)
So here's the deal kids.. Steve spoke with Jac this morning..
The rules and regulations.......
If you plan to leave your platform in the campground after the season is over it can be no larger than 10 x 12.
It can be 15 x 15 if you break it down and take it with you at the end of the season..
So there you go..

Yeah, I feel ya... St Paul is far enough but Coon Rapids is even worse!
Speaking of wood....
If anyone has any general crap wood that they want to get rid of please please please call me and maybe bring it to fest with you? And let Safety Services have it to burn so I can stay warm enough to yell at miscreants all season long.
Pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeease???

I have lots of branches left over from some tree removal this year. The largest is about an inch and a half in diameter. You're welcome to the whole lot but I'm not schlepping it.

I could bring out some old shipping pallets from work this weekend. I will be assisting working on a booth there on Saturday. Let me know I'll see what I can do for you folks, we don't want anybody catching a cold.
pallets burn good & hot... I've stripped paint off a house burning pallets before. :)
we might have some stuff in the garage i will post once i take a look. You guys aren't too far away from us now.
Thanks Sleepy!!!
Last night we tore apart part of a deck.. Still looking for more wood though!
how scroungy do you want to get? I have an old armoire that I took apart. lots of particleboard and psuedo-cherry veneer.

If they're building a Camping/Tenting area platform, the particle board probably won't hold up to outdoor weather.

Thanks Escher!! Not sure if that kind of wood will work, but I really appreciate the offer!!!! :-*
Hey Ness! In my search on Craiglist for "free lumber/wood" I have come across tons of posts for free firewood!! ;D
Hey Muffin... I know you're looking for "free wood"... (not gonna say it...)
IF you go to some of the bigger hardware stores that have a lumber yard... not sure about Home Depot or Lowes, ets...
You can usually get "Culled" lumber cheap... It might not be the straightest of wood... but useable
Just a thought

Hee hee! :D Yeah I know.. everytime I type it in, I giggle..
Good idea!!! We'll have to check that out!!
@ Escherblacksmith - I will take the wood you were offering to Muffin. We burn everything.
@ Missbubu - I can maybe pick it up next Friday (the 14th). Do you think it will all fit in my Kia?
@ Lord Morpheus-or-something-like-that - That would be awesome, please place it in the safety service backyard in the corner by the table that I think is still there. Just tuck it all somewhere out of the way. Thanks!!!!!!
@ Lord Fondlebottom - was that directed at me or Muffin?

You might want to bring a saw with you to chop it into manageable pieces. I took down a couple of maples this year, and the neighbor that helped got the logs, but left the branches. I haven't done a thing with them except look at the rather large pile and try to figure out what to do with it.
Hey Bacardi and Muffin! Cool that you're camping!!
I don't have resources for wood, but in platform design, eyelets that you can use carribeaners to stake your tent with is something people have told me is a great idea! Also, those puzzle piece mats make awesome insulated tent flooring!
Hope you find some wood! The best suggestion I have is craigslist, which it looks like you've been looking over. There's people who I'm sure are looking to get rid of lumber sort of cheaply!
@Nessa-was looking for firewood on craigslist, found that there are tons of free firewood! There's a lot of housing projects going on in the Chaska area, maybe someone would want to dump off some pallets for you guys just to get rid of them!
Good luck! Each time I see this title, I think of the tree stump mugs!

Maybe I will just "borrow" someone's truck and get them that way. Stealing a vehicle is WAY easier than stealing a saw. We have stuff on site to break em up but I just don't want to work that hard.

Send me a PM
let me know when you want it (I am in the Midway area). I won't be on site until Labor Day, but I could probably bring some of it then . . .
@escherblacksmith - sounds perfect!!! Having some later in the run is better so we don't all burn it at once.
Hey Ness! We should have some left over odds and ends that we won't use for the platform! (should be done with that after next weekend I think) We'll bring it out to fest for you.. ;D :-*
for those still needing . . .
4' x 8' 1/2" waferboard (midway - st. paul) (http://minneapolis.craigslist.org/ram/zip/1319353363.html)
If I had a need, I'd get it myself . . . (posted 8/12/09)
