He has not been ridden for about five years cause he had a nerve disorder  that affected his  back.
He gets hand walked every day. Yesterday  we gave him a treat and let him, and  my mare  run around  together  for  a few  minutes in the  snow.

That's too bad ... I'll bet he misses it, but I understand about the body just not able when the mind is willing.
Keep up the hand walking.  (I know you will, just cheering you on!)  :)
More prayers for healing and perseverence coming your way!

Well up tell this  weekend  I  would  say he  was  aabout 8o%  healed. He  still had a few  small wounds  that were still mushy.

The biggest concern was  that he  was getting agitated  being in his  stall  all  the  time and   refusing to eat lately ,  and  dropping weight  like  crazy , despite  evrything we  were giving him to keep  the  weight on him.   So my husband  was  concerned about him not eating,  and  decided  to  be  nice  to him and  let him  go  loose  for  abit outside in his  corral.  Tempus seemed  to be  behaving himself. he  was running aound in the  snow  enjoying himself,  so my husband  left him unattended  in his  corral and  went  to clean his  stall.

Well Tempus, that  trouble  maker, either he  had a itch or  something,  found  something to  rub his  face on   and reopend a  couple of  wounds.    They are not as bad  as  when  it  first happen  months ago, but  it looks like  he  will be  tied  up a for  a few  more weeks, until   the  wounds  are COMPLETELY HEALED  ,  this  time.  ::)

Sorry about the setback, but glad to hear he is continuing to heal.  It amazes me that they will scratch open a wound, but that is animals for you.

Prayers continue, and do keep us posted.

He is healing . :)  His wounds are all scabbed over.   We let him out last night for a few minutes to romp around in the snow  with his sister and he seemed  to enjoy that. Then we put him back in his stall, and cross tied him  back up, cause we don't want him knocking the scabs off like he has done before, cause we love him dearly, but my husband is getting tired of hand feeding him and hand walking him, evry few hours.

Thanks Lord W.

Yes, unfortunately he  was just about healed, and he went  and  tore open his  wounds .  They are pretty infected.    He looks terrible.    My poor husband is  starting to feel fustrated, cause   it just seems  to be one  endless cycle.   Every time   Tempus starts  to heal,  despite  every precautionary measure  we take, and  every medicine   we use, and every anti itch product, etc...  the  horse  finds  a way  to reopen his  wounds.

I had a couple   friends, including friends  who are horse  owners  tell me  Tempus  can't go on like  this  and that maybe  we  should  put  him down. I have been there before with a horse  my family use  to have  and  really don't want  to  go  that  route  again. It has  to be  my husband Tim 's  decision  to what he    to do.    Tempus  belongs  to him.  (  The  mare  belongs  to me.  )

Tempus has been a good horse.  I hate  to see him suffer.  I know  my  mare will miss him if  anything happens  to him.   She  was just a baby when i got her, and we already had Tempus.   Tempus  was like her big protective  older brother.

So if  anything I  would  ask  that you pray that  Tim  makes  the  right decision on what to do with Tempus.

Amy, do you have an update on Tempus? We haven't heard anything about him in awhile.

Lady Amy of York

Tempus is still around. We came very close back in March to putting him down, after the dear, sweet, darn horse ( he  always  was  a trouble  maker ) went and rubbed open quite a few of his wounds causing  some of  them to get infected.  But he has been part of  the family  for  so long, we decided  to give him one  more  chance.
So needless to say we were  back  to square one again, and he went back  to being tied up in his  stall  when we cant keep an eye on him. We only let him out into his corral when we are around  to watch  him. H e is not too crazy  about that and lets us know by  kicking his  stall door  at night.  I swear, he knows  that the barn is within 20 feet of our bedroom window  and  does it on purpose  to get even with us !
He is about 90 percent healed down.  He will always have scars and a great big bump on his  forehead. Now w e just nedd to put weight back on him. he is very skinny.
Sorry i did not update sooner.  So far he is hanging in there.
