Just in case my fellow pirates hadn't caught my announcement in Queen Bonnie's Realm, I am pleased to cross post the following:
By Decree of Good Queen Bonnie of the Kingdom of Glen Livet, the Royal Order of Landsharks is now open for membership. We are privateers who have looked at 40, are happiest at sea and dangerous on land, and who call Sir Jimmy of Buffett our most well-beloved minstrel. Younglings will be known as "Guppies" until such a time as they reach majority - at 40, of course.
Please PM me with your persona name, age, and e-mail address if you are interested in joining the ranks of the Royal Order of Landsharks. If you will send your name & snail mail address at the same time, I will be working on a badge in the near future.

Fins up!
At a moment like this, I can't help but wonder,
what would Jimmy Buffett do?? ???
He'd say:
Pour me something tall and strong.
Make it a hurricane, before I go insane.
It's only half past twelve, but I don't care.
It's five o'clock somewhere. ;D ;D ;D
Ah, Blackjack, will have to admit to typing under the influence of mango margaritas this afternoon - but was too lazy to haul the Frozen Concoction Maker off the fridge, so ... on the rocks! It is five o'clock somewhere, after all!
Taffy,
I just sent my PM to you. Didn't get the part about the snail mail, I will get that to you as well.
I be pretty sure I sent mine in....but I was sitting there typing me vitals to Taffy.....
.......And that's when I first saw the bear
He was a Kodiak lookin' fella `bout nineteen feet tall
He rambled up over the hill
expectin' me to do one of two things,
Flip or fly, I didn't do either one
It hung him up!
;D ;D ;D ;D
Sweet looks like I am Landshark #28!
Can't you feel 'em circlin' honey?
Can't you feel 'em swimmin' around?
You got fins to the left, fins to the right,
and you're the only bait in town.
~~Landshark #24
Fins UP, Landsharks!
Black Anne Roberts, at you service,Capt!
I be Guppy # 32!
I'm Landshark #34. Yea ! So where are the margarita's ? ;D ::) ;)
Mine has been sent and I do hope you will accept me...
Well the sunrise'll bring on the
sleep that's escaped us and
ev'ryone's off to their bed.
There'll be huggin' and sqeezin',
a little pleasin' and teasin'
and rubbin' of each others' head.
So won't you dream on comrades;
seems nothing affects you,
nothing, no reason nor rhyme.
That's cause ev'ryone here is just more than
contented to be living and dying in three quarter time. - JB Nautical Wheelers

Had to buy new margarita "fixens" today. For some reason I'm stuck on mango margaritas - not as acidy, maybe. Fins UP!
You know what to do: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tNrM7DnYz4Y
OK a funny Buffett story-
My cousin Karen lives in Baton Rouge and is a parrothead too. She introduced her daughter Amanda (the same girl who fell off her platforms and broke her ankles, ya gotta love her!) to St Buffett's music.
Well, Karen told me at the concert that someone superglued some inflatable dolls together and let them go off during 'Why don't we get drunk...'
Buffett laughed so hard he had to sit down.
Karen just shook her head and said, "I TOLD Amanda not to do it!"
FINS UP!
WelshWench, this is a great mental picture - I can just see Jimmy sitting on the stage, wiping his eyes & everyone just enjoying the sheer joy of the moment.
Okay, Guppies, some of you may not be familiar w/this little piece of audio invitation, so here is a much younger Jimmy setting a scene: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9wFpvRMIIEM
For the rest of us - been there, done that, left the t-shirt. Fins UP!
That song always reminds me of St. Buffet's lead in about mixing Grapefruit juice and gin. And the girls saying how much they liked the combination.
Girl: "You can hardly taste the alcohol."
St. Buffet: "That's the plan, Baby!" :o ;) :D
Grapefruit
Bathing suit
Chew a little Juicy Fruit
Wash away the night.
Drive-in
Guzzle gin
Commit a little mortal sin
It's good for the soul.
Fins Up!
Mix 1 oz tequila, 1 oz blue curacao, and oh, about 3 oz of grapefruit juice, shake w/ice, strain over fresh ice in a 'tini glass. Not only can you hardly taste the liquor, but it's purty, too. Cause - you know - girls like that sort of thing. Fins up!
And what we don't drink, we're gonna pour on ya. :o :D
Belly shots, anyone??? ;)

