Faire gets over and all of a sudden it gets Very Very QUite that you could hunt Hamtsers. Come on people talk it up, have some fun, recruit more people, Heck lets just have a party every couple of weeks.

To be series though, many other faires have regular gatherings ever month or couple of months. I think it would be awesome if we did the same. Say all meet up some place in Denver or someones house and BBQ.. I'd host if I had a bigger place but then again I do have a Very nice park right next door.

Countess Westmorland

Greetings from PRF, Lady DeLaney!  First of all, allow me to compliment you on your photos.  I have checked into the Colorado Forum to find pictures of my friends.  They are very enjoyable!

About the gatherings, by all means, do it!  Yesterday was our dear Anne of Oaktower's birthday and we had a surprise party for her at a local Irish Pub.  There had to be 75 Rennies there, cast, playtrons and preformers.  It was a wonderful way to kick off faire season here.

We also have something we affectionally call RenStock twice a year, either at a playtron's farm or, in the winter, a wonderful lodge.  That usually brings about 100 of us out, even folks from the Great Lakes Medieval Faire.

Monthly we get together during the year at the Harp and Fiddle, the site of last night's debauchery, for an evening of drink and song when one of our own Faire Performers plays there, Terry Griffith, the Irish Troubadour.

Not only is it great to see one another during the year but we have become closer.  And there is not always garb involved.  Funny seeing people in mundane clothes when you aren't used to it.

Run with it and have fun!

Margaret/Countess is right...you should absolutely make it a point to get together frequently during the off-season.  Summer renstock is being planned, winter renstock is already scheduled, there are murmurings of some other informal gatherings to come over the winter months...we gather at every possible opportunity, and we don't wait for a reason.  (Although our beloved Dani gives up plenty of Reisens to live  :D)

We have become such a tight-knit group, and I wouldn't trade a single moment I spend with these wonderful folks!  We are a family...warts and all, as the saying goes.  We celebrate each other's joys and mourn our losses together.   Without this group, I would not have had a birthday bash the likes of which was given me on Friday night...it was amazing! ;D

Ok...I could go on and on...but all I really meant to say was....just do it!

Hey- Arent You?

I'm here.... but it is kinda dark.
How about next weekend, we all go up to site and throw a party?  they're all in Pittsburg, and they
never know.   ;D

OK, KIDDING!

I actually remember hearing a story, 2 years ago, I think, about how the guy who they hired to watch the site while everyone was out there, really did throw a party.  as I recall, he, and several other people, went to jail.

but, yer right.  this is lame. parties and get togethers are deffinately in order. and I'm totally up for the idea of garbing out and going to mundane places.

in the mean time, what say we turn this thread into a ....... um...... let's tell stories.

favorite feel good moment, or moments of the season.... or of your faire history.  things that gave you warm fuzzy happy feelings.

I have a list of places!
Cave of the Winds - as pirates looking for the buried treasure.
Zoo - either Denver or Cheyenne Mountain
Any of the plethora of mining museums in the hills.
Central City / Blackhawk. Gambling in Garb! Sweet!
The Renaissance Level of the Denver Art Museum. "I don't remember sitting for that!"

I've been adventuring generally on Tuesdays and Fridays if people are interested. I'm doing any touristy type thing I can drive to in less than 3 hours.
o/` I'm a little teapot...o/` No, I'm not, that would be silly. ::)

Capt Gabriela Fullpepper

Any weekday will be near impossible for Thomas and I, Fridays... well maybe dependng on what time and wear. Saturdays are always best for us and meeting say in the Denver area would be best but on occasion I'd say lets go south or way north.

And in garb would be very fun or even in Mundanes just to get together.

I think one of the best moments I've had at faire was seeing my parents in garb together for the first time.  It was really awesome seeing how much I've corrupted them shared my love of faire with them.

I had so many great moments at the Santa Fe faire last year.  There's just a different experience when you're playing than working and I know just about everyone here knows what I'm talking about.  That was the first time I'd gotten out and really played and it was a joy.  Especially handing out pirate treasure to the kids...telling them, "If the dragon tries to eat you, give him this because he likes treasure more than he likes little people."  And seeing either the looks of excitement on their faces or the look of "Mom!  You didn't tell me there was going to be a dragon!!"  Needless to say I'm really, really looking forward to getting to Santa Fe this year.  I had so much fun there.

And as for getting together, I'm down!  Of course, I'll be up in Greeley a lot over the next few months doing classes and all that fun stuff, but I'm sure I can make a weekend get-together sometime or another.

Avan

Well I have heard that someone is having a party at their house this upcoming weekend.   ;D ;D

8/29 Avan's house.

But I would also enjoy getting together through out the year.

Captain Kidd

Sorry all... real life kinda got too real for a bit and had to be sure that my dojo was set for the coming semester. As for the blackout... hmm... don't have a lot of answers... new guy and all.

Aven's party is going to be a kick, I think... so there is going to be that...

For those of you who don't know about the House Party being thrown by the Chancellor, I can get you details on that shindig... Myself and a host of others are going to go up for the ScotFest in Estes on the 11th - the 12th... and there is the impending Halloween party thrown by John.

Hope all is well, and hope to be a bit more "on" than "off" around here.

Capt Gabriela Fullpepper

The Highland fest in Estes is always fun and everyone should go. I know Toki and I will be there on Saturday. We live very close (like less than 30 miles from Estes) so this is an easy outing for us. Sadly financial funds will prevent two days again this year.

Don't think we will make Aven's party. We'd like to but we have put off camping now for 3 weeks and it's getting to a time of the year it's going to get cold at night in the high country.

We are planning on the Chancellors party but it's not 100% yet. Neither Toki or I have space costumes. Steampunk... Goth... western... YES but Space/ Nope no space costumes at our place. But it sure would be cool to have a Prawn costume :) or part of one.

Count the Baroness and I completely in favor!

Favorite moment:  M'Lady and I were engaging with a young girl of 4 or 5 who, along with her mum, became fascinated with the Baroness' court dress.  She was very polite, but very inquisitive, wanting to know about the girdle, and the fan, and the chalice, etc., etc.  As we were preparing to disengage, M'Lady asked the young girl if she had any questions, and if so, M'Lady would be happy to answer.  The little girl thought for a moment, then with a somewhat embarrassed look on her face, looked up and asked:  "Do you have feet?"

I'd thought I was going to miss the Scotch/Irish fest in Estes Park for being in Maryland, but as it turns out it's the weekend after.  So, huzzah, and maybe I will be there.  Probably Saturday.  Depends on my funds situation at that point.

holierthanthou

When I worked with Ren on the Run Productions, we hosted at least 5 events throughout the year.  They still do and have a very loyal following.  (I'd still be going if it wasn't for the 4 day drive. :P)  We were constantly looking for things to get involved in.

We do not have a production company like that here.  What we need is a core group to keep track of events and opportunities.  Anyone up for it?  ;D

One thing we need to remember though is that the HOST(s) of any event should be the one posting on the boards.  They are the only ones who will know if an event is by public invite.  This is a public forum and there are at least twice as many who read the posts, than those who post on them.  After all, sometimes hosts need to think of fire codes and capacities.

Public events we know of....

Avan's 26th Annual Birthday Party on Saturday night  :o
Longs Peak Scottish/Irish Festival at Estes Park Sept 10-13 ($20 adult)
Buccaneer Bash in Denver at Red & Jerry's on September 19th (pre-registration saves you $5! See post on the boards for more details!)

There is not enough darkness in the world to extinguish a small candle.
