Chapter 4:  Brawl

If you choose to remain behind on Neptune's Daughter you discover there is no shortage of work to be done.  You are able to labor at a leisurely pace and manage to heal a wound while moderating rest with work.  If you are not wounded you do not heal.  However you do loose -2 points to your Pirate Code score for not joining in on the carousing.

If you choose to head out for the Three Turns Tavern you notice Gilbert speaking with an English buccaneer named Robert Town.  Robert is rumored to be a friend of the late Christopher Myngs, the man responsible for the defense of Port Royal.  Unfortunately in taking time to watch the encounter between Gilbert Lanoue and Robert Town you have lost sight of your shipmates!

If you have the Streetwise skill at the Exceptional or Master level you can quickly find your way to the Three Turns  tavern and avoid beggars, pickpockets, merchants selling items you neither need nor want, thugs who want to break your legs and take your coins and street corner prophets who preach the end of days.  You arrive at the Three Turns Tavern and get the first choice of a lovely companion for tonight's bacchanalia!  You get +3 to your Pirate Code score for conquering such a paramour!

If you do not have Streetwise at the Exceptional or Master level you can find the Three Turns Tavern but only after stumbling across a group of eight buccaneers who have opened a cask of wine and are making all who pass drink with them!  These lads don't take 'no' for an answer.  If you have Drinking at the Exceptional level you can imbibe with these jolly rogues and leave after an hour feeling slightly drunk (+1 point to your Pirate Code score).  You arrive at the tavern late and get a rather greasy looking companion for the night but it's better than nothing.  If you have Drinking at the Master level you drink them all under the table (+7 points to your Pirate Code score)!  You arrive at the tavern late and get a toothless companion for the night but it's better than nothing. If you don't have the Drinking skill at either the Exceptional or Master level you can still hold your own but arrive late to the Three Turns and need to buy Adam and Gallant a round (which costs you 1 silver coin).  You also miss out on finding a desirable companion for the night.  Should you have taken Drinking as your weakness you awake the next day, naked, on the docks.  All your clothes and equipment has been stolen.  Adam gives you a pair of slops and Mister Gallant makes you a vest of sail cloth.  You are armed with only a belaying pin and everyone calls you "Feather Weight" (-5 to your Pirate Code score).  You have no memory of the previous evening (but read bellow to see what you encountered!).

---

While enjoying the cheap drink and music at the Three Turns you observe a rather odd looking new comer enter the establishment with a handful of followers.  This man appears to be a puritan by his drab parliamentarian clothing and square cut hair.  A rather unpopular fashion choice since the restoration of 1660.  His face is a cold emotionless visage under a wide brimmed hat.  There is darkness about this man mixed with an arrogance you can almost touch!  Neither he, nor any of his fellows touches either drink or wench as they meander about the tavern.  The man whispers over to one of his followers who is enjoying a clay pipe of tobacco.  The man nods his head and then moves up to your friend Adam Cotton and dumps the pipes hot ash down the back of his neck!  Adam rises to his feat and slams a meaty fist into the smoker.  Before you know it your crew has jumped in and full fledged tavern brawl is roaring!  Do you jump in the brawl or keep out of the fight?  If you fight what weapons do you use?  Do you enter the combat with firearm, blade, miscellaneous weapon or just use your fists?

Hey, I am wearing my new red dress from Frederic of Hansa's.
There is no WAY I am going to chance it getting ruined!

So...I take my drink quietly and sit on the window ledge and watch the boys playing tough guy.

If one comes too close to me, I can always bonk him on the head with my mug or discreetly slam my foot down on his iinstep. Perforated by stilettos.

As far as companionship...I've got cramps.  :-\
Yeah, that's it. I have cramps! Now shoo! Shoo!
I'm saving myself for someone with his own teeth.
Show me your tan lines..and I'll show you mine!

Lady Renee Buchanan

No "greasy" for me, thank you very much.  I'll find my own companion to my liking.

And I'd jump up next to Wenchie and watch.  I don't like blood on my clothes or body.  If needed, I'd send the parrot out to bite their noses.  In dire emergency, I might throw my drink into somebody's face and blind them.  Have to be an emergency, though.  Hate to waste a perfectly good mudslide.

I stay out of the fight.  I'd rather stay over here by the window and chat up the lovely ladies.  ;D

Well, despite my hangover from drinking with the rogues, I'm certainly not going to leave my dear friend Adam to fight on his own! I'll fight with my blade.

Even though I didn't put it as a weakness, after drinking that much, I don't think I want a companion, anyway.
Masquerading as a normal person day after day is exhausting.

Wenchie's my homegirl, and I'm a Vegetarian. So unless those munchies include a chocolate bar or a tub of hummus, looks like I'll be a starvin marvin.
