What are you looking forward to in fest season 2011?

The sneak peek behind the scenes as a non-fest employee is one of those things that both fascinates me, and sometimes takes the sparkle off the faire excitement. There's been plenty of grumblings over changes and management (and rightly so considering what they're doing), so I thought I'd start a thread for the GOOD stuff. The BEST part. The GET FREAKING EXCITED THAT THE SEASON IS STARTING STUFF!!!

No whining allowed here, there's room for that elsewheres ;)

So what's got you geared up to get hot, and sweaty, and filthy out at faire this year?

For starters, I'm eye-balling a new Moresca bodice, if things work out I'll be thrilled to show it off as a new addition to my garb. I also can't wait to catch my first viewing of Vil Tennis this year, and intend to spend more time checking out The Danger Committee; I only saw them a couple of times last season, and I like how they've changed things from the Dew Drop Juglers.

I'm looking forward to:

1.  New costume pieces & the new hats we are wearing this year.
2.  Only participating in one group this year instead of splitting my time between several
3.  Camping out again.  Last year we didn't.  It was nice, dry.  Cool when hot, warm when cold.  Flush-able toilets, a nice shower . . . etc.  That said, it is nice just to roll over, stroll up to cast call and grab coffee & breakfast on the way.
4.  New cast members among the Merry Men.  Loving them already and can't wait to play with them on street.

There are additional things I am looking forward to, but those are for 2012, and I'm not spilling the beans yet!!!

The laughter of small kids, the bruises on my knees, singing swing low in the morning, seeing people I only get to see at fest, and dancing with the morris dancers on what should be the bear stage yet again.
Bubbles are pure magic... if you don't believe me watch any man, woman, or child chase a bubble down the road.

Feast of Fantasy. Have gone at least once each year since it started, some years more.

Budget allowing an animal head sporran.

And see any of the street performers making a child happy.

The whole ambience of faire. I would be hard pressed to choose any ONE thing....

Having many more fights this year with Dueling Grounds, and only one is unarmed. I'm getting lots of use out of my new rapier. Also, I get to fight with Lady Meegan Zerilli. :)

Opening day with my husband.   ;D

The smell of the grounds early in the morning when we open the booth.

Hanging out with friends while we wander the grounds.

Trying out new accents.

Laughing from start to finish, the whole day long.   ;)
Nothing clever to say here.  Not enough caffine yet.

LadyFae

New gowns for myself and each of my daughters!  (I should get started on mine soon, then!)

Checking out some stage acts now that the girls are older and may actually sit through more than just Bramblebush!

Watching my crazy sister become even MORE crazy as she works out there again!  =D

Just getting out to see my friends at Fest!

Just getting OUT!

Exactly what I was thinking too.   My other thing I am looking forward to is smacking Fae's junk in her trunk again.   ;D

You weren't looking forward to hanging out with her husband on opening day? I know that will be one of my highlights! ;)

Fog across the site first thing in the morning.

The Morris Dancers "blessing the site" after hours as in this audio I caught a couple years ago using a little digital recorder
http://historicgames.com/sound/blessingsite.mp3
The music is a little choppy, but I caught them at the very end of their procession around the inside perimeter of the entire ring of the site, so their penny whistle player was getting tired.

Seeing all the friends we only see once or twice a year outside of fest.

SHowing off the new game table I'm finishing and the new Cribbage boards

Of course I am, I adore him.  However, I think MG adores him more.   ;)

I totally can't forget watching patrons jump at the sound of the cannon :)

*I am nearly deaf in one ear so I don't jump anymore.... it lessens the effect when it only hits one side of your head*

Oh and I can't wait to glitter at least one dad's nose... :P

Very much so this! Hauntingly beautiful.

I am looking forward to seeing my friends that have been scattered across the country for the past 10 months.
