We just had a freakin' EARTHQUAKE!!!  4.3 is what they're saying now, and it was felt all over the state...

My friends in Arkansas have been reporting small Earthquakes for the last week or two.

Maybe the next really big Mid-plate quake is about to let loose.   :o

Mid-plate quake don't happen very often, but when they do, look out!  See: Wikipedia - 1812 New Madrid Earthquake

That's the quake that dropped the Mississippi 10' on one side, i think.

Well, I'm only 5 blocks from my daughter's school, and now I'm afraid to leave the freakin' house in case we have an aftershock and I need to get to her really fast... so it's not all that much fun.  :-\

I was up in Springfield IL many years ago, and everyone there is really proud of the New Madrid fault line for some weird reason.  It's the biggest fault on the continent, I guess, and when it goes there's gonna be a massive geographic restructuring right down the middle of the country.  Remember the satellite views of the flooding of the Miss. river basin in '93?  It looked like the Gulf of Mexico just... expanded.  It could look like that permanently if that fault separates.  Or... we could have a brand new mountain range right down the center of the continent, I suppose.  Oklahoma has some of the oldest (and therefore some of the smallest and roundest) mountains on the continent, the Arbuckle mountain range, so it's happened before...

Yeah, the Mississippi River ran backwards for a day or two, and the course was altered in the area where Arkansas, Missouri, and Tennessee meet.

That's just Texas shaking it's head in disbelief that I am coming to faire this weekend!

Marcos
At the faire or in the wood shop, that's where I am!

Rani Zemirah

Well, I hope it comes to terms with it soon, because I'm not sure my nerves can handle any more shaking!

Btw... do I recall you mentioning something about being there for AHE?
