Lady Kathleen of Olmsted

Any word as to when it comes out in DVD??? That one as well as 'ECLIPSE'.

I have quite the Russell Crowe library.

Saw it on the rack at Mall Wart. Just under $20. Blu ray about $10 higher.
My intentions are to commandeer a venue, sail to Tortuga, then pick, strum and otherwise play me weasily black guts out.

Well folks I rented this the other night and I have to admit I was a bit underwhelmed.  O.K. I admit that the H.C. aspect was something that I did not look for and never do, but Robin Longstride, give me a break, at least if your not going to be H.A. at least stick to the legend.  I think Ridley took a little to much poetic licsence in this one.  I've seen it and doubt I would add it to my collection.

If I can get it cheap, liek $5 and Wal-Mart does sell them that cheap after a couple years then I'll buy it. But, all in all a good film to watch once or twice, but not over and over.

I will watch this one over and over, like I do 'KING ARTHUR' with Clive Owen.

The "story behind the legend" angle always has fascinated me.

So what if Ridley Scott took a little license with this film. It added to the backdrop, which made the film work. This was the film I tried to get on as a sewer of some of the costumes, but was rejected. That in part because I did not do enough Theater or small film work.

I really enjoyed it and could watch it again.

Lord Clisto of York

Personally I was skeptical at first, but after watching it and how it came about I loved it. It is also the first time I believe the Magna Carta was even referenced in. I liked the origins of the characters from that perspective. That's what is different from all the other ones ever made. Ridley Scott is great at what he does and of couse some hollywood needs to be introduced. This is just like the Roman King Arthur movie which came out some years back. It puts some different perspective on things which may or may not be true.  Also, if people liked Kingdom of Heaven, which I did, that also had many things which were not accurate as well, but still gave a feel in different directions. many remakes have to "shake things up" as it were. All in all, I have it in my collection and have watched it twice so far. Very good movie in way of presentation.

I agree with all the non-historical features, and Robin Hood was a good film. But, it ended too abruptly, I was looking for the legends of old when they would ambush people in the woods, and that wasn't found in this film. I'm waiting on a sequel. Kingdom of Heaven and King Arthur with Clive Owen, I will have to say are better films than Robin Hood.

Lord Clisto of York

There is talk of a sequel where this all will go into that. This was just suppose to be the building block for what we all know of Robinhood, which makes a lot of sense. i just hope it happens, which one never knows with hollywood. But I do agree that KOH and the New Arthur are better. Even the foreign film "Arn the knight Templar" which was out 3 years ago was as good as KOH.

There was a Robin Hood made with Uma Thurman as maid marian and the leading man I couldn't remember because he wasnt' a big name, and I don't think made any more movies, but that film was quite true to the old legend and referenced alot of the laws going on at that time and who and what was conquering the English. So in all evry Robin Hood film brings some more excitement albeit may not by historically accurate at times, it's still pretty cool.

BLAKDUKE

The name of the leading man was Patrick Bergen.  It was a made for TV movie and was passable.

Thank you, Now I'll know when I go to purchase a copy. I found it very passable. One of my favorite scenes was Friar Tuck trying to pass off chicken bones as saint's bones, which was quite common then.

Ok. I finally watched it, the director's cut. I was expecting it to be painfully bad. But other than 3 uh-oh moments, it was actually pretty good. I liked the ship with sweeps going up to the palace docks in London.