Actually this reminds me of the first time I had Margarita's..I was with my husband ( fiance at that time )oh man..that was a night..lets just say a couple margarita's and true authentic very hot mexican food , with very hot green chillies ,do not make for a good night sleep !
Woo hoo!
*downs shots with Amy*
On June 3, Wal-Mart & Sam's Club will have a new DVD of 13 of Jimmy's finest live performances of the 13 songs from Songs You Know By Heart, & Hey, Good Lookin' & It's Five O'Clock Somewhere. I feel a pilgramage to Wally World coming on.
Even undercover, MadJack is identifiable as a pirate:
I believe he's spotted his prize!
Now this is what I call a picture - that's MadJack, alright! Thanks for sharing - I've been eyeing this light on eBay, but yikes!
Happy news! I made the badges this morning for everybody listed above, then made a visit to Office Depot, but haven't found a satisfactory - & inexpensive - way to mail them. I'll keep looking.
The badges are:
A. shark fin shaped - for Landsharks;
B. abalone shell colored - for the sea; no two will be exactly the same; and
C. guitar picks - for St. Jimmy - w/pin backs - the post & butterfly clamp style.
Please feel free to embellish away - picture, please!
Now, for the ladies, I've been collecting LandShark Lager bottle caps. I can easily add wires to them for earrings, so let me know if you'd like a pair & if you'd like a hole punched in the bottom so you can add a bead or charm. I can go into earring production next weekend, so let me know.
I'm going to try to get everything out by the end of the month. Thanks for your patience & Fins UP!

lol...My first time with 'Rita's was is Austin TX on a business trip. My friends took us all out to a TX style BBQ and feed us Brisket, Chruriso's, and other spicey authentic MX food. That combined with that really cool lime slush drink made for an interesting night. I heard there are pictures of me practicing my bellydancing(in a business skirt suit) and falling UP the steps into the bus they rented.
I'm not even going to talk about the first Ette invasion with the tequila shots.....
but I wore whipped cream well, or so I heard! :o :-[
I hates ta incriminate meself, but me own first time with Margarita's let me know that St. Jimmy wasn't exaggerating in "God's Own Drunk"! :o

It was like, like I was in love.

I see I'm not the only one to have seen the Landshark Beer, I spotted it today at my local grocery store and thought of you guys.

I tend act out the lyrcis to the song Tequila Makes her cloths fall off
She said I'm going out with my girlfriends
Margaritas at the Holiday Inn
Oh have mercy my only thought
Was tequila makes her clothes fall off
I told her put an extra layer on
I know what happens when she drinks Patron
Her closets missing half the things she bought
Yeah tequila makes her clothes fall off
She'll start by kicking out of her shoes
Lose an earring in her drink
Leave her jacket in the bathroom stall
Drop a contact down the sink
Them panty hose ain't gonna last too long
If the DJ puts Bon Jovi on
She might come home in a tablecloth
Yeah tequila makes her clothes fall off
She can handle any champagne brunch
A bridal shower with Bacardi punch
Jello shooters full of Smirnoff
But tequila makes her clothes fall off
She'll start by kicking out of her shoes
Lose an earring in her drink
Leave her jacket in the bathroom stall
Drop a contact down the sink
She don't mean nothin'
She's just havin' fun
Tomorrow she' ll say oh what have I done
Her friends will joke about the stuff she lost
Yeah tequila makes her clothes fall off
Oh tequila makes her clothes fall off
Oh tequila makes her clothes fall off

