Local Authors' readings on MNRF site

Meghan Brunner and Dana Baird (And maybe others) have been doing readings from their own books at the Irish Cottage. Look for the schedule is in the broadsheet under the Irish Cottage section.

Meghan has written the Faire-Folk Novels that take place at a fictional Renfaire http://www.faire-folk.com/

Dana Baird has written the Spell Keeper series. Her website says she's at the Irish Cottage Saturday from 1:00-1:30pm http://www.danambaird.com/

If these work out there may be other authors added in the future, so check them out and let the management know if you think it should continue, or be expanded.

Has anyone read any of these books? I've been thinking about buying one for some time - there are entirely too few (read: no) novels set at faires. Just curious whether anyone has read them and if so, what you thought.

I know I've mentioned it before, but MNRF has a longish history of literary connections.

The Renfair episodes in the "Sandman" comic books by Neil Gaiman were inspired by MNRF.

Sci/fi writer Stephen Brust was a long time participant at MNRF. One of his early books Cowboy Feng's Space Bar and Grill originally ruffled a few feathers because the band in it was inspired by several of the old guard musicians at MNRF.

Fantasy writer Emma Bull (wife of author Will Shetterly) was a member of the MNRF band Flash Girls. At one point here fantasy set in the Twin Cities War for the Oaks was trying to get off the ground as a move and some of the MNRF cast at the time were in the short promo they were working on.

Emma's partner in Flash Girls was Lorraine Garland who has worked as Neil Gaiman's personal assistant.

Adam Stemple used to play music at MNRF, he's the son of writer Jane Yolen, and he has at least a couple books of his own under his belt.
