It's been so long since I've read and caught up on the forums, I just now got around to rading this whole thread.  I know that dealing with diabetes is so very difficult, and even moreso when it is your young child that is affected.  But you are handling it so well.  You are very strong and your little one is lucky to have such an awesome mom.  My fiance, Drake, is Type 1.  He is 34 now and was diagnosed when he was 12.  So I know all about the ups and downs, and the moods.  Since Drake is an adult, he just gets really grumpy when he is high, and then when he is higher than that, he is just sleepy.  I can usually tell what his glucose levels are based on his mood and how he looks.  I think that since she is so young though, the blood sugar level fluctuations don't just make her grumpy but make her kind of throw a fit sometimes.  A family friend has a 7 year old who is type 1 and she acts much the same way - she's a great, sweet, smart kid but sometimes she lashes out, doesn't want to take her insulin or check her levels or eat properly.  I think it's just so hard on kids, too - having to do all this crazy stuff that other kids don't have to do.

How are her levels these days?  Still up in down or do they seem steadier?

Anyway, I just wanted to say that I'll be thinking of you both and checking in here to see how you're both doing.

She's not going low quite as often now. What we are working on is keeping her from going high a bit less at this point. Since moving down here her moods have started to even out a bit more too. She likes who we are with and they stay on the same page as me and have the patience to deal with her when she gets moody. The other good thing is that she's not the only diabetic anymore! There is a 12, almost 13 year old boy that goes to the school she'll be starting that was diagnosed when he was 8. There is also a few adults who have it as well. She's feeling more like part of a club rather than a loner. I'm so happy for her!

We also found a refuge for her to be a kid and have fun!!! Lady Phoenix has a farm not far from where we are and when we went to visit her numbers were PERFECT! Return visits are definitely in the plans!

Wonderful news ! i am glad the little one is doing better ! Having  kids around her who have diabetes does help. Now she won't feel like everyone is looking at her.
Deffinitely more trips  to the farm  should be plan. Being a country girl myself, i always found that being around animals can be very relaxing.  And they have actually done research and have found that being around animals and petting them can lower blood pressure...so maybe it helps lower blood sugar levels  too !  So yea, for  the farm  visits !  You better be careful though, she may  start asking for  a pony ! ;D ;D ;)
Big hug to her and  her mommy too !
