Hey all! I saw a question for the 'Uni-Card' and wanted to let you know that our Faire (Scarby) does not have that requirement anymore. You don't have to join 'the club' to drink.
On that note to those who have never been in TRF, or Scarby 'heat'.
This is not the place to get sloshed, the heat will keep you in check, even if we don't.

Elo, ask Berit (he's on here) after Sept, about possibly hanging the Rendevouz sign on the pavilion behind the Cat n' Fiddle.

Couple reasons why I like this idea:
~ You in an area of the place that has low traffic, so if we are over there we are not 'interupting' anyone in particular.
~ you are right next to our indoor pub and across from that, there are some games and the petting zoo (for those who fancy that)
~ You can watch the Joust and Highland Games and not have to leave the comfort of shade.

Mind; I wouldn't bother pestering managment right now about Scarby next year. Their minds are on SCREAMS and won't transition back to Scarby Matters until after SCREAMS is in full swing.

I wonder if the RenDezvous pin can acknowledge that it'll be Scarby's 30 year anniversary?

Welsh Wench has it right too, keep it simple, there is soooo much to see in such a small place that one activity a day would be just fine and get everyone into the spirit of the stay.

And the idea of having one out of towner and one local pairing up is brilliant! (or, small mass-herds)
The cast has spent many many moons creating our village into the reality that you see, and they are chock full of history for those who wish to hear about it. Plus, all the history and stories of the Villagers themselves and the Royal Court.

I can guarentee that the cast is aware of the Rendezvous and is excited about the gathering being at the Home Village. Elo, just let me know what I can do to help!.

Lady Renee Buchanan

A couple of memorable things from RenDezvous that we have attended in the past:

We marched in the parade both days with the RF banner.  It's so much fun.  I hope we can do that again.

Also, in TN, Welsh Wench and Lady Nicolette arranged with different vendors to each donate a gift certificate.  Each day at the morning gathering outside the gates, they passed around tickets (free) and drew them out of a hat, and gave the winners a prize.  It was a lot of fun, hand clapping, cheers, etc. (and me jumping up and down when I won one!).

Don't forget to plan a time for the group photo.  If there are RF members on cast, the photo was taken at the end of faire, outside the gates.

Hi Everyone,I'm the creator of the 2009 Commemorative Pin. My thoughts were that every year there would be a Commemorative item to mark this wonderful event. If theres anything I can do to help with this please don't hesitate to ask. ;)

Thanks so much, Lady Joyce Ann. We'll be in contact with you soon about who you went to to make the pins and how you went about doing it so we can have some tips. Again, thank you!!

Lilaney and I were talking and wonder if there might be interest in a guided tour of our faire?  Here's what we were discussing:

  • The tour would be done by interested cast / former cast who want to offer 20-30 minutes of their day.
  • The tour would be done in increments, so would cover the whole faire, but, say, Lilaney would do the first 30 minute increment which would cover front gate to the jousting field along the high road, then I would pick it up at the jousting field and head around Pecan Grove toward Eagle crossing, then someone else would do it from Eagle Crossing over the Troll Bridge and along to the Misting Bridge
  • The tour would consist of the history of OUR Scarborough, all of the stories and tales that have become a part of the accepted history that the performers use as background.  Sir Edsel, why people touch the posts when they cross the bridge, stories about characters who have become "canon" for us all, and the like.
  • People could drop in and out at the various segments or stay as long as they like.
  • It would happen once per day on the weekend that the RFers are here.

The thought is that this might appeal to those who like things like the HC&M lectures and the like, and might give a bit of a sense of the richness that our Scarborough has in terms of tradition and history.

Thoughts?

I am not an employee of Scarborough Faire and to not represent them in any way.

Merlin

First off...this ---> "the Pavillion behind the Cat 'n Fiddle rented out for the RF group that weekend".

If no one has unofficially or officially recognized Elo has head planner...someone has to direct things and she's doing a great job steering things... so HUZZAH Elo. (You must wear the hat every day though)

I'll be there every weekend and most every day  so if i can help out... let me know. I'll donate a day or more to be a guide to newbies... whatever it takes to ensure that those who elect to travel to my "home faire" are welcomed and assisted in a way that makes them enjoy Scarby..(how could you not enjoy Scarby, right? lol)

Let me know Elo and thanks for grabbing the bull by the horns, so to speak. I even promise to only clad in the DW Merlin AFTER the newbies meet me so as to not scare them off. It appears that I come across a bit scary to some people... especially the kiddos... don't want that.

