Won't do her much good if she's not home to use it. They seem to be, thankfully, targeting her when shes not at home.  The alarm may be a good deterrent.  Perhaps booby traps as well (o:

Too bad hooking a 12 gauge up to your door can get you life... even if they are breaking into your place.  >:(

I prefer letting a 175lbs dog chew on them for a while... as i pull my .45 to help the dog put "ventilation" holes in them.  I had someone try to kick rob my place a few years back... hence the Great Dane with an attitude.  My property is now posted and i DO answer the door with a gun in my hand.  Don't like it?  Don't show up at my door without a phone call and you won't have to look at the business end of an 870.

I know this doesn't help you feel safer, but do you have renter's insurance? If they do come back it sure helps with replacement.

Yrose, I can't afford renters insurance on my income, since I can barely cover my car insurance... and unfortunately there isn't an insurance company in the state that would cover this complex against theft.  Just found out last month that we have more gang member residents than anywhere else in the metro area, and we're in the wealthiest suburb of OKC!  Of course, we're in the low-rent district of that suburb, but still...  Also found out that the crime rate for theft, violence and drug offenses has tripled here in the last 3 years.  Scary...

Fraser and Merlin, I would LOVE to have a dog... LOTS of dogs, in fact!  Dogs are awesome!  I hate that we have to live in an apartment right now, and I've been looking for a way to get us back to the mountains of Colorado for quite some time, now, but that's no easy feat, either.

Someone on facebook suggested I put a sign on my door which reads... "Warning: Illegal or forced entry may result in electric shock, possibly leading to death"...  Wonder about the legality of posting something like that...?

Unfortunitly the only legal path that's been left for private citizens is to be a victim, which I am sure is by intended design. Most any efforts at self protection will be met by the full force of the courts.

Time to start stepping on toes...and faces. Maybe it's time to have open season on law makers.

That's why Texas is the greatest state in the Union... breaking into your car, shoot 'em... stealing your lawnmower, shoot 'em... Repoman shows up without a cop and trys to take your stuff, shoot 'em...someone molesting your cat, shoot 'em, TWICE.  Castle Law applies to your vehicle also. All i have to say is...

OPEN CARRY, NOW!

Only if you don't know how to use them... gun control is the ability to drop your target on the first shot not just hit the damn thing. LOL.  :D

Speaking of open carry in Texas, Represenative George Lavender will be sponsoring an open carry bill. Write your rep to support it. Here is a link for a petition for it also.
