As long as it isn't raining in Shakopee next Saturday (forecast is Partly Sunny & mid-70's), my parents and I should be driving down from Clear Lake to spend the day at the MN Ren Fest.  Google Maps says it's 75 miles (1-1/2 hours), so I don't think we'll arrive any earlier than about 9:30am.

There doesn't appear to be an online map of the Ren Fest grounds.  So please describe how to get from the Front Gate to a suggested meeting area, and we'll know which way to head while getting familiar with the map in the Program Guide.

Due to only taking one small carry-on bag for my trip to MN, I won't be packing a costume, but I will bring a Ren hat (so I don't have the wear a ball-cap to keep from sunburning).  I'm planning to be wearing the shirt in this photo, and the hat in this photo.  This hat is the one piece of my costuming that was actually purchased at the MN Ren Fest, back in '96 or '97.  I wore this hat to Ren Faires for several years before buying some fancier hats with feathers (see my profile picture, for example) from Lady Dra at Scarborough Faire. The label in the MN hat says,
"Camille ...made with loving care
Manhattan Beach, Minnesota"

Take Care,
David Baldock

EDIT:  Determined that it was actually 1996 when I last visited the MN Ren Fest.

Directions to FOAMING STEIN from the front gate:

Go straight in the gates towards the 2 story bldg in the distance.  This is Bad Manor.  You will see a very "wild west" looking (because of the shape of the roof lines  ::)) eating area to your left and the "information" hut to your right.  You will also see an ATM just on the right corner of Bad Manor.

OK, now that you have reached Bad Manor, hug the RIGHT side of this building.  (DO NOT go far to the right, that takes you to the perimeter.) You will see Privies on the left and the Chess Booth on  your right.  Follow this path down about 100 yards and Foaming Stein will be on your left.  There is a large oak tree right in the middle of the path in front of it and most likely a man standing on a bench encouraging you to drink beer.  Hard to miss.

If you get down to the booth with the beautiful, bright flags, you've gone too far.  Turn around, stop next to that booth and say hello to MacGregor Games, Groomporter and folks, then make your way back to Foaming.  We'll be waiting to mock you for having missed the huge tree.  ;D ;)
Nothing clever to say here.  Not enough caffine yet.

We will be there on 4 September with our Granddaughter for the day.

Thanks for the directions.  The link to the map (PDF) on the faire web site was pointed out to me by Lady Kett (Thanks!), and I was wondering if the Booth Number for the FOAMING STEIN is in the upper 600's?

It is real close to where the number 6 is on the map - you won't have any trouble finding it

YAAAAAYYYYYY! MG and VV on Saturday! We have court dance at 10am but Rob and I try to run over to Foaming right afterwards.
Masquerading as a normal person day after day is exhausting.

Just an FYI.. your normal Foaming Stein Crew will be sparse this weekend.. Sitara is off on Saturday, as are Stacy and Liz (not R/F'ers, but most of you know them)

So that will leave Me, Toar and Jason (not an R/F'er) not sure who else will be at the pub, I am guessing we will have vistors from other chapters?  ::)

I will be there from 9-10, and then again at noon with Toar to start our normal shifts..

*Cheers*

My plans have been changed for me, I don't get to come out to Fest on Saturday- now I have to wait until Sunday.  I'll just have to get my MG fix at a later date, I guess!  =(  But hey, at least I FINALLY get to get out to Fest!  =)

For anyone that wants to find me this weekend, I'll be working at Badger Blades, which is just a few strides down from the Bare Stage.  Hoping I'll be participating in the longbow competition as well on Saturday and possibly on Monday.
