Who the hell would ever green light a program like that?! I've got a dark sense of humour, but good lord.....

theChuck

yeah, i saw that this morning. it's kind of hilarious in an awful, awful way.

though just to play devil's advocate, it's not really fair to fault apple entirely for this; after all, they didn't build the app. they just dropped the ball and let it through.

there are, however, plenty of other reasons not to buy apple.

Well, I like my Macs, but someone dropped the ball on that one.  Of course, I've heard that the approval process for iPhone apps is pretty much automated, which is why it probably got through.  And it's not just on the iPhone.  These apps are on ALL phones that function like the iPhone.  My Google G1 has the dumbest apps that soucl be put right in the same catagory.  I just ignore them.  This is like arguing to not buy a PC because Microsoft let someone create viruses.   ::)

COKE! >< PEPSI!

FORD! >< CHEVY!

McDONALDS! >< BURGER KING!

See, you can have this argument with virtually any product.  But lets not.

Isn't waking up with the King better than waking up with some clown named Ronald?  ;D

Here in the South, we don't have these problems...

DR. PEPPER!

DODGE!

WHATABURGER!

See, it's not that hard...

And in response to the original topic, as a parent of a newborn (3 months old now and he's just AWESOME!!) when I saw this on the news, it made me want to puke. This isn't just disgusting, it's disturbing. Who in their right mind would think this was even REMOTELY funny?

Well, this is just one that made the news.  You should see the phone apps (and these are non-Apple brands) that don't make the news that are all about farts, stimulating virtual women, eating poo, killing hookers, etc.  Yes, these are all "games" that exist, and are just as disturbing.  What's more disturbing is that any kid with virtually any cell phone can download these games.  Even worse, someone is making money off of these.

This isn't a reason not to buy an apple...it's a reason not to buy that one application.

Reasons not to buy an apple are the higher cost / performance ratio than a PC, and the silly commercials about how you can do all kinds of stuff on a MAC like make a video or record audio which are all things people can do on a PC and aren't a reason to buy an apple over a PC.

I did not want this to turn into an Apple vs. PC thread...However I feel this is entirely my fault for choosing my words poorly.

I wanted to post about my sincere irritation that Apple would promote such a horrific game.  Sure there is a place for all sorts of garbage in the world and any kid can buy it, but that's a poor excuse for Apple to sell it.

True, they did not make the game...but they sold it on their site for profit.  I think they better look a little closer at what they choose to associate themselves with.  This was entirely tasteless.

Well said Noble- the fact the game made it that far says a lot. I couldn't agree more- it was tastless on the part of Apple to promote it in the first place just as it would have been for any company.
