I see the King and Elizabeth are getting wed at faire?

Can I pray to get the real details?

Last season we didn't have a queen since Lolly Foy stepped away from the role to concentrate on completing her Masters Degree. Rather than replace Lolly right away as queen they decided to have "Lady Elizabeth" portray the king's betrothed last season with the plan for their characters to wed this season.

As far as I know we've never had a Royal Wedding as part of the show (in spite of the large number of actresses who have portrayed queen over the years) so I assume they decided to do it up big as part of the 40th anniversary of the show.

(Johnny Behr who plays the king is married in real life to someone who does not participate at fest.)

Gotta remember MNRF is not officially England, so he's not Henry VIII  ;D
It's just an England-like fictional kingdom

And that's where MNRF can be a bit of an odd duck.  Well, one of many ways.  Where BARF has Henry VIII and Catherine Parr, TNRF has Elizabeth the 1st, we got Hank and Liz from down the block popping round for a visit.   ;D

I remember having a program many years ago that stated that Behr's king was Henry VI and with Lolly as Margaret.  Even THAT didn't work out historically!  I like our fantasized kindgdom but it must be rather confusing for many others!  I enjoy the future queen Lady Elizabeth but I miss Antonia the paintress- she was a riot.

Yup, in discussing it on the MRF Elist periodically over the years it appears a number of the cast seem to be dead against being anything approaching a reenactment -even if it's just a fictional version of Henry's or Elizabeth's court.

Even suggesting something as loose as "what if we decide on something roughly in the 1580's-'90's as a guideline for purposes of plot and costuming preferences" gets responses like "oh that would be too restricting..."

I think the cast is a lot more talented and flexible than they think. I wonder if it is partially a greater reliance on and a tradition of improv over scripted pieces that forms some of the theatrical leanings at MNRF

I don't remember them ever specifying which Henry, but yes Lolly was "Queen Margaret"

Well that would clearly explain why when I asked via Facebook what years we were supposed to be representing I was answered "16th century."  Um, yeah, thanks for being specific...  =P

Look at it this way... lots of breathing room for your character.   :D

So, the king's gonna have a new bride... Come on lads, who's gonna keep the gaming hall girls off the streets during the "honeymoon"?
