MNRF 40th Anniversay

Sounds like they're going to be trying to push the 40th Anniversary big in the promotions this year.

This was just sent to the participants-only E-list

We are looking to promote you and need your help! We are currently writing press releases and working with local magazines and newspapers and we want to share some of your information in conjunction with the 40th Anniversary!

Can you send us:

* Any press releases you have on your business or products (past news stories)
* Any pictures of your products
* Have you received an award for something you have created?
* What's new? Any cool new products?
* If you have been here for 30 + years would really want to hear from you!

There was a questionnaire sent out the by the Crafts Department last week, if everyone can fill that out and send it back, it would be really helpful for the Marketing Department. We are looking to create relationships with the Artisan community to work together on advertising!

Give us any information you have, and we will see how we can use it!

Well MAF is hardly known for advance planning as evidenced by the unfinished food booths last year... At least they're playing up the anniversary be interesting to see what they do.

Hey, they announced this in June...this IS considered advanced planning for MAF...

They knew which booths needed to be fixed or rebuilt before festival started in 2009, but they didn't notify anyone until this spring.

That's a milestone for sure!!!

My first date with the Earl was at the Northern California Pleasure faire in September of 1971. That Faire was celebrating it's 5th year in 1971.

We are now what you call, "die-hard rennies".

Lady Kathleen!  The little girl who was so in love with the Earl at Chippewa Falls- I saw her this weekend at the Waterpark of America in Bloomington!

I forgot my iPod so I was brainstorming during a boring day at the part time job, so I sent an idea to the MAF marketing people:

I was wondering has anyone checked if the park still exists where the Renfest was held for the first couple years? If it hasn't been turned into a housing development it might be fun to hold some sort of promotional event there celebrating the 40th anniversary.

Traffic probably wouldn't allow it but if horses and carriages were available I could see the court making a "Royal Progress" from the original site to the current location the week before opening.

I believe that my parents (who spend Summers near Clearwater, MN) and I will be at MNRF on the Saturday of Labor Day Weekend, when I'm on vacation and visiting them this Summer.  Looking forward to meeting some of y'all, and seeing any of the 40th Anniversary special events.  The last time I visited MNRF was in '96 or '97.