Papa G, you are most welcome to the revelry! This batch of favors are finished, so will start buying up padded envelopes next week for mailing, but thanks for the offer. As far as the beer, check w/your local Anheuser Busch distributor to see if & where they sell it in your neck of the woods.
However, me vampyr huntress might be in need of a fancy chainmail choker (a high collar like necklace) for protection against her enemies. PM me w/your charge. Keeping in mind I have a fat neck, among other things.
Lord Figaro, you are most welcome to the ROoL!
Phoenix, thanks for the pic & for thinking of the Landsharks!
I LOVE the tequila/clothes song! Will be making a trip to iTunes when I get home from work.
Thanks to everyone bringing their fun side to the party! Anyone going to TRF? When?
Taffy, Check out my site GnomeLinks.etsy.com if you see one of the chokers you like let me know, if not give me an idea of what you are looking for and I will see what I can do :)
So last night, LD & I went down to the Obama Rally in St. Paul but thats not really my story here its just the back ground on how I got there and no we did not get in.
Anyways a bar across the street from the Xcel Center had a neon Landshark sign. I took a pic but my camera phone sucks.
I have to buy a case of LS for the Pirate Festival next weekend. :D
Thanks to Dragongirl, I have a new - for me - party tune on my iPod & iTunes is a buck richer.
In honor of the upcoming weekend and the fact that it's five o'clock somewhere, I'm asking for your favorite party tunes in this format: A. a song by our hallowed minstrel, followed by (B) the tune that gets you moving.j Let me start this out with:
J: Why don't we get drunk & s***w?; and Prop me up beside the jukebox by Joe Diffie. Fins UP!
A. 'Fins'--fins to the left, fins to the right..and you're the only bait in town!
B. 'Urgent' by Foreigner--everyone who knows me understands!
A. The Wino & I Know
B. Girls,Girls,Girls - Motley Crue
A. I'm looking for a smart woman in a real short skirt
Smart woman who knows how to flirt
Smart woman got a mind of her own
Smart woman that'll take me home
Take me home
B. "Legs" - ZZ Top
Seems to be a theme here... ;)
A. It's a tie between " Brown Eye Girl " and " Five O'clock somewhere "
B. I love 80's music. Journey, REO speedwagon. " Don't stop Believin " " Take it on the Run" " oh and the Eagles .
But i am a country girl at heart ! i have to to pick one song that gets me going and puts me in a good mood it would be , well i can't just pick one... So it is between Lonestar's " I'm already there " cause it has special meaning for me and my hubby, Lonestar;s " Amazed " cause it also has special meaning or Lonestar's " You walked in " just because i am tall, and have long legs...and well um...i have been known to have acute um...wiggle ;D ;) plus it is a fun song to dance too and shake your um...well you know and also Brooks and Dunn's " Rock my world little country girl ".
Everybody's talkin' 'bout the supermodel world
Cindy, Naomi and that whole bunch of girls
Redheads, brunettes and blondes with blue eyes
They come in every shape yea they come in every size
You know I love everything they do
I check 'em out on every Pay-Per-View
Oh, but honey that was way before I met you
And then
(Chorus)
You walked in with legs up to your neck
You walked in I'm a physical wreck
You walked in I've lost my cool babe
But what'd you expect
When you walk in baby love begins
When you walk by baby ooh my my
When you come around, my jaw hits the ground
When you shake your thing I jump outta my skin
When you cross the floor I scream "more baby more"
When you flash your smile you drive me wild
Yea, yea, yea, yea, yea
Everybody's checkin' out the glossy magazines
Madonna, Diana, you know the whole scene
The covergirls, the centerfolds and every movie star
And all those pretty ladies down there at the local bar
I couldn't think of nothin' better to do
Than checkin' out a little wiggle or two
Oh, but honey that was way before I met you
And then
(Repeat chorus)
I couldn't think of nothin' better to do
Than checkin' out a little wiggle or two
Oh but honey that was way before I met you
When you walk in baby love begins
When you walk by baby ooh my my
When you come around, my jaw hits the ground
When you shake your thing I jump outta my skin
When you cross the floor I scream "more baby more"
When you flash your smile you drive me wild
Yeah, yeah you drive me wild
When you walk in baby love begins
When you walk by baby ooh my my
When you come around, my jaw hits the ground
When you shake your thing I jump outta my skin
When you cross the floor I scream "more baby more".
And when i was pregnant with my son and living in California, and the hormones would kick in, and i would get homsick, the songs that cheered me up were Barry Manilow's " Mandy " and " Weekend in New England ." Don't ask ? LOL !
OK....hum I have to pick just 2 songs right?
A. My favorite mediveal/piratey type song is a toss up between Wild Mountin Thyme and Mary Mac.
B My favorite get up and move song is torn between Love Shack and Baby Got Back(they usually play that song for me when I'm out at the club with my non-pirate friends)
But my favorite country song is the Highwaymen by Wilie, Waylon, Johnny, and Kris

