So I watch alot of movies when I'm working, I am a avid watcher of the strange and unusual movies. I thought I'd list some to see if anyone else has watched them or liked them or would like to add thier favorites.
"Repo the Genetic Opera" Somewhat gory, good story line, good songs! it's a musical think Rocky Horror for this century.
"The City of Ember" it got really bad reviews but over all it was a good watch, it feels like there are parts missing but I enjoyed it. Movie about a under ground city where people where placed to save them and after 200 years they could come back to the surface, of course some problems along the way. Tim Robbins and Bill Murry (sp) are in it.
"Mutant Chronicles" now Ron Perlman is in it so I had to watch it...it was hard to follow but lots of action, hubby liked it futuristic world failing movie.
I could list alot more maybe later after you all post a few :)
Mutant Chronicles is based in a game system I used to play. Been wanting to see the movie but I haven't found it around here yet. \
Heard the same about Repo despite the presence of Paris Hilton, if I recall right.
Hadn't really looked int o City of Ember.
Since you mention movies, I'd like to take this moment to inform you that "Boondock Saints II: All Saint's Day" is coming out this Halloween. If you haven't seen the first one, now's the time to pick it up. $13 bucks at Wally world. Just picked up the fancy covered version today myself. Vigilante justice and comedy. Same actors too. Norman Reedus, Sean Patrick Flanery, and Billy Connelly.
"The Dark Backward"
"The Man With Two Brains"
really liked "The Cube"

The strangest movie I have ever seen in my entire life was "Liquid Sky" back in the eighties (at the Uptown theatre). To this day I do not know if I love it or hate it. It makes Rocky Horror look like a Daffy Duck cartoon... :o

I love City of Ember. Complex buildup to the end, with an open ending for possible sequel.
A deep dark movie is "The Keep". It's available on YouTube, but no where else that I can find. Germans taking over an ancient fort and finding more than they expected.
Also "The People" from Zenna Henderson. I took 6 months to track down a copy of this movie. William Shatner in 1972 in a non-Star Trek movie was odd.
Spent several Friday evenings attending "Rocky Horror Picture Show" showings at the local theater. Damn it Janet!.
Pi is a strange one, but its good. Donnie Darko another weird one, and I also liked Dark City.

In a weird twist, I actually consider this as a bit of a ren faire movie. Adam Smith, who did a lot of the leather stuff (the Repo Man mask, the tool kits, the restraints, other bits and bobs) is actually a vendor at several of the southern Ontario faires.

"REpo the Genetic Opera" is one of those movies I watch 2-3's a week. I love the movie. If you have never seen it Rent it you all will be suprised.
Matango is a very strange Japanese movie if you've only seen the Americanized version you don't know how strange it is.
here is another one I watch often "The Company of Wolves" very visual love the story's but the thing just doesn't tie well with the start and ending. Over all though it is a great story
Just watched "Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy" last night... again... Talk about weird!!! LOL Douglas Adams is about as weird as it gets...
Quote from: Grov on September 06, 2009, 03:48:56 PMHeard the same about Repo despite the presence of Paris Hilton, if I recall right.
I was hesitant about the movie when I first saw that Paris Hilton was in it, but after watching it, I realized that the character she portrayed was a super-spoiled rich skank who was addicted to plastic surgery and drugs, and couldn't carry a tune in a bucket.
It's like they lifted Hilton's life and put it into the script, so she was perfect for the role.
One of the funniest off beat movies I have see is "Amazon Women on the Moon". It is a series of shorts that parody late night television on an independent station. I almost feel out of my chair during the opening with Arsenio Hall.
If you like strange, try Strangeland... written & directed by Dee Snider. Yes, Dee Snider of Twisted Sister. Robert Englund is in it also.

:) That's why they cast her in the part!! you should listen to the comments about how Paris threw a fit because her messed up surgery makeup made her too ugly...she didn't want to come out of the makeup trailer.

"Cannibal the Musical"- from the makers of South Park
"Cannibal women of the Avacado Jungle"- cheesy B movie

"May"- horror movie, the entire time I was watching I was asking myself 'why am I watching this'
kinda main stream "Shaolin Soccer"- cheesy but it makes me happy
"Legend of 1900"- its not really that weird perse but no one has heard of it and it is amazing, it stars Tim Roth
"Flakes"- indie type flick with Zoey Deschanel set in a cereal store/diner
Check out the Cult of UHF podcast for lots of old B movies

OK, apparently I'm very susceptible to suggestion because I bought this movie-available on VHS only. ::) Haven't had a chance to watch it yet.
I can't believe that no one has mentioned " Naked Lunch " yet... :o ;D

Heard a rumor there might be something tongue in cheek that may be in the works with Bruce Campbell
Finally picked up Repo and watched it. Weird but couldn't hold me. Too polished I guess. I'm a Rocky fan from years back.

The sequel will be a prequel "BUBBA-NOSFERATU" with Ron Perlman as Elvis

Are "IDENTITY" and "MEMENTO" and "RAVENOUS" too mainstream to be considered properly weird?!?
I have to agree with Fraser...Strangeland by Dee Snider...STRANGE....But I loved it...lol
"Naked Lunch" (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Naked_Lunch_%28film%29). Saw that when I was fairly young. Almost broke me...still one of the strangest movies that I can think of after all these years.

I absolutely love this movie, and I'm not sure why. everyone who I make watch this thinks I'm beyond crazy for liking it.
Wow - nobody's mentioned "Eraserhead" yet, eh?

I, too, love this movie and the music from the soundtrack is incredible! The scene where they are "riding the piano" during the storm while 1900 plays is one my all-time favorites. I don't have the movie but I do own the soundtrack and this is one of the weird ones that I recommend to everybody!