I am jonesing for a faire so friggin bad right now.

I might wear it one day, both days, I don't know yet...I love my new hat...but I love my long hair too....

Lys + Lilaney, that is a wonderful idea and for those that like history and such, they would probably really enjoy it. I know I would enjoy it too...maybe I could get my own walk through one of the weekends before if we choose to do it, as I'd love to hear the stories of my home shire. Lilaney told me about the 1st Wishing Tree (I think thats what it was called? Forgive me if I got it mixed up.) Something to discuss and consider, definitely!

Merlin, thank you.  :) But I can't get all the credit, Blue has been doing quite a bit of work behind the scenes with figuring out area restaurants that would work, info on hotels, etc. She's my other half when it comes to this ordeal, so much kudos has to go to my big sister also.

Great!
Lyss and I will concur with other Villagers and cast and see what we can come up with and then present it to Elo and Blue.
Mainly we'll bring times and locations, so that Elo and Blue won't have to stress about building that part of the game.
It comes 'pre-built' and is simply an option of entertainment that will be offered to those who are interested.

And yes, Elo, you are right the '1st wishing tree' is a great story; the Baron had to induct a new one when the branches of the first one grew up taller than 20 feet.

There are all sorts of other stories to tell. Like the time Lady Francis had to 'rescue' Kitt Rooke and Sebastion from one of their many mortal perals. Or, the great Food Fight of 1527, or the Year the Gypsy's came, or even better: The Year the Baron Came!
(All depends on which side of the story you're on how awesome that adventure was.)

Now, no more threadjacking: Back on Target!

Great job to Elle, our entertainment director! I'll be handling our non-faire events, such as the Friday night gathering, as well as our "Farewell Dinner". We'll, of course, need Lairde Guard'n M'Crack to play the maitre 'd again LOL.

We'll have someone handling all of the hotel/camp information, and tickets as well. I'm sure that everything will be GREAT!!!

This sounds like it's going to be a blast!  I'm loving all the ideas!  Can't wait 'til Scarby next year!!!  I've never been to one of these, but if you need an extra hand, I'm here.  Seriously, if you folks need ANY help with ANYTHING (for the Rendezvous, of course.  I do have some limits!  :D ), I work from home and am usually always in front of the computer (unless I'm at faire).  ;)

I enjoy being a "Jack Jane of all trades".  "I have many skills."  And, I'm willing to craft, cook, greet, or pretty much any task.  Plz...plz...plz...let me help.

By the By I'm still here.... waiting to help plan.
My computer got a nasty virus on  it and as I don't have a very traditional job had no access to the forums until it got fixed.
But now it is and I'm back ready for whatever comes my way!

Elo & Blue, just had a thought, in watching Lady Glorianna collecting ticket money thru the mail for Rendezvous 2009,I think it would be alot easier to set up a paypal account to collect the ticket money. I know on the Rendezvous Pin thats how I'm collecting the money and so far so good.Just a thought.

Hey Guys, I'm just now catching up on this thread (read the entire thing just now). I voted a couple of weeks ago on the date but have been busy since. I appreciate everyone's efforts thus far, this is a monumental undertaking to assure that it turns out right. We will be there the entire weekend from Friday night until after all is done Sunday. Please, let us know what needs to be done. I've seen some great ideas - the tour of our beloved Scarby will be great, the "matching" of home and away folke is a great idea and many others. Making this a memorable weekend won't be a problem, but those who are leading things make sure and delegate so you are not overwhelmed and can actually enjoy the time yourselves. I will follow along, but keep me in mind (and Sherry, I'll volunteer her too, just don't tell her) and we will do what needs to be done to assure a grand event!

I am a bit of a historian and have studied Waxahachie quite a bit, don't know if that helps. Did you know Waxahachie is home to one of the top ten most haunted restaurants in the Country? But, I also know Scarby like the back of my hand as well (this coming year is my 20th anniversary so the Rendevous will have a special meaning to me, one year before Elo was born...bodkins I'm getting old).

How long will the voting last before the date is decided??

Voting for the date is up on August 20th. We should know by then!