This is concert footage from Anguilla, Cincinnatti, Paris, Hawaii, etc. I watched it this morning while I was doing a little housework. If you can't be at a concert, then this is a good way to get your Buffett fixx. Fins UP!
Good news! The badges went out this afternoon and I hope you'll be happy with my little labor of love. Fins UP!

Heads up, Landsharks! Time to tune your computer to http://www.radiomargaritaville.com/listen_now.htm to be treated to Sir Jimmy live in Philly - the insanity is due to begin in about 20 mins - 8:00 Philly time. For some reason I have to click the link that says "Click here to listen the old way".
Fins UP!
ETA: They announced a while ago that there was a lot of lightening, which is probably delaying the concert.
Both southern New York, and Pennsylvania are getting hit by some strong thunderstorms. Hopefully does not cancell concert !

I got my ROoL Fin and love it! But what is my Landshark #?
Thanks,

I'm glad you rec'd your fin. There's a little thought to it:
a. a shark fin for LANDSHARKS!;
b. abalone colored for the ocean; and
c. a guitar pick for Jimmy.
Please feel free to embellish away - pics please!
I've been keeping a running tab of members on the first page - will cut & paste it so it's further down the thread.
You, m'dear, are Landshark No. 37. Thanks & fins UP!
I had actually kinda had the same ideas on the fin! Sorry I didn't know of the running list. I've got to get some one to take a decent fair pic of me, as I'm usually the one behind the camera. Hopefully this will happen soon.
Thanks,
Yrose

Renee & Steve -- Landsharks # 42 & # 43.
And we are raising a guppy! Our oldest son Tony who lives in Boston is going to a JB concert by himself in the fall because either none of his friends have heard of JB, or if they have, they don't want to go.
Both our kids could sing Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds, Octopus's Garden in the Shade, and Margaritaville before they started pre-school. None of that "Wheels on the Bus" stuff for them. Plus we lived in the Keys then. Nuff said.
When my son was in grade school - after the DARE program - he heard Margaritaville while driving down the road w/me one afternoon. I was belting, as usual, and he was just appalled that the singer was putting the blame for his drinking issues on someone else. I had to tell him to listen to it all the way through, which appeased his little self righteous self. Now, of course, he's not the least bit adverse to wastin' away in Margaritaville. We've got three generations of Parrotheads in our family - my mom, myself & my son.
Welcome to the ROoL, Landsharks! I know your son will have a blast.
Guppy #44 reporting for duty, mum.
Only 10 years exactly before I turn LandShark, yay~

