Yeah, all is well here now. Got pretty intense there for a few hours but its just a pretty heavy thunderstorms and lovely hail passing through now. The bad stuff moved off east. If anyone is east of DFW, watch out.

I guess you really need to live in this part of the country (ok, tx, ks,) to say "just heavy thunderstorms" like its nothing.  ;D

I know... some of the neighbors here were freaking out, and the young couple above us bugged out to the school, with their little girl in her Storm Center approved crash helmet, but I could tell by the sky that the tornadoes weren't any closer than 10 miles, even when the rain was horizontal there for a while...

Of course, as soon as I see that particular twist to the sky... that's when WE head for shelter.  Haven't seen it but once so far since we moved back, almost 10 years ago now, though.

But as long as the hail doesn't do any damage to the van we're good to go... and it's just another heavy thunderstorm.  I enjoy watching them... but I prefer the ones that are all lightning, thunder and rain, without the twisters, thanks!  ;)

Sounds pretty awesome, anyway...  ;)  I know I could always stand a little more joy in my life...  :)

When I was a kid, I used to HATE thunderstorms, but as I got older, they aren't too terrible unless they get really crazy. I'm with you, Rani: If they don't have twisters or anything crazy, it's quite alright. lol

A quiet Saturday afternoon... spring/fall... with some lazy storms putting around... NAP TIME!  ;D

Oh, no doubt... I LOVE to nap when it rains!  Especially if it's that kind of rain that whips around and spatters against the window every once in a while, and drips off the eaves... and you can hear it hitting the roof.  There's just something... cozy about being curled up, warm and comfy, while the flowers and tomatoes are watering themselves...  ;)

Of course, there's also something infinitely exciting about watching a storm roll in, full of wild lightning and deafening thunder, and the feeling that you're the tiniest speck of life in an incredibly powerful Universe, and that, every so often, it will do whatever it pleases, just because it can...

I prefer those storms that sweep across the plain so fast that you don't even realize they're coming until you hear that first crack of thunder, that are moving too fast to create tornadoes... like they're late for something and have to make up time, and the only way they can do that is to hurl lightning around so they can ride the rolling thunder to get where they need to be.

Well!  I guess there was just a little bit of poetry in me this morning that needed to make it's way out...  ::)  :D

Yup. Nothing like a rainy day nap! :)

the rumble of thunder puts me out... unless it's the kind that'll give me flashbacks.   :o

*woke up one night, and swore that i was being hit with 120's and tried to roll under my bed*  >:(

I hate that so many of my friends have those kinds of memories... although I know, intellectually, at least, that any society is only strong as long as it's strongest warriors are willing to put themselves in the line of fire to protect it... otherwise it will be pulled down from the outside.

Still... the mother, sister, lover and friend in me aches when I'm face to face with the aftereffects of one of those nightmares... sleeping or waking... and the only thing I have to offer is whatever understanding I have, and what little comfort my hands and arms can provide.

Something else to think about this time of year, when we take a bare few moments out of our busy lives to honor our Veterans...

Well!  :o  I seem to be missing large portions of my hard candy shell today!  ::)  See?  I can too be a girly-girl sometimes!  Obviously not without exposing more of my soft, mushy insides than absolutely necessary, but still...  :P

Soooo... anyone have exciting plans for the holiday weekend?  Hopefully something that includes at least a few moments to honor those who have put their lives on teh line for the freedoms we all generally take so much for granted?  We have a parade here Monday, and I plan to take Scally to see it.  Other than that, we will probably be spending parts of the rest of the weekend at the local lake with family.
