Oh, and any fool can unlace a corset... but it takes a deal of finesse to understand and appreciate the subtleties of anticipation that are involved in the lacing process, and the occasional knowing smile and gentle tug of strings throughout the day that tell a woman you plan to pay just as much attention when you're helping her out of it as into it can set the tone for an entire day of play that is no less breathtaking for being carried out in full view of everyone in the lanes, with none but those involved being any the wiser . . .

So, best to keep all that in mind the next time a lady asks you to pull her laces.

I remember the first time I took the now wife to Faire. In Maryland we took her to look for her first garb and she went with a quaint lace front bodice/corset. She tried it on...and then the shop mom came over...No, no, that's too big for you, here try this on.

*Proceeds to lace up wife...wife's eyes bulge...breathing stops...laughter commences from the peanut gallery*

Shop Mom-There, now you have tracks of land that will make every man jealous of your man.

...Wenches are a bigger thing on the East Coast what can I say.

Breandan, you cut a lady's laces and you'd better not only have two extra sets in your pouch to gift her with, but you'd better make certain you understand exactly how to lace the d@mned thing back up again for when she wants to wear it next!!!  You may think your charms are enough to make her forget about the laces, but damaging a lady's treasured garb can land you in hot water quicker than many things most people would consider far greater transgressions... particularly if said lady has hours of her own work involved in the making!  

Besides, being quick isn't really something most men want to be known for... and there's frequently a great deal to be said for taking lots of time and lingering over the little details.