FINS UP!
Now thats my kinda board meeting!
I got it! I GOT IT! I GOT IT!
And have been wearing it about the office since it came out o' the envelope around 11:00 this morn!
Captain, the fin TOTALLY ROCKS!
I think this calls for a celebration. Shots anyone? lol
Oh! That reminds me... If you like Tequila Makes Her Clothes Fall Off I ran across a song on iTunes Nancy Drinks Tequila by BarleyJuice. I happened to listen to it while downloading Juice of the Barley (played on RenFest Podcast) "Nancy" is a great bar song - quick beat and good Irish tune! I must admit the reason the song appreals to me is I resemble Dearest Nancy in many a way... but I use salt and lime and I'm more than willin' to shoot a whiskey now and then! lol
Nancy Drinks Tequila (K. Swanson)
there's a bonnie lass from county bucks
i'm sure you've heard about
on the subject of the drinkin'
she is utterly devout
never had a dram of whiskey
never had a pint of stout
surely that is not to say
she's the type will do without
nancy drinks tequila
and she drinks it night and day
stronger men than old sylvest
i've seen her put away
her lips'll ne'er touch whiskey
beer or porter, punch or tay
nancy drinks tequila
and she drinks it night and day
when nancy's in the public house
there's sure to be a bloody row
she'll always drink a dram more than
the landlord can or will allow
if looks could kill it's sure that more
than one man would have up and died
hell it hath no fury as when
nancy's thirst has been denied
nancy drinks tequila
she's not like a normal irish lass
she'll even eat the worm that's lyin'
at the bottom of the glass
i dare you all lads big and small
if you believe you've got the brass
go head to head with nancy and
she'll drink you flat upon your arse
nancy drinks tequila
and she drinks it night and day
stronger men than old sylvest
i've seen her put away
her lips'll ne'er touch whiskey
beer or porter, punch or tay
nancy drinks tequila
and she drinks it night and day
we used to meet on saturdays
down at the pub the drum and fife
and after twenty shots or so
one night she said she'd be me wife
i can't complain about the pain
that's in me brain each sunday mornin'
i suppose this life i chose
it hasn't come without a warnin'
now we're a loving couple
tipplin' doubles down in dublin town
she's still as pretty as the day
i saw her in her wedding gown
as for me it's plain to see
tequila's cost me liver dear
i wonder if she'll love me less
if i go back to drinkin' beer
nancy drinks tequila
and she drinks it night and day
stronger men than old sylvest
i've seen her put away
her lips'll ne'er touch whiskey
beer or porter, punch or tay
nancy drinks tequila
and she drinks it night and day
I'm so glad you got your phin! I'm not really crazy about the back (which came as a kit), so you might keep your eye on it. I'll be making more phins as favors, but only Landsharks will have the abalone coloration. Thanks for the song - I'll check iTunes for it when I get home.
For new members, I'll be getting your phins in the mail by - hopefully - the end of the week.

Oh and a toast to our very creative , and generous pin maker Taffy !
Guppy #33 here, just got my phin today! Thanks Taffy!
*needs to figure out how to get a monkey attached now...*
Got mine last night, very nice job!
WHEE! As of yesterday, phins have been sent to all Landsharks & Guppies! I am lifting a pina colada - boat drink! - to everyone - Fins UP!
Hmmmmmm????
Does a rum and cola qualify as a boat drink, Luv? ;) :D
"Imagine all the heartaches and tears,
In twenty seven years a beers."
I tend to think of drinks that would be served w/a little umbrella, a skewer of pineapple, or mermaid rim sitter as being a boat drink. But if a Landshark is drinking it, it must therefore be a boat drink! It's all in the attitude, luv.
Coupla things: Does anyone have a clipart of a shark fin - maybe cartoonish - they could send me? and
If you're going to be at TRF (All Hallow's Eve & Pirate Invasion for now), I'd love to have a meet up and get a group photo. Let me know.
I could really use a pina colada right now.
Loong day at zoo = whiny kids.
My girl was very good, however.
Can't wait to get my phin ;D
Since I'm allergic to Pineapples I would have to have a Gay Pyrate. But I'll raise the glass with you.
Darlin' girl, what exactly is the make up of a Gay Pyrat?
Come to row 7-8 in the campground and look us up.
The Bayou Scoundrel's will be in attendance and fun will be had by all.
Photo op would best at the prince of wales around 12n00n on sat and sun right after the R/F group photo.

Oh, a gay pyrat is very simple as follows:
2 jiggers of your favorite spiced rum
8 oz of Diet Pepsi with lime
Garnish with a lime slice speared with a plastic sword swizzle stick.
Enjoy!!!!

And here I would have said, 'Eyeshadow in sable brown. Highlight above the eye with a cool light pink. Eyeliner in a warm chocolate brown with lots of non-clumping black mascara. A nice concealing foundation in shell pink. Contouring blush in a dusty rose.
Use a lip liner in a shade or two darker than the rose pink lipstick with a generous application of lip gloss tinted oh-so-slightly pink.'
OH! I thought you meant.....never mind! :-[
;D pink eyeshadow - love it. Speaking of loving it, I'm going to have to try the drink recipe - sounds yummy!
Ooooohhhhh!!!!!!! What a surprise!
I came home to find 2 Landshark pins in the mail for Steve and for me. I thought it was only for the original members and that we had signed up too late. They're great, and we'll wear them proudly!
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

sciatica giving me grief. anyone wanna take me to the beach so I can just lay there? Build the sand castle over me if you want. I can't move very far.
Still haven't gotten my phin. I must have been really bad. *sniff* *jk*

I swear I put it in the mail - sorry to hear about the sciatica. It is absolutely horrible pain - about 3 levels above childbirth.

