MNRF's Royalty...A hearty "Huzzah".

I tried to post this on MNRF friends but apparently I am clueless in the operations of that site (not surprising considering my level of computer "expertise").

In a quarter century of attendance I have never seen a more approachable and interactive royal court.  In past years I could go a day and not see a shred of evidence we even had a royal court, not so with our new King.  The Royals are active, I can't even go to the priv without bumping into them (eyes front sire!)!  Last week I watched as our King engaged a young man with an apparent mental disability.  He asked him about the Ladies he wooed and the dragons he slayed...It was obvious he made that kids day.  He spoke at length with my wife and her friend as they admired his *cough* "assets".  They stop to talk to visitors, cast, and shop keep without reserve.  Makes it fun for all.

So anyone else notice this?

A hearty "Huzzah" to our King and his soon to be Queen (Though I will miss Antonia the painter!)!

Because it's dull you twit, it'll hurt more. Now SEW, and keep the stitches small

The Royal Court is far more "people friendly" in Minnesota. Not merely for show. Which makes for a more pleasant experience  at faire.

I have not met them myself, but have heard from others that they are very friendly and personable! :)

Good people.  definately more of a interactive court.  'One of the guys' without going too far as to become the butt of any jokes.

Still, I give the court a minor bow when they pass.  Their station deserves it.  They should never be reduced to expensively-dressed peasants.

As a pirate, I do not bow to the royalty, but as a Fest participant, yes, I think they are great. :)
Masquerading as a normal person day after day is exhausting.

I have had some fun as Lord Fondlebottom. the King makes me laugh all the time, half the time he doesn't know what to say.
I was over at Willin sole's and walked out and there he was. He proceeded to ask patrons what they thought about everyone dressing like me lol.

That was a great interaction!  the rest of the royal court had a look of terror on their faces when posed with the idea that that should be how they should dress from now on... ;D

Somehow a few years back, I became noticed by the King and since it's almost daily to be greeted (often in character).  I do that whole doff the cap, bow, etc., etc., and enjoy pestering patrons to uncover in respect for the King.  Great fun!
Everyday is a challenge and gift

The king made a surprise visit to the tights competition on Sunday.

They are fun to watch. I love watching them interact.  ;D

I noticed this also. More interacting with the crowd through out the day. My 3 year old was happy to get a nice Ren Fest coin from one of the Noble ladies with the Royal Court when leaving Sunday after close.
