Better check the calendar, though—the 29th is on a Sunday in 2011, but a Tuesday in 2012.

<giggle snort> Do you know how long I've been looking at the 2011 calendar thinking it was 2012? I blame Loki and Jules' Rennie Math Course. Oh well, we eloped on Friday of Memorial Day Weekend in 1987 so whatever the day on the calendar, we celebrate every Memorial Day Weekend! :)

I am still going to keep watching and reading everything you pick up here! :) I look forward to seeing you and your lovely wife in a few months! There's probably at least 20 or so Scarby-ites regularly on the boards and surely more who pop in occasionally.

I can make one suggestion if you need a cake. http://www.casalindabakerydallas.com/0_welcome.htm
Casa Linda Bakery made a lovely chocolate wedding cake for His Lordship and I, oh so many years ago with blue forget me nots all over it.
They do many custom cakes and can come up with almost anything if you give them plenty of time.

It appears that Scarborough handles the bride's cake, but I will see.

Lady Kett, worry thee not! There have been calendar problems in the past... Wednesday, September 2, 1752 was followed by Thursday, September 14! I wonder how many people that year had to wait another year for Social Security!  ;D

Merlin, I hope everything goes well with your vow renewal plans, and I'm looking forward to seeing you and your better half next April!

Al-Nimer, look forward to seeing you again as well. Whatever ends up as the celebration, as long as we have friends there to celebrate with us, we will be happy.

Just a bump to update... I've begun the process to put this party on... Initial contacts with management seem to indicate that we have a little wiggle room with some details, but I am tentatively announcing the event for 10:30 am, Saturday, April 21, 2012 in the wedding garden.  I will confirm that to you when they receive my deposit, and I get confirmation on the time/date from them.

In the past year, we've formed amazing bonds with some of you at Scarborough, at Sherwood, and at The Castle. I feel reasonably certain that more new ones will be formed at RenDezvous next month. I'd like to think those bonds will be long-lasting. I have to say, the past year, and the time we've spent at faires, has been the most fun we've had in a long time—with our clothes on. I'm hoping that a lot of you will mark your calendars and join us next year.

I'll be posting more as it occurs to me...

Huzzah Merlin! Ours is scheduled May 26 2011 @ 10:30 AM. I hope you and your lady Nimue will be able to make it that weekend!

Also details to follow...it's much to early to be official!  :D

Scarby is special, but your cermony will be SPECIAL. We will be there.

Taste the rainbow! (Iris and Rose joke for those who know it...)

I'd love to compare notes with you on what you're doing. But again...I might have made the reservation early but it's much to early for me to do anything more besides get some of the garb in the works! I am a professional procrastinator, after all. I enjoy planning things, it's just the execution that sometimes never happens.

Ummm....methinks the Lady Kett doth mean 2012 however. Otherwise share that time machine, I have a few bets I would like to go back and make. ;D

I figure Scarby has more than its share of presiding Officiators but wanted to mention I am a card carrying clergy member, I would simply have to register in that county to make it completely official.  ;)

We also have in our vast Library Hand Fasting Services.  and a Wicca Friend in Oregon who presides over them who can offer any help you may need in preparing your special event.  You're already Hitched.  So you can more or less write anything you want.  Merlin cast your spell on all of us  and Huzzah.  I plan on being there work and weather permitting.

Lady Kett and I have had the discussion about her time warp before... I knew what she meant  ;)

Actually, the clergyman that married us the first time will likely be in attendance, but we are wanting to use the old ways this time...none of the new religion, so we would be interested in what you have on the hand-fastings and Wicca.  Note to clarify to those who may be worried: despite what you may have heard regarding Wicca, it is totally respectful of, and is not in conflict with, Christianity and other new religions.

Heh, yes I have date issues. :) I blame Merlin for twisting the space time continuum. I think that's why he understands when I mean even when I don't.

For a vow renewal, you need not have a licensed officiator since you do not need a marriage license. I did learn that talking to the wedding coordinator. The officiant can be anyone you want, as can the ceremony.

I've seen them do handfastings this year as I snooped over the wall while Sidekick was on guard duty. And Castle Canine Creations has beautiful handfasting cords. They are both on the boards here and at Scarby (at least the past 2 years, hopefully next year!)

+100000000000000. And also for those who might perhaps get nervous, this is a reaffirmation, you were already bonded in the "legal and accepted" way beforehand.;)

I was just teasin, Lady Kett. :)  I do it all the time, and am sometimes lucky to remember what day it currently IS, let alone past or future dates. My grandmother calls that "sometimers."  ;D

It struck me just now something that I think would be helpful for this (and any other types of ceremonies ) and that would be a Kindle. Small and portable, you can easily download any ceremonial books you might use and have them right on hand in 30 seconds or so. No need for transporting assorted books around. (not to mention they now have a library of 5000+ of the old classics completely free as well ) All new books are already in that format and they are working hard to update all older titles. You can also convert a PDF file with your completed ceremony and import that into a Kindle for easier quick access as well. ( I am one of the world's worst "paperwork" losers. ;)  )

One example is one of the books we currently own, found on Amazon and Kindle ready:

Or if you want OLD time England,  I have the English Anglican Book of common Prayer that even says "obey" in it, if you are interested.  I'll have to get it when I go up north, but You have loads of options and time on your side, provided you don't wait until say April to write it  LOL
