Props to Bramblebush

During one of my off-shifts yesterday, I went down to Queen's to catch one of 4 Pints Shy's shows. I arrived a little early, while All the King's Men were schedule to perform.

It turns out that the patrons of that pub were enjoying a performance by None of the King's Men, which would have been followed by a performance by 0 Pints Shy (or All Pints Shy, depending on how you think of it), as neither of the scheduled bands showed up for their sets. THIS IS NOT MEANT AS A CRITICISM OF THOSE BANDS, since I do not know what the circumstances were surrounding their absence. I very much hope everyone is okay!!

Happily, the members of Bramblebush, who were scheduled to perform after 4 Pints Shy, happened by and seeing that there was no music, stepped in. They ended up playing for about 40 minutes before their scheduled set, just so that the patrons of the pub would have some entertainment. I can imagine that that must have been hard on the voices, especially Sunday afternoon of a very dusty weekend.

In addition to keeping people entertained, it also probably helped raise a few more dollars for Gillette Children's, as Queens is a Jaycees pub, and after working in a pub that is also a stage, I can attest to the fact that no entertainment=fewer sales.

So big props to Bramblebush! I know they aren't on this forum to read this, but I made sure to tip them for their "warm-up" set.  :D

(Thought about posting this to the MNRF listserv, but I didn't want to get anyone in trouble...)
Masquerading as a normal person day after day is exhausting.

Bramblebush is a great bunch of people, they played great music in fron of the coffee booth for us at Twig, and they are always fine friendly folk, with oodles of musical talent, too!

Renren pointed us this way - and since she did, it seemed more than right to give thanks where thanks are due.

As someone else has pointed out already, we're all out there to have a good time and have fun and take care of each other - oh yeah, and to entertain the masses ;). That being said, we hope that All the Kings Men and Four Pints Shy are ok.

Take care,
Liz

That's really cool to hear. It's a demanding schedule without stepping up and covering an empty slot so Huzzah to them for stepping up.  ;D
