Wow, they'd end the tradition of the bakery stage?  That's just sad...

I did not know that there was a sports bar at Fest.  Been working there since 1996.  That the Bakery Stage would eventually come to an end does not surprise me.  The faire has been moving from authentic to Disney at an ever increasing rate over the last few years.  Well, that and 'western.'

Well Yee-Haw!!  Lem'me grag my boots & spurs!

Over the years (which are very few in comparison to some) that I have worked at festival, there have been quite a few changes.  It seems to be the general rule of thumb.  There are things that I will unfortunately never see (The BLT, The Irish Cottage - Backery Stage cook-off/food fight . . . etc), and there are things that I have seen that I won't again (The Bear, the former SS directors in their super-hero costumes on duty, the Old Irish Cottage crew, the old SS crew . . . etc.)

Things come and go.  I am blessed, in my own opinion, to be a member of a 20+ year group out at festival.  I've heard a good amount of different "traditions" that have come and gone among the group.  But as the director of the group tells us, "It is ours to do what we want with it".

Yeah in the last 2-3 years I heard they had the game on in the old Scriptorium space when the Vikings were playing.

If that is the bar by the water wheel, they have a TV that they hide when the game is not on...
BLOODY HELL!!!!

Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor?

Yup that's it. They used to have calligraphy demos and classes there so it was the "scriptorium" until a few years ago.

Puke 'n Snot - Their website shows MNRF on the Schedule page, but on the "About" page, it says that they are only doing Maryland & Colorado.  Have also heard from several sources verbally that they are not returning.

The Baroness and I spoke with Thomas Snot Jr. himself yesterday during the final day of the Colorado Festival, and he assured us that P&S would be appearing at Minnesota this season.

We will look forward to seeing them when we attend Labor Day weekend with Lord Gauwyn and clan.

Lovely. :) I'd have been surprised if they did other faires but not MN, given that MN is their home faire...
Masquerading as a normal person day after day is exhausting.

There was a year when Puke&Snot were NOT at the MNRF! It was not the same and people who are fans. complained loudly.

Is the grove still there?

If by the grove you mean the area of oak trees to the west of the main gate, yes, but I think they may be moving the jousters camp and paddock there so there may not be as much shaded parking available there as there used be. Years ago, before we owned a booth, we used to try to park there if we arrived early enough. The excavations have all been on the east side of the site.

There were some horse trailiers there last year - probably the jousters.  It is a nice place to park as it does offer some shade in the afternoon.
