Hey now.... Everyone know It doesn't RAIN in Hollygrove.
Those are SPECIAL EFFECTS! ;D
Pretty realistic, huh? :D
They've almost finished mixing the mud. It should be delivered soon. ;)
Realistic indeed!!!! And it does look as though they must be busy making alot of mud......here is this weekends forecast.....although it may be a bit premature to even mention, since it will change.
Friday-68 and a 40% chance of showers
Saturday-72 and a 40% chance of showers
Sunday-64 and partly cloudy
Hmmmm sounds like fine scottish weather to me.
How I love Scottish weather!
Reminds me of the very first time I set foot at MIRF. Love at first sight, or should I say smell? Yes. soggy wood chips and incense and all. ;D
And change it did...and probaly will again before tomarrow. But here is the current forecast for this weekend.
Fri - T-storms with a high of 67deg
Sat - AM couds PM sun and a high of 65
Sun - Partly cloudy with a high of 62
Kinda sounds perfect to me!!!
I love the heading "Weather update (subject to change in 5 minutes or sooner/later)" this couldn't more accurate.
Scottish weather for the Highland games.... sound perfect to me! ;D
This year's weather sure has been kooky. When was the last time you can remember a high temp in August on a sunny or partly cloudy day of only 62 degrees? It feels more like October than August! This is the longest spring I can ever remember.
Summer? Hello?!? You out there?
As someone who is allergic to the sun I am loving this weather! I was worried I wasn't going to be able to go to faire this year.
I too love the cloudy, dry, cool not cold, yet calm breezy weather, but that rain has got to go. This Saturday's weather and the whole weekend for that matter seems to be conducive to some great tiem at fest/faire.
Here is what weather.com is predicting for the holiday weekend. ;D
Fri 77°
Sep 4 53°
Sunny 0%
Sat 77°
Sept 5 54°
Sunny 10%
Sun 77°
Sept 6 56°
Partly Cloudy 10%

Sounds wonderful!!!!
It's gonna be a great holiday weekend.

shhhhh indeeed. And hopefully the rain in the forecast for this weekend will pass us by.
rain rain go away come again another day ...like after the weekend or before
Yes most definitely go away, rain. At least for Saturday..... pleeeeeeeeaaasssssssssssse.
If anythin we have 4 days, and I think it will surely change.
"Showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm before noon, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after noon. Cloudy, with a high near 71. East wind 6 to 8 mph becoming south southwest. Chance of precipitation is 60%."
I really do not like this forecast for Saturday. >:(
lol..i know.. i was just looking at it. well i guess i am not wearing the armour on saturday.. or the camera for that matter.. i will use the old one so if it gets broke again i wont care
As long as it's not super heavy downpour of cats, dogs )and last year that one day I think there were horses in that mix)...I'm happy with the rain. Kinda looking forward to breaking out some comfy, warm, don't care if it get's all wet, garb.
here's the forecasts according to weather.com as of 2:10pm Friday 9/25/09
Saturday 9/26/09: A few showers early with overcast skies later in the day. High 67F. Winds SSE at 5 to 10 mph. Chance of rain 30%.
Sunday 9/27/09: More sun than clouds. Highs in the low 70s and lows in the low 50s.
Sounds more promising than what the National Weather Service (NOAA) is predicting! I do not relish mud like last year.
cool.. might end up nicer then expected.. but i had some cool pics last mud day there. lol.

One of the very few I took during last year's "Mud Day Huzzah".
Didn't think me boots would ever be the same 'gain.
I think we are going to wait until Sunday to go this week. Hopefully we'll see you guys there. It looks like Saturday will be agrape harvest time (between the showers and storms). That and my wife is making another new outfit. ;)
Jon.

Wow....have heard all the stories (we're pretty much annual visitors and have lots of friends in Holly, including much of the court)...but I have to say I don't think I really understood until seeing this! Ankle deep as far as the eye (or lenses) can see!
The weather started out a bit threatening this morning but it turned out to be a fantastic day at the faire. But, it looks like we are in for a bit of a ride tonight/this morning. The radar is looking mighty threatening right now.
Jon.
Can I just say that for this little Floridian, it's frikkin' cold. Hopefully the rain will stay away for our final weekend. But nonetheless, you will see a bundled up queen.
It is freaking cold to this Michiganer! I had to turn on the furnace last night..buurrrrr :(
They are saying 60% rain Saturday and 30% on Sunday, always subject to change and yes temperature in the low 60's. Maybe we'll follow the Queen back to Florida.

Our furnace is still off but they are calling for a frost on Thursday. I guess I'll be picking up furnace filters in the morning!
Jon.
Went last weekend was 60% chance of rain and it did rain, but only in drizzle form and a few light showers, then the rest of the day was just overcast. Hopin if we have to have rain this weekend will be the same. And yes, it's gettin too cold. I had to wear my jacket, then raincoast over that jacket to keep warm yesterday. That wind is brutal.

