village folk have started arriving on the grounds of sherwood in anticipation of our spring festival.
tinkers and merchants are constructing shelter from which to sell their wares.
minstrils and troubadors are building stages to entertain.
grass is growing.
the eight inches of rain recently prove the grounds are fantastic for our faire. no standing water to speak of at all.

I may come up this weekend and "supervise" my Son's booth construction.
Supervise = sit in chair and drink beer and provide criticism.
His booth is 113. Going to be a two story structure, with sleeping quarters above.
Wonderful! I'm moving back to Austin soon and can't wait to get started.
Mpullen I met and talked to your son a couple weeks back when we came to scout booth spots. The two story structure looked to be coming along very well and was impressive!

He owns a resale shop in Alvin. I advised him that his wares need to be "non-import" and period appropriate.
I think his main market target will be other vendors, supplying shop decorations. He took me to a large auction house in NE Houston and I showed him the items that would sell best, like a leather chair fit for a barbarian king throne, or tables and chairs that would be suitable for any shop that Robin Hood would care to bend a mug in.
Was out there this saturday framing up our roof, Met our neighbors at booth 113, Great guys by the way. Did not get a chance to roam much since we were under time constraints but the grounds are looking good.
as it happens I will once more have the experience
of "free" time on saturday, oct 24, if anyone needs some
help, let me know via pm, and I'll come out.
I'm happy to help raise a wall, swing a hammer or just
pick up muck, just want to help out.

we are all tied down at trf...but, we have 750 # of rye grass that needs to be sown on the grounds.
we could leave it in the foyer of the camp house and you could pick it up and help make sherwood greener.
maybe another couple of folk could assist.
its really fun and one can just look around on the grounds currently and see the results of our last grass sowing.

do you have something like a sod plan you could leave out as well,
so I know where you want me to focus? also do you have a spreader,
I think I have one in the garage I can dig up.

i have a hand held spreader, but we just used buckets and threw the seed by hand. it was actually really a great experience.
the seeds need to go where there is not rye currently.
it will be quite obvious...as the rye is flourishing where we have put it.

Pity the seed wasn't there this past weekend. Gave Daughter, her fiance, and grandson (don't think he paid much attention) a grand tour in between "supervising" Son's booth construction. Funniest thing was watching Grandson (almost 2 years old) cross his arms and put a serious face on. Looked just like a construction forman. All he needed was a hard-hat and a coffee cup.

Might I suggest that we don't plant grass seed on the gravel roads? It looks nice, but sort of wasted seed.

I'm very impressed with his booth design. The actual shop space is one of the largest, but he is also building a covered patio that is in sight of the round stage. If it rains, folks will seek shelter and while on the patio, they are a captive audience for the shop. The second floor will be living quarters, complete with A/C and entertainment.
Hmmm, I have to tent camp in Playtrons and he has a nice comfy place in the booth? Hmmm, if the weather gets bad, I think Dad may have to visit Son for the night.

Maybe you should tell him he needs an (enclosed) watch tower --- and just go ahead and add a third floor while he's building ... ;D
