Hey all,

wondering if anyone has had, or know someone who has had a fest wedding? My fiance and i are considering it, and would like some reviews/advice from people who have experienced it!

Thanks in advance!

If I understand correctly there's no option for discount tickets for your guests. they have to pay full price to get in the gate.

If you don't have a minister or priest there are 3, or 4 participants who are non-denominational officiants who usually perform several ceremonies on site fest each year. Management can probably connect you with them

I attended a festival wedding many years ago.  It was AMAZING!  The bride and groom were rennies and it was a dream.  If it is YOUR dream wedding, then GO FOR IT!  Regarding your guests having to pay to get into the faire in order to attend your wedding; (let me refer to another wedding of friends) this one was out of state and I had to pay airfare and hotel to attend.  It might seem "unusual" to some to have to pay to attend a wedding, as we would not expect to pay for entrance to a church.  If that is a problem for a guest, then they can choose not to attend.  Just make sure you include ticket cost with the invitation so nobody is left standing at the gate in confusion.  Don't let anyone talk you out of your dream wedding - it is YOUR day!

Kiss-me-Kate

Perhaps you could spread the word that you would rather they celebrate the day at Fest with you, and spend the money on the ticket in lieu of a gift?  Either way, if it is your dream, go for it.

I have looked into this myself. All the various packages come with a number of free tickets, but not a lot of them. If you write to the wedding contact on the website, they will e-mail you a pdf file of what they offer.

i just got the pdf from them.  Hopefully we won't have too many people.  I think the lady said were comping tickets out the wedding budget.

It really will be what you make of it.  From the few weddings @ fest that I have photoed, it looked pretty basic.  You'll also most likely get people just walking up and sitting down to view your event.  I'm sure if it's something you want, then you will have a great day no matter what is or is not included.

Just making sure you know the one single most important rule of having a Ren Faire Wedding ...
You absolutely MUST post photos.
(OK, I made that up, but it is a darned good rule!)

Being "legal" myself (although I'm uncomfortable marrying people I don't know) I checked with one and it seems the going rate for the non-denominational officiants at fest is around about $200

Nim and I are having a renewal next season at Scarby. We're going to have a blowout!

I gotta tell you, if you're into it [faire], and she's into it, and you and she are into each other, do what you want to do. Your wedding will be with you for the rest of your lives. Make it special.

I've shot numerous weddings out at fest, and while many are fairly simple, I have also shot some very elaborate ones as well where I followed the couple around for the entire day to record their special day.  The main thing is that you enjoy the day, regardless of how simple or complex you make it!
