But... I like your feather.  It has more presence than all those fuzzy ones.  Gives you your own bit of style, in a sea of conformity... ;)  :P  What colors?  Did you go for natural, or something more vivid?

And do I recall you saying you were going to sport the Dunans this year, then?  I don't remember if you said the ancient or the modern version.  I like them both, though the modern is a bit more vivid.

I've been awake all night, but I managed to get 3 days worth of work done on this design, so I think it was probably worth is.  I'm starting to think in Scottish accent now, though (must be the subject... :D ), so I might need to stop working for a bit, before I over do it!

Fletcher of Dunans will have to wait until next year... it's considered a "rare" tartan and the lowest price i've been quoted on it is $400.  :o That is without "cheater" pleats and leather straps.  Add another 75-100 plus 150 for a fly plaid.  :o!!  I'll be sporting Dress Fraser... Nasty is going with a non-clan tartan known as Nightstalker.

Nasty is bringing is offical Laird paperwork over to my place, this weekend and we'll be taking a pic of both to post on Facebook.  It ought to quell the doubters(read Shut their pie holes) and show this is all on the up & up. ;)

Wow.. all they have to do is look up the website... something I managed to find in about 30 seconds after the first time you mentioned it.  ::)  Some people would rather just cast doubt than be bothered to find out anything for themselves, I suppose.  Of course, there will be those who would refuse to believe it if you were presented with a seal on the steps of the castle... on camera.  (those are probably the same people who think the moon landing took place in a Hollywood studio...)  ;)  :D

I'm familiar with the Nightstalker tartan, and I know a few who wear it.  He'll be in good company.  $400 for a single piece of clothing is serious... particularly since you won't wear it but a few times a year!  It's as bad for either of my family Tartans... for the lightest weight wool twill for either the Hamilton or the MacDonald of the Isles is $48 EU per meter.  I can't really afford to spend what, around $75-80 per yard, for enough fabric to make... well, anything, really!  Not even a decent plaid to carry...  And neither of them are common enough to just run across in a fabric store, like some.

Still, it sounds like you and Nasty will be nicely attired this season!  ;)

Uhhh... I hope you're referring to Nasty, and not to me, 'cuz darlin', I can rock the tartan, y'know...  :P

However... yes... you do.  ;)  :D

You never did tell me about your hackles, though...  What color?  And did you go for the dress sporran (as befits a Laird of the Castle), or something less formal?

Oh, nice... I didn't know you worked leather!  I'm just beginning to learn a little more about it, and I have basic shaping and carving tools... but most of my leather work is with stitching thinner leather, rather than tooling.  I do need to spend more time with it, but I'd have to figure out how to add more hours to the day, I guess...

You should be able to find silver leaf at Hobby Lobby.  I'm sure I've seen it there, in the paints section near where they have their finishes.

Uhhh, why no... I don't spend much time there... why do you ask?!?  :P  :D

I like the less formal look more, actually...  I see too many formally attired Scots at Faire, and not one of them looks like they could do a lick of work in their fancy clothes.  It's nice to see the occasional kilted lad who looks like he's just come in from the fields, or hunting, without all the spit and polish...  You'd think no one ever did anything except check to see that their pleats were straight!  ::)  :D

Of course, I love the look of a man in a well worn Utilikilt, also, who looks like he actually WORKS in it, at a job that takes a bit of strength...  (sigh)  ;)  :D

Hmmmm.... wonder how many of my family back in Ciarraí would lynch me if I joined Fraser and Nasty amongst Dunans' ranks? ;D
I can see it now- "Bogtrottin' gobshyte! Not only do you live in Yank-land, you're sportin' Scottish title instead of your own native one! You're dead to us all, you heathen!"  ::)

Hah!  Takes more than tartan to turn a man into a heathen... although, didn't we all start out as heathens, in the first place?!?  ;)

Are you trying to emulate Fraser in some other way, mebee?  Like not answering yer bloody renmail?!?  :-\  :P
