Alright folks,

Your Monk missed the final gate confrontation of Fitzroy and Edward.

How was it?

Those who were there, Edward and Fitz need feedback on it (Keep in mind it was planned Choreographed and executed in a day.)

Have at it.

Tanda

I really liked it and I hope it does mean changes in Edward for years to come.
My critique would be that it lasted about a minute too long. Like many good skits.
I do like that you brought the queen and princess into it in their own way.
o/` I'm a little teapot...o/` No, I'm not, that would be silly. ::)

Rubiee

LOVED IT! Loved the fight itself and the words exchanged and I really really like the promise of changes in the characters as well. It was a hook to bring people back next year, in my opinion.

So to Fitz and Edward both: Bravo!

Alright, so here is what I heard happened.

Henry Fitzroy came with his entourage in tow to the front gate at closing. He had been called to the kingdom to come and observe Prince Edward. Fitzroy for a long time had been agonizing over the fact that "Skippy" had been making a mockery of the crown, and decided it is time for Edward to grow up.

At closing gate after a rousing round of "Skippy Time" Henry confronted Edward.

Banter ensued and Fitz insulted the queen.

Edward slapped Fitz with his gauntlet and called him out.

Duel began between Edward and Fitz. Edward was disarmed and Fitz layed into Edward.

"You have been given a chance at greatness and you are throwing it away. You have been given nobility by birthright and you make a mockery of it. The ladies should want to be with you Edward, the men should want to BE you Edward, but you prance about like a ninny. I came here to offer you a chance at greatness, a chance to take hold of the crown and wear it proudly, to honor the great lineage that came before you, to give the people a prince they can respect and honor and love. But alas I can see you are unequal to the task."

Fitz hands Edward his sword and turns around.

"But now, your sister . . . . she is worthy, and she is most definitely ready to take hold of the crown."

Fitz walks over and takes Elizabeth's hand and kisses it as Edward shouts.

"You will not touch her Fitzroy!"

"Not with my hands." Fitzroy smiles

Edward shouts out Fitz's name and attacks witha flury worthy of any epic battle in any film or stage play that ever was. Fitz is disarmed and then pommel checked in the stomach, and tripped with Edward standing over him (Fitz is lying on the ground) with the sword at his throat.

"Honor dictates that I should Kill you right now!" Edward says . . . (Crowd goes wild)

"But my honor as a man dictates that it is better I let you live." (crowd goes wilder)

Fitz is allowed to stand, laughing.

"Edward," He says, "Perhaps I was wrong about you . . . . perhaps you do have what it takes. My offer still stands, come brother, join me and I will teach you all that I know."

The two clasp arms and embrace, and the crowd cheers.

The king madates that perhaps Fitz will return as Edward's tutor next year.

That sounds really excellent, nice dialogue.  Would have liked to see that.

From my vantage on the parapet, it was as fine a bit of street theater as I've seen.  The acting was entirely believable and in-character for both Skippy and Fitzroy.  Both did an excellent job of pitching their voices to be heard by all present.  All an all, a superb segue to a more mature, more royal Prince Edward in seasons to come.

Alas, I saw no movie cameras in evidence.

I agree with Tanda it was a teeensy bit too long, but I think that can be tributed to the fact it was, as you say choreographed and practiced THAT day. A lot of the same phrases kept being repeated. But all in all I thought it was fantastic! It actually sparked a little (real) pride in me for Skippy :D
How do I know I haven't missed it?!...what if it WAS the chicken!
