Hey- Arent You?

more: Portfolio is key if you are auditioning the dragon.  send photos.  Jim Loves Photos.  as the dragon could be kinda "scary" be be prepaired to show how you can be kid friendly, and show photos of you interacting with non-scared kids.  they used to have  a gargoyle body puppet that they loved, but someone stole the costume years ago.  I think you would have a good shot.  it's big bright and colorful, everything they want.

And Demetrius!  Demetrius works in food, how could I ever forget?  (It's what I get for posting at 7am...)  Although, to my credit, he wouldn't admit it even if he did....right, Hamster King?...

Zoe works in drink, remember... I'll admit that. I thought Jim Morrison was the hamster king, right, Hamster goddess?

My only experience is on the frone gate,  Which also includes carding at the pub.  And draging dead bodys off the joust field.  And chasing cars out of teh pedestrian ways.  and moving random props up hill very quickly.  and last minuite parade runs, holding a dung scoop or sausage.  and hawking the misting area behind the fairy house.
But at the front gate you are the first impression at faire, and the first direction giver so make your jokes quick and memorable and be sure to konw where everything is and when they perform.  as Zoe said cobble stone standing for many many many hours is required, have foot coverings apropriate for it, and it is always very busy, except for when its completely dead.

Make sure that the dragon is durable.  Kids are tough on things even when they don't try.  Our current puppeteer has issues with being stabbed in the knees by over eager mini-knights and warrior princesses.

If you want to try for cast, have a character with history, well developed.  It helps.  You will also need to stand on your own two feet when quizzed by nobility.  Cast is busy and rarely gets downtime.  It takes a brave soul to be on cast, but if you have the gumption... go for it.

There are also many booths that will be hiring.  These vary in how much you will need to do and how you can interact with customers per booth.

On all of the jobs... you need to be able to stand for long periods... unless you are playing a harp, reading palms or something that requires sitting.

Good luck in your search.  We are always glad to see new and old faces.

Oh definitely! I've been beaten with swords, stabbed, and had everything pulled or hit at least once. The only reason I win in becaseu I have the bigger stick.  ;D
So far I've been told that right now there isn't room in the budget for me because they're bringing back the unicorn, but I was told to try again later after Mr. Spreen has had time to think about it in May.
Soooooo... I'm pretty sure that I get to be a playtron this year. Oh well, I still get to go and enjoy the faire! Thanks for all of the comments- I'm sure that they'll all be useful when I try again next year.

*headddesk* Mrs. Spreen. Totally what I was going for. That will teach me to post before going to early classes and I've turned my brain back on.