Ooh. I have Sciatica also. have you tried the stretching exercises? I find that by regular stretching and other exercises I can manage the pain better than with medication.
It's okay, crappy week and all.
It's funny you say childbirth, I told mom it was like being big and in labor again. *lol* ouch.
I've been doing my cat stretches and it really helps out; plus, the heating pad is my best friend right now. I hate having to be dependant on meds cause half the time they don't work.
~warm sandy beach, warm sandy beach, spiced rum, spiced rum~ *om*
You might try a couple of big pillows under your knees & laying at about a 30% angle. Seems to put make space for the nerve.
I got my phin today, made my day! ;D
Put mine on my vest and plan to wear it at WiRF for the first time.
Whats up ROoL, sorry I have been on walkabout but it's been a crazy time.
I did get my pin, thank you, I love it.
I also came across this today www.meetthephlockers.com very interesting.
Hope all is well with everyone...

I couldn't find where taffy had posted that she was alittle worried about the back of the fin. I wore mine for the first time this weekend and I lost the backing. I am looking for a replacement. I know you can use a pencil easer in a spot.
The fin stayed on, just lost the backing.
Got some questions from people on what it was and why I had it. They all loved it. great job Taffy!

Taffy, I sent you Ladiedragons info already.
Hi everyone,
I hope since I now have a guppy number that it's okay for me to pop in now and introduce myself. I have been a buffet fan for years (it just goes with being a long time Floridian), but I went to my first Buffet concert last November at the Ford Ampitheater here in Tampa. It wasn't a cheap ticket, but soooo well worth it and I am looking forward to going again! I even made a Parrot hat to wear to the dismay of hubby who was gracious enough to put up with me singing and dancing through the whole concert. I have read two of his books (the last one being Swine Not?) and I make sure to at least buy something from every Margaritiville I've visited. :)
FINS UP! ....Where's my Malibu coconut rum...it's close enough to the holiday weekend! Wahoo!
Have a safe and happy 4th!

I don't know whether ye heard or not but USA Today was running a contest where you had to rewrite a stanza of "Margaritaville" to win. Here be the ones that Captain Jasper and I entered:
1. "Headin' for NOLA,
Passin' Angola,
Coming home with the wind in my sails.
Dreamin' of crawfish,
And it's my one wish,
To be suckin' some heads and a'pinchin' some tails."
2. "I dream of a tall ship,
Makin' a long trip,
Guess I'm a pirate in search of a crew,
She said I'm a schemer,
I said I'm a dreamer,
She said there's no difference between the two."
3. "Sailin' on the beam reach,
Can't wait till I beach,
Sit my weed puller on Buffet's barstool.
The trip was a long one,
Under the hot sun,
Can't wait to hydrate with somethin' that's cool."
We didn't win but it was fun!

I hope the accident wasn't too severe!
Fins are up, sails are tight, and plenty of rum after beating subordinates!!
Wait a minute, I'm the "guppy" here, aren't I?! :o
Dan
It was an accident back towards the tailend of July - still under a chiropractor's care, but that should be coming to an end next week. Completely totalled my Chevy Metro - even threw the top off center & twisted my seat. Due to paperwork foolishness (my bad), the settlement hasn't come in & I am wheelless unless I can borrow my mom's car - flashing back to 1973.
But any accident you can walk away from is a good one & I walked away from that one. Fins UP & drive safely!
Woo-Hoo!!! My phin came today, I can now wear it for pirate invation weekend at NYRF. Thanks!
I say we give all the pirates that have gone before us--Morgan, Bartholomew, Kidd, Rackham, Bonney, Read, all of them---the honorary Landshark number of 00.
If it weren't for them, Buffett never would have written 'A Pirate Looks at Forty'. :D
I second that emotion! ;D

