Where's the after faire party?

We were there for opening weekend and are regulars at TRF.  This was our first time at Scarby.  One of the things we enjoy about TRF is the after party around the fire circle?  Where does the after party happen at Scarby?  We stayed at Lake Bardwell last time and there was nothing going on there either.  We will be there again on the weekend of May 2nd/3rd and are staying at Lake Bardwell again (Mott park).  Does anyone know of anything going on after the faire closes?

Um, if you find it, let me know. scarby post-party seems a 'bit' smaller in scale and limited to how many of your friends you can pile into a given restaurant or at someone's hotel pool area. Fun, but tis no TRF.

Any after closing cannon fun requires more planning here.

There are two differences with Scarby and TRF. TRF is very party oriented and not so strict where as Scarby is more period and a bit more family oriented. Family in the meaning of kid friendly as well as the cast and playtrons are closer out there.

I love TRF but do not attend the bonfire for I do not like hanging around and "partying" with complete drunken strangers. I feel a little threatened and that has never been my thing. At Scarby, I know that there is a place back stage just for the cast to go and hang out. It is a cafe/restaurant/bar on site, a very cool little place and I have been quite often when I work out there. The cast also camps back stage and they might have little events going on in their personal camp sites. But to the fire circle, there is none at Scarby. I believe it is a liability thing.

If I do not stay on site, it usually happens that everyone breaks off into their large or small group of friends and you either go out to dinner, or back to where someone/everyone is staying and have your own kickin' awesome party.

Unfortunately, I have so many friends/family there that when some go to one place and some go else where I have to pick who I want to spend that night with. -_-

Some of my friends/family and I are planning a really cool little party together this season that that we did as well last year and the word got out. Wonder what is going to happen this season? 0.o

It all depends on who you know and where you want to go.

Thanks for your comments Captain and Element!  Call me crazy but I just adore hanging out at fire circles with drunk strangers!  To each his own, I suppose!  Some of my best friends were met around the fire circle at TRF!  Anyways, I guess we are resigning ourselves to waiting until TRF for the after faire fun.  We will try to drum up some interest in our own fire circle at the campground at Mott Park.  Wish us luck!

See you at faire!

Some time, i do wish to go at least she this camp ground, as I too LOVE hanging about a camp fire and chatting.

The bon fire insanity if all swell, and I go check it out, then 5 min later mozy on back to one of the groups of friends, and proceed to their smaller, more intimate fire. Last year at TRF I made far more friends basically drifting from fire to fire during cold nights. I loved it!

But ok yeah, Scarby! I love this faire, and our after parties are varied, but it is what you make of it. Not everything can be like TRF, nor should it be. Each faire has its pros and cons.

Besides, I think my liver can only handle one round of TRF LOL

went to TRF for the 1st time last year and camped the weekend and the camping was fun... BUT our tent was 40 yards from the "drum circle" (remember 1st time... didn't know any better)... which i didn't mind all the out of sync drumming... but when it didn't stop until 6:00 AM and the BAGPIPES started just after midnight... that was a little overkill. I also observed ALOT of "tippsy" teens that didn't seem like they were planning on atending the faire itself... I'm all for ren faire camping and partying, but there has to be some limits... i also thought there would be more folks in garb for the after faire time, just to keep the illusion alive... but didn't see much of that... i wish Scarby had camping, i live in Waxahachie, but i'd still camp out there.

You should try camping at TRF again, farther away from the fire. Then go walk about to some of the camps. You'll have a much better time. As for garb it comes and goes, some are comfortable all day and night, others garb is not so comfy.

That has always been my sadness about Scarby, no after party means all the fun and meeting friends has to end when the gates close at night...  I've always enjoyed meeting people at TRF by fireside and drum circle!  I do love Scarby by day of course, but even as often as I went last year, I was never invited to an after party of any kind and so did nothing at night by hang with my two friends I came with...  The scarby folks were always nice during the day, but it was sad for me that we were never invited out at night.  Maybe I just didn't hang with the right folks, but I did hang tons with element even...

You and your cohort in crime have an open invitation to dinner with us every Saturday (and Sunday) that we are there.  A dinner herd always forages in town.  It may be meager compared to the after hours festivities at TRF, but it is all that we can muster.  Good company, good food (usually  ;) ), and a little diversion happens before we adjourn to hotels or home.

A lot of the time I don't know what my plans are till about 5 minutes before closing cannon and the people whom I want to invite are already gone. :(

When you come again, feel free to ask me what the plans are and I will keep you posted. There is usually a fairly large group/gaggle of us heading in one direction or another in search of food, drink and rest.

The intimacy of Scarby is what I like. You can have a large feast for many, or you can have five people sitting around having good conversation. TRF is my home fair, but I have come to enjoy the quiet of Scarby...
Does anyone else hear a ticking sound..?

The bestest parties to me out there are if you are lucky enough to have a room at the Super 8. Large crowds of us take that place over and we hang by the cement pond until the wee hours

So in two weeks, Rachel and I should be attending Scarby and plan to stay in a hotel...  seems I should chose super 8...  Who else will be there that weekend?
