I saw a reference to Ole King Cole somewhere here and it made me think of things past.  So in honor of the impending opening, tell what you remember from Scarborough which is no longer around.

I remember the Hobbit Holes that were over close to where the maze is now.  I guess they had to close them because they flooded so easily.  Still it was always cool inside, even on the hotest day.

i was the the one who referenced Ole King Cole... his name was L.T. Felty, the superintendant of waxahachie schools... I went to school with 2 of his grandsons... there are some great old pic's on Moondawg's website http://www.pygmypony.net/Scarby85Plus/index.htm

the hobbit holes were cool, but i'm sure rattlesnakes loved them too... best memories were "skinny dippin" in the creek behind the back camping area

i don't really remember it being HOT back then... maybe it's just because i was a teenager HAHA!... seemed more of a "70's hippy" atmosphere back then... i miss that

Do you mean lady Dra herself would not be at Scarby or that the house of Dra shop it's self would not be?  I swear I saw her shop that is a co-op with another vendor there and ready for the Faire just yesterday.

Maybe they renegotiated a new lease or something or it is a co-op thing,  but she told me she would not be there anymore because the lease rate went up. Guess we need to swing by there and find out ourselves.

Lemme dust off those braincells.... I remember the hobbit holes, and how the area behind the tower of Yorkshire dungeon was open, I really miss that area (and the shortcut down to that end of faire). I also remember the old chess field that was in that area. I also can recall when you could see Don Juan and Miguels stage from the front gate and the sheep hearding demos that they had in that medow. Anyone remember when the lanes were paved with crushed lava rocks and not so mushy when it rained? I also remember the joust was (or at least looked) way less rehearsed and the knights jousted compeditively. How bout the little bridge that was where the Ivanho stage is now and the rock shop (?) that was where the Scot store is now? There used to be a pirate ship behind the kings pub where they sung sea shantees (thats where i learned my pirate ABC's LOL). Remember when you could pay a dollar to throw wet soapy sponges at  your friends while they were in the stocks?

Edit:  There are some really good shots of cast members and other entertainers from 15 years ago, including several of Jeff "Mayhem" Thompson (RIP).

I remember when hardly anyone knew about the paths that went down into the creek. It was a nice shady place to get away from the crowds.

Not so long ago, the Boarshead Tavern was round.  It was drawn on the maps for several years as a frothy mug of ale!

Archangel Crossing was my favorite about 20 years ago or so, back when the White Horse Tavern wasn't.  It was always cool and peaceful down at the bottom by the stream as long as you were wary of the poison ivy.  At times it seemed that no one else was around.  I would wander down the path to the stream after visiting Jacob Rothschild's grave.  Then up the other side to head for the Fat Friar's.  I haven't been there since the White Horse was redone.  StudMuffun can't handle the trail and I am getting too old.  Ahhh, the good old days.

Ahh, the Catherine!  Many a Pirate song was sung on that wreck.  I LOVED the look of that stage!