Splendid idea Welsh Wench ! They should have a honorary number .
" A Pirate looks at Forty ' ! Hmm..we would not know anything about that, right Wenchie. We are both holding at um...29....right girlfriend ! We just um both lied about our age to join this group. ;D ;)

I'm glad phins have started to trickle in - they went out in the mail - in Houston - last Wednesday & I have been worried that the storm sent them flying to the four winds.
Welsh Wench, I concur that our piratical forbears should be 00's - or ought oughts. Where would we be w/o them?
NorthBayDreamer, if you wake up w/your shark butler missing you'll know where to come looking for him. He looks like a true parrot head!
I'll be checking in periodically - am staying in the San Antonio OFFICE w/my fur babies - it's a one BR duplex as home is still power & water less.
To all our Gulf Coast brethren - hope you're all well & that the electricity, etc., gods smile on us soon.
Fins - & chins - UP!
Taffy Saltwater,
I hope you and your fur babies are still doing well and my heart and prayers go out to those in the wake of hurricane Ike.

Fins UP!
Ah is officially green with envy!
Have fun, Luv!!! ;D
Yup, no problem Taffy, I have emailed you directly with the info. :)
OMG! What an awesome free concert that was. Parrot Heads united!!
I tell ya, last year I was in the lawn area, but this year I got to sit (or should I say stand) in actual seats. Jimmy was so much closer!!! I think he had on the same outfit though as the concert last year, ( blue board shorts and a bright yellow shirt). Even the Coral Reefer band came up from Key west to play with him and he did bless his heart like 10 songs!!! It was sooooo awesome!!! :) Beer though was $9 a pop.
I do have some sad news to report though....he did say that yesterday (Sunday Nov. 2nd) Captain Tony (the guy that owned the bar down in Key West) passed away yesterday and he did a tribute song to him. You could see Jimmy was pretty choked up about it. He said the guy was like 92 or 93. Very sad....but, still an awesom free party!!!
Sounds like you had a great time - So, did he play Fins? -- UP!
LOL! Yup he sure did. That was what he opened with and a glimpse of that song and crowd was shown on the local TV newstations. :)

Pradznichnaya... In Afghanistan, the Soviet troops drank brake fluid when they ran out of Pradznichnaya and Stolichnaya.
Now Moskovkaya... there's a real enjoyable vodka! And I HATE vodka!
Hail, Mad Jack...I can neither confirm nor deny that soviet aircrewmen also developed a fondness for aircraft deicing fluid...those wacky vozdushnij ekrazh!!...i tol'ko, er, I mean, and also, soviet infantry were noted for their ingenious method of spreading their alcohol-based shoe polish on bread...they'd leave it awhile, scrape off the polish, and then eat the alcohol-sodden bread...now thats a cold way to spend a little time on the tundra!!
Cheers!!

I just ran across this, and can't believe I didn't hear from friends in the Keys... Tony was one of my all time favorite people, and over the several winters I spent in Key West I alternately worked for him, drank with him, hung out in the bar, or just toked up in the back room (well, everyone has their wild years, right???). I knew him long after his Midnight Run days, and before, during and after his days as Mayor of KW, and he was always quick with a joke, light up your smoke, or spot you a drink if you were down to fishin' for your supper. Many nights spent blind drunk and wonderin' which way the boat was, and several with Saint Jimmy (JB at the time), Tony and the crew playing poker or rollin' a few for the road. I've had pieces of poetry and business cards up on the walls or ceiling of the bar (bearing the name of the Man, himself), and even been escorted home when I was too drunk to behave politely in public. I have the distinct honor to have never been thrown out, though, no matter how obnoxious I managed to get, and I'll never forget the man who shared so much of himself and his adventures, both in person and in stories...
Kick back on deck, Tony, have a brew, and let someone else take the wheel for a while. Oh, and kiss the wife and baby for me... I know you're all finally happy together again...! Goodbye, my friend...
Mmketeer, would you by any chance recall the tribute song Jimmy played for Capt. Tony???
I'm not Mmketeer, but it was 'Last Mango in Paris'. :D
I knew it... Tony laughed so hard he cried the first time he heard it, but I always suspected one of those tears was the genuine article... :'( :D :'(
Fair winds and following seas, Capt...

