Our solar powered cat (we think she has sinus problems and self-treats it with heat from the lamp) We call her "BD" for "Birthday" since she was born on my wife's birthday)

My boy, Bob knows when I'm about to leave for Faire...and is pretty emphatic about how he feels about it!  :D

Here's one of my Kitty Girlfriend, Sara Lynn. She's actually Lady Mikayla's kitty (easy to tell because they're both so pretty and slinky!  :D).

When I was still living in Austin, I would randomly send care packages of goodies to Lady Mikayla. After she unpacked one particular package of bounty, Sara apparently smelled my scent in the packaging and snuggled herself right in the box! Lady M snapped this pic and told me that my "girlfriend" missed me.  ;)

This is the adorable little furball I brought home during my University's homecoming last year.....

Her name is Saphira....yes like the dragon :P
She wasn't very happy with me for this one...

She's not so little anymore.....I'll try to get a more recent picture up eventually!

Things here and there.

They are replacing the toilets in my apartment complex, so I got my place ready so they can move in and out. Among the things I had to move was bike rack, a three piece metal sculpture thing with arms. I took it apart and in the half moon circular base I found ................ 7 kitten play balls, the kind with the bell in them, that had been batted in and "lost" from times before.

With things moved around so there is a clear walk way, that means the bottom of the sofa is exposed. "LOOK! A NEW TOY TO TEST OUR CLAWS ON!" .....which resulted in a few "NYETS!" from me and pulling a cat throw lower to give the sofa more protection.

Took the oppurtunity to vacuum some today, warned the Egypkits, and when I turned it on, Osiris was wide eyed and ran into the kitchen, the only path, but that was too close, not enough room. So I turned off the beast for a moment and he took off the other way, to disappear on the window sill behind the bookcase. His sister, Isis, was slightly more calm about it for she was still in sight....though not that far from the window sill as well.

Ruffles, Mom's cat, gets out for an hour or so every day or so when I go to check on Mom's house (others check on her daily, feed her, check the litter). She loves the attention, will tangle herself all around one's feet to the point of tripping and show her apprectiation with .............. love bites. Fortunally, she has a small mouth so she can't really do much damage, but it does get one's attention, especially when she goes for the shins.

Nimr paid that life FIXING visit to the vet today but came home safe and sound this evening, my co worker reported.

That reminds me of the time we had a new stove put in! When the guy from Sears moved the old stove out- he said, "Lady you have a mouse problem!" I said "With all my cats how could that be!" I was astounded a mouse could exist with- at the time I had 8 cats!  He let me look where the stove was pulled out and there must have been 30 or 40 catnip mice under the stove! Mouse Problem!!! LOL!

My cat went missing last Friday.  I'd searched the whole house for him but I couldn't find him.  My mom was worried that he'd developed another urinary tract blockage - he had one 5 years ago and we've had him on special food since to keep it from happening again.  But 7 months ago he developed diabetes and the vets told us to switch him to diabetic food; they said if he hadn't had a blockage in 5 years he would be fine without the special food.

Only, last night I found him dead in the basement.

He was only 11 years old.  I can't believe he's gone, I expected to have years left with him.  I can't believe I'll never hear his little baby "I'm hungry" whine again, or see him lift his little paw when he wants something, or snuggle with him on the couch, or have him lick my hands, or see him rolling around on the floor and purring because he's just so happy with his life.  My boy, my baby boy...

I am so mad at those vets.  I'm never taking any of my cats to them again.  This is just the last straw in a series of things I'm upset about with them: they didn't know Thutmose had a heart murmur, they physically restrained Sierra when they euthanized her, they see nothing amiss with my 21 pound cat or my 4 pound cat, they made us wait almost two hours for an emergency appointment when a large abscess on Martini's neck burst.  I just can't trust them anymore.

Ah PrincessSara, I'm so very sorry to hear about your kitty!!  I know how hard it is to loose a kitty.  I lost my most loved cat of all time, Spanky, about a year ago.  He was 14 and died of diabetes after having it for about 5 yrs.  Keeping a diabetic cat regulated is a challenging dance and does really require a competent vet!  You kitty could very easily have slipped into a diabetic coma and died from an insulin overdose if you weren't regulating him correctly.  Or he could have died from weight loss and under medicated insulin doses for an extended time...  11 yrs for a diabetic cat isn't that bad actually, though i personally thought 14 was way too short myself!!!

Hugs Princess Sara. I am so sorry for your loss. Very sad. You do need better vets. My Tachi- the King of Siam and lover cat of my life is diabetic and has thyroid disease. 2 shots and 2 pills twice a day every day for the rest of his life. It make going to faire complicated and expensive- but I love this cat so much. He is 16 and so far doing OK. My vets in Elgin are top notch. As long as he does Ok- happy to give him the care he needs. He is my familiar. I have never been so close to a cat.
I can understand how you must be feeling. HUGS!!!

Knowing that we'll be heading to TRF for All Hallow's weekend, we were concerned that Prussia would be lonely. Though someone would be coming to check on him twice a day, that still left 22 hours with no company. We decided that it was time for a second furbaby here at the Shadow's Hold, so we started looking. After our experience finding Prussia so easily, we didn't expect difficulty. Guess again.

We had decided that we wanted another male, either one of Prussia's brothers or a young kitten. Our friend who had fostered Prussia still had several of his siblings but had gotten really attached to them so that was a no-go. They had a young kitten and an older cat that they were looking to re-home but both were female.

We went to several rescue facilities and found a little kitten (Williams litter) that called out to both the Ranger and I. First they wanted us to see a litter of kittens that had been raised at a foster home. We checked them out but none of the kittens took to us.

They finally notified us Tuesday that we were approved to bring home the Williams kitten. I filled out the paperwork Wednesday, took him by the vet for FLuek and FIV tests (both negative), and got ready to bring him home. They let us know that he had a slight respiratory infection and needed 10 days worth of drops in his eye for that.

Anyway, a much too long story just to tell you that Shade has come home to the Shadow's Hold and has officially decided that the Ranger belongs to him. Prussia still isn't sure he's not pissed at us but he's not been able to stay mad at the baby. He's been seen giving the little monster a bath and letting him steal the sparkle ball that they love to play with.
