Apparently the family wanted a quiet funeral. RIP, a true American hero, even though he himself said he was not a hero, but he served with many heros.

Yes...I saw notice of his death yesterday...  For those who have not yet seen the miniseries Band of Brothers, I suggest you brace yourself and spend the time to watch. One of the most moving chronicles of (a portion of) the war that I've seen. You will see why he is as well thought of as he is.

I respectfully disagree with Maj. Winters:  In my view, he was a true hero, in every sense of that word.  May he rest in peace.

Jan 2ND America lost a true Hero, and so few knew or even know now. Maj.Winters was a hero and a true leader of men, who should have got the Medal of Honer for his actions on D-Day, but received a Distinguished Service Cross. Cheerahee!