Thanks for answering that WW, I honestly didn't remember.
Tickets go on sale this Saturday for the Ford Ampitheaternhere here in Tampa for Buffet's summer tour. Man I wish I had the money to go!!! :( Pooh-pooh on the economy!
At least I got see him in November and the year before that.
SALT, SALT, SALT
No Houston area JB concert for this Landshark this year, although he will be in Dallas. Which would mean in addition to 3 tickets (can't go w/o my mom & kiddo) we would need a night in a hotel - so no JB for me this year. Damn the economy!
I remember when I could catch him half lit up on the stage of Margaritaville in Key West (in the first 3 years it was open) for the price of a drink, and even three sheets to wasn't enough to stagger the man!!!
Damn the passage of time! LOL

So it turns out hubby tried to surprise me with tickets for my birthday (which is that week) and he went online to Ticketmaster at 9:30am this morning and some other site and tried at 10am to get us tickets and he couldn't get anything affordable. He said the only thing they had available would have cost $500 for us to go.
I told him it was the thought that counts and maybe he'll keep checking cause he thinks this year they held back on selling all the tickets or sold them off to other brokers. Very sweet that he tried, but very sad...I so wanted to go!
Well, fishsticks! He won't be playing Houston this year, but will be playing Dallas. By the time you add a hotel room & 3 tickets - well, no JB for me this year. Will keep my fingers crossed for you, Mmketeer!
I'd like to add that though this is Florida here, it was 36 degrees when I left for school on Friday morning.
36!!!!!!
There was frost on the ground and the only thing that saved my car from an icy windshield is that it was parked facing west instead of east!
Our vehicles were all iced up some days ago. I lived in Colorado for 10+ years & now 1/8 inch of frost is too flipping much.
I'm just happy I can take the ice chopper and bust loose the massive accumulation of ice at the end of my driveway. ::)
Stay warm, my ice-locked Landsharks!
I should have taken advantage of this weekend's sale on Landshark Lager, but I'm dry until May. I'll survive. ;D
I think the LS lager is best in the summer - but am sorry you missed the sale. I'm enjoying a pinon hot chocolate from New Mexico - a birthday gift from my bf.
Ahoy ye Landsharks!
Permission to come aboard!

News out of PHLand:
Jimmy Buffett and the Margaritaville Dolphins
E! Online – Jimmy Buffett and the Margaritaville Dolphins(E! Online) .Josh Grossberg Josh Grossberg – Fri May 1, 7:03 pm ET
Los Angeles (E! Online) – Could it be a matter of time before the Parrotheads supplant the porpoises on the gridiron?
We're not sure what he's cooking up, but "Cheeseburger in Paradise" purveyor Jimmy Buffett is about to begin working in some capacity with the Miami Dolphins.
The Mayor of Margaritaville will join new team owner Stephen M. Ross for a press conference on May 8, during which they're expected to announce to announce a sponsorship deal with the singer-songwriter known for his odes to hedonism.
Details of the pact are being kept under wraps, however the Miami Herald reports that Dolphins Stadium is going to be renamed Landshark Stadium after Buffett's beer, Land Shark Lager, produced in collaboration with Anheuser-Busch.
Ross is also planning a Margaritaville-themed area in the venue which may sport Buffett's Margaritaville restaurant, and word is Ross is also looking to invite the 62-year-old crooner to become a minority owner in the franchise.
The whole effort is aimed at rebooting the Dolphins' image after a string of miserable seasons. Before last fall, the team hadn't made the playoffs in seven years.
Phins up!
Now we know what to do when you have more money than you know what to do with.... ::)
Not a bad fit, tho...JB and the Dolphins. Last I heard, he still has a nice little 40 room cottage in Ft Lauderdale, splitting his down time between there and New England. He is still adored down here in Floriduh...We were at John's Pass in Madeira Beach for Scurvy Awareness Day this weekend. The Muzak in all the shoppes is still Classic Buffett.
And yes, I still have all his CDs, 'cept mebbe the most recent of the series of live recordings that got redundant.....
'Tho I really think we could have used his magic here in Tampa. The Buccaneers have had a lousy record the last few seasons, and he is still a pirate at heart, right?
