Yenn,

We are working them into being around each other, and always supervised.  They are avoiding each other for the moment but they sleep next to each other in individual kennels.  Every time we have introduced them to each other it has been at a distance and always someone holding each, with petting and all that.  There is lots of hissing on Sandia's part, Simon seems pretty calm but is not interested in approaching her yet.  Sandia is 8 years old but she has never lived without another cat; she was introduced to the late Nugget when she was about 8 weeks old after being taken straight from her family.  So I think after time goes by she will get used to him.  It was the same with Nugget when we introduced her.  He avoided her at first, then tolerated her, and within a little while they were inseparable.  It just takes time, cats do things on their own agenda.

Thanks for the tips though, I'll be sure to relay that to the 'rents if the trouble continues.

Zoe,

I also recommend these products if kitties need some calming.

First , is Feliway. I would not buy a plugin as it didnt seem to work  well but spray it on your clothes and furniture in  the area where kitties meet to set off to a more neutral scent.

Second one  that I heard gives excellent results is Bach's flower remedies. Unfortunately , they dont sell it in generic pet stores so if you decide to try it out , I would have to order online:

http://www.onlynaturalpet.com/products/Bach-Rescue-Remedy/238000.aspx

Both products are natural ( cat's pheromones in Feliway and flower essences in the other one).

I hope your kitties fall in love with one another :)

Hugs,

Yenn

PS: Catnip never had calming effect on either of my cats hehe. Older one hates it, she jumps and runs away from anything with it and younger one doesnt care for it even a little bit.

Sandia (the older cat) is a total niphead.  She loves it.  Simon doesn't seem to have much interest in it thus far though.  He might warm up to it.

We took him to the vet for his first checkup yesterday and the vet says he is probably older than we thought, probably about 6.  Which is crazy because he's in amazing shape for a cat that age.  We seriously put him at only 3.  But he's apparently missing most of his top teeth, but we can't tell if they were broken off or just never grew in, without X-rays.  He seems to eat just fine without them though, we didn't even notice.

 I have nip lovers too!
I have one cat with no teeth. It does not slow him down. He even eats dry crunchies! 6 is not old for a cat.

Heavens 6 is young for a cat.  My dearly departed Teekie was 18 when she passed.   I'll have to post pics of the newest additions to the family.  I cherish every moment they offer me of their attention.

I'd LOVe to see pictures Lady Oren! I have a Siamese who is pushing 20- Chingy. My Tachi is 15.  I love my feline family!  Down to only 5 now.

Back from Scarby and my Tachi is not doing well at all. See News from Meow Manor. Prayers needed. For I fear a sad decision must be made soon- unless he perks up.

Aww, Queen Bonnie!  I'm sorry to hear your Tachi isn't doing well.  D=  Healing thoughts and prayers on their way, for sure!

I don't believe I've posted my own Royal Feline here yet.  =D  We're separated at the moment, as I can't have him where I am right now, but as soon as I'm able, he'll be right back to sleeping in the little crook behind my knees, I'm sure.

May I introduce Mr. Crucio Jack Sparrow Stinky Pumpkinpieface.

He was just a kitten in that picture, the day I brought him home.  He'd picked me out, you see.  My friends and I were at a street festival, and a kind lady was walking around pulling a red wagon with a cage full of kittens.  Crucio there just kept -launching- himself at my side of the cage every time I came near.  So, I just -had- to take him home with me.

He enjoys playing in the drapery:

and curling up on his mum's lap in her nice quilt while she reads:

He really has the loveliest markings, doesn't he?  I adore him, he's more spoiled than any child could ever be.  A very lovey cat, he demands his daily pets and cuddles, and regally tolerates the way I bestow him with a million kisses on his fuzzy little head.  <3

AWWW! What a cutie Jinx! Long name for such a small cat! LOL! I love it! the best feline friends are the ones that pick YOU out! Our furry friends are very dear!
Tachi has bounced back with lots of TLC! He is eating a lot and his insulin dose has been increased. The Vet Tech who gives him his shots when I board him will care for him here in Meow Manor while I go to Scarby this weekend. Less stress on Tachi! Glad I could work something out! I am spoiling him rotten- but he is worth it! So happy he is better! The vet had not seen him for 2 weeks and was amazed at his recovery! Doing the happy dance!

Soooo glad to hear Tachi is doing better!  *joins the happy dance*

Crucio does have quite a long name.  I trained horses for several years, and seem to have come out of it with a knack for giving animals exceedingly long names!  Especially, it seems, cats, as I've named three others in the same manner for friends.  ^.^

Simon has been adapting very well to the household.  He practically runs the place now.  He and Sandia get along, though they're not quite the cuddle monsters that she and Nugget used to be.

Here's the bum, having stolen my pillow when he could've had the whole bed!