We will not fear the cold as we bask in the warmth of your benevolent rule!
Your Majesty, I must say. I've seen you this season riding upon the horse in the parade, and it adds a most regal flair to your persona. I remember as a child watching the kings and queens of old ride up and down the same streets of our beloved shire, and looking at awe of their power and wealth and so to this day I feel the same way, as I would think many others do to. Huzzah! to the faire for allowing you to ride a horse.
Can you have a talk with God again Madge Estes? As Saturday is my wife's natal day, rain will just not do!
Not to mention as it's the last weekend of faire, rain should not be allowed in the equation. I say we all ask for at least a taste of July/August this weekend, since June went right to the longest September I can remember.
I think we should all say whatever prayers are appropriate that our final weekend is a nice one. A day like today would be welcome, even if it is a bit chilly.
Last night was ridiculous! And waking up to frost this morning. Made me want to stay in bed snuggled with my dogs.
I totally agree! They weather today would be a perfect day. Maybe a bit chilly, but stand in the sun for a few and you'll warm.
The frost as I left work last night ( bartender ) was shocking! The look on my face was like a puppy hearing a strange noise for the first time. Head cocked, eyebrows furrowed... ( what IS this stuff ?! ) You'd think I wasn't raised in Michigan.
I don't want to turn on my heat yet!
I'll..ll..ll... b-b-be f-fine.
40% chance of rain on Saturday and only a 20% chance on Sunday now, still low 60's both days.

We harvested grapes for two days this week to beat the frost... We turned the furnace on last night too. Which was fine, but in the middle of the night I heard it actually start up. Ugh. :(
Jon.
Yeah, I work in a shop and it was more preferrable to work outside in the sun rather than in the shade of the shop. Go figure. I hope I gets sunny real soon.
That frost was nasty! Don't remember one that severe hitting so early. Took care of the bean and pepper plants. I do have to say though, that picking a fresh ripe pear with a little frost on it and sinking one's teeth into is is quite tasty. Thankfully the apples and pears are sturdy enough to endure these cold nights.
I think the rain that was predicted for Saturday has come early.
Hopefully the system will get on with it today and be gone by tomorrow so we can have a dry (albeit chilly) faire weekend. *crossing fingers*
I like the way you're thinking Katie, let's all join in on that idea, the power of positive thinking.... ;D
the last week end is here all ready! Sad :'( I was realy hopping to get back down there for another weekend. If someone would have a beer for me, please. Just tiring to save my pennies for a trip to MMRF hope to see you there! :D
Now it's 50% Saturday and 30% Sunday. It probably won't rain at all.
I'll just dress to keep warm and not let a little rain and mud spoil my fun!

That was a nice hat you had on towards the end of the day. Vince makes some killer sheepskin hats!
Jon.
Saturday was the worst of the days, I had to work Sunday, so no go, but I could tell the rain was lighter and less frequent, and the wind was lighter, so the weekend did get better. But, my inal day at faire this year was still good if not chilly, and the sun did shine a few times while I was tastin some wine and mead, and finally caught the Robin Hood show, so a good day all in all. Hope evryone had a good faire season, and if not there's always next year.
Obviously you weren't at fair on Sunday, as the weather was much worse than Saturday (we were there both days). Saturday was cooler overall, but the rains that came through on Sunday were much stronger, a couple of people even reported small hail back in area 51, :o.
At around 2:45 we had to take cover in the castle for a few minutes. That was probably when the reports of hail came in. That was the heaviest rain of the day.
Jon.
Wow, no hail here in the south, it was a fairly cool day, with rain off and on. I was hoping all of you had the same weather or better. Well, next year should be.
Hail, yes! (derned Vulgarians!) We were in knighting ceremony when I heard Norfolk say "The rain is bouncing!" Next thing I knew Raliegh had drawn his cape over my head as a shield. Fortunately it didn't last long.

His cape over your head or the rain :)
I had my umberella in hand at the pub sing for you Madge Estes just in case it started raining again. I know it wouldn't have been "period correct", but I wasn't going to allow you to get wet.
LOL. The hail. He kept his cloak over my head til it subsided.
And thank you, Lord Virgil. That was very sweet!
I would think umbrella were period. It is the renaissance. They were quite more advanced than what we give them credit for. Your highness, tis a good thing you weren't injured by the hail. What would our faire be like without you Madge as our Queen Elizabeth? It'd be nothing, that's what. Good acting this year, and evry year. When I attend I really do feel I'm in the presence of a highly powerful queen, though tis just an act. The portrayal is stunning.
Thank you. I love my job, and more so I love all you good folks in Hollygrove!
