But it is also Mayday and I believe the Court will dance the "Velvet Maypole".

Thanks!  I'll be drumming for the Stardancers 5 shows on Sat, so I may come and watch after our 2:00 show.

They did the Velvet Maypole the last time MayDay was on a faire day, and there was a rumour that it was happening again this year.  I still haven't been able to confirm or deny it, though.  (However, to be honest, I haven't asked around too much as of yet.)  I'll try to check about and see if I can get confirmation on it for folks.

This will be the first weekend this year that we get to relax and stroll the Faire at our own pace. 

Much as I loved RenDevous, it was some exercise.

Traditionally, when the actual May Day fallas on a Faire day, rather than having the peasants perform the maypole dance, Their Majesties and the members of the Court perform the maypole dance.
The 'velvet' refers to velvet court garb.
