Title: iphone apps
Post by: Auryn on August 24, 2009, 08:23:29 AM
So last week I managed to lose my blackberry curve- left it on a delta flight- genious I know.

I got a new phone and I ended up getting an iphone cause it cost the same as replacing the blackberry. I'm still not used to it and still not totally in love with it- drives me crazy that I cant send sms messages.

I was wondering if anyone knows of any trusted free iphone apps that they enjoy that they would like to pass along??
Any rennie apps??

I figured I would ask people I trust before searching the net.
thanks

welcome to the dark side...

I would suggest the following

mywireless - the AT&T (check mins,txts,paybills,etc..)
remote - lets you control itunes on your computer wirelessly
TWC - The Weather Channel (much better than the built in weather app)
All the Social networking sites have apps (facebook, myspace, aim, twitter, craigslist) if you use those
Midomi - Ever hear a song on the radio and not know who sings it/album/name of the song...Midomi will listen to it for 10 seconds and tell you all that
Pandora - radio
Drinks Free - Bartenders Bible
PhoneFlicks - lets you access your netflix account from your phone

Ive also like Guitarchords and iGCT(geocaching) apps.

I think that's all my free apps but you can always go to the app store on your phone and click top 25 then switch it to the free section.

What do you mean you can't send sms messages? I'm pretty sure my mom uses her iphone to text her boyfriend all the time. At least, I assumed that was what she was doing and not an app they were using?

Sir Sebastian, thank you for the warm welcome to the dark side  ;D
thank you for the list also, especially for the  geo app, thats my boyfriend and I's newest hobby.

Unfortunately it seems Midori is no longer free. Its like $5. Does it actually work as advertised??

analise, it sends text messages but it wont send mms messages. Meaning I can't send pictures via text message.
Apparently that is an AT&T issue and they claim that at the end of the summer it will be available.

Shazam is the Midomi alternative I believe. It's not as acurate but basically does the same thing. Midomi works exactly as it is advertised...Out of the 50 or so songs Ive tried to get it to recognize 3 or 4 have failed. That may have been my fault as well adding too much background noise by the windows being down or something.

I forgot about Fandango...Movie tickets online
