As I'm sewing away this thought came to mind.  Who is your fuzzy/furry helper?  And no hubby don't count  ;)

I have two, Smuge and Pooh bear, my two ferrets.  Smuge inspects the treddle of usefulness, and keeps me awake by nipping/asking for attention.
Then Pooh inspects left over fabric, and paper scraps.  He plays, rolls, and digs in them to check durbility.

When we had the in laws visiting I also had Fisher as my official ironing board inspector. He made sure it was warm and soft for my use.

Who are your helpers? And how do they help ?
It is kind of strange watching your personal history become costume.

Rackham the Pirate Kitty is my helper.  He loves to help measure fabric, and keep it still while I cut it out.  He helps me thread the needles, too.

He's a big fan of when I make Faery Wings, and loves to help attach the ribbons and bits and bobs.  :)

Helping make a belted plaid:

I have 3 kitten helpers and 2 bunny helpers.

Diego is charge of the tape measure.

Thomas likes to keep me company. Merlin and the bunnies, Zoe and Cindi, like to make sure the scraps are in neat piles on the floor and that they are a comfortable bed.  :-)  Hopefully, I'll get more pictures of them helping out.  :-)

I have Cornflake and Sugar Puff, both of whom are firm supporters of sewing activities.

Cornflake likes to ensure that the customer's fabric has the proper quotient
of cat fluff embedded at the cutting stages:

He also likes to ensure I put quilt bindings on properly...

And that I make trousers properly, having ensured that the pattern is correct!

Sugar Puff likes to make sure the foot pedal of the machine stays where I can reach it:

She also likes to keep an eye on project progress, pins notwithstanding!

Isis, my pretty black kitty (who I sadly do not have a picture of) LOVES to help me sew!

She helps me mark/modify patterns, holds the fabric when I cut it (occasionaly likes to help me cut it as well), keeps track of the pin cusion, and makes sure the thread is moving through my sewing maching properly.  Sometimes she gets a bit overzealous with the last duty, though, and ends up breaking the thread.

Your kitties are all presh, but I'm allergic so I've got this old brown thing who likes to take naps on whatever fabric I happen to be working on.

As you guys know all too well- sometimes the yardages get so crazy that the best option is to just camp out on the living room floor... well, Tess is loyally there (granted, she's 12, so there's not much else she does than sleep)
Margraffin Katya Ghuttzout- Vulgarian overlady
Balquis al-Quasim- Turkish assassin
& the lazy college student Jeni

AnyuBoo

My two mutts sometimes "help".

Spektre likes to help keep the floor warm for my feet...of course, I can't quite do anything then, as he takes up most of the available space...

(For size ref...those floor tiles he's lying on are 12")

Brandy is usually more aloof, but she decided to help out with my measuring tape once...
When everything seems to be coming your way...
...you're in the wrong lane!

Dayna

I have Nixie who guards the cart during fabric shopping trips, and Gremlin who is the selecter of fabric.  She is a velvet whore, and will instinctively head straight for the exact bolt you need, even if it is buried under a bunch of other fabric.

I have Taz, finder of lost pattern pieces. The only problem is he finds them with his teeth and he's a little drooly. He also protects my fabric, because without him sleeping on it while I'm trying to cut it out, I'm sure it would float away.

LadyStitch

I finally got some pictures of my helpers.  The first one is of my iron cords supervisor, Pooh.  He makes sure it is stays on my ironing board.  The other is of Smuge she supervises the paper scaps, and fabric that has fallen on the floor.  She loves the sewing machine, since she is deaf, she like the vibrations.

Despite a menagerie of four indoor felines, one outdoor feline, and hermit crabs, only one has taken it upon himself to devote the countless hours of time necessary to be Chief Sewing Assistant.

Meet D'artangan, better known as Darcy. His duties include checking the fabric for quality/softness by walking on it, subduing pattern pieces by sitting on them, being a fuzzy iron by laying on fabric, being my very own heavy duty pattern weight, and making sure that the fabric I'm currently sewing will not attack my by launching a pre-emptive strike upon it. Not to mention providing stress relief by bringing over toys to play fetch with.

Did I mention that he does all of this for scratches on the head and lap time?

Pascal

I have four personal assistants -- Pooh, Donovan, Taffy, and Linux.  They're three Persians and Himmy and come in Black, Red/White, Cream, and Grey.  They help me find fabric by always sleeping on the piece that most contrasts with their fur color -- ie, black-fur Pooh won't be caught dead on a dark piece, but instead occupies the white fabric.

When they're not absorbed by keeping fabric from walking away, they steadfastly protect me from attacks by spools of thread.  They do this by soundly boxing them around the room -- after knocking them off the sewing machine, of course.

Alas, my two cattle dogs and the Catahoula think that sewing is a really boring stupid waste of time, as it involves nothing that needs to be herded.  So they sit across the room and give me dirty looks instead.  Occasionally, if an errant spool o' thread tries to escape, one might deign to give chase, till it's immobilized.

They also are not a big fan of the dress dummy ??? I think they want to know what I did with her head...

Lauren

Hoowil

two cattle dogs and a catahoula? And I thought I had it ruff with one cattle dog and a catahoula. Mine are part of the reason a dress form is out of the question. The catahoula is suspicious of, and barks/growla at new furniture. Don't really want to see what she'd think of person shaped furniture.

Poor dear has to be locked outside whenever the sewing machine is going, or she sits and bays at it.

The embedder of all things cat hair:

Hmm... no easily available pics of the healer, or the other four cats. Will have to update later.
Do not meddle in the affairs of dragons, for thou art crunchy and taste good with catsup.

Pinn

My fuzzy helpers like to scatter their food all over my cutting table so that I have to brush it all off before I can start any work thus ensusing a chase, a tortishell calico( Patience, because she has none) and a Maine Coon mix (Mackthecat) and then after starting work they must make sure all the neccesary are in place i.e. pin cushion, scissors, pattern. All must be investigated. Then after sewing machine is going they must make sure that the thread is not tangled in anyway as it is moving through the machine and the table is producing the correct vibrations. Then my minpin, Zeus must make sure that my chair doesn't suddenly move out from underneath me.
